The Madisonville Town Hall, at 203 Cedar in Madisonville, Louisiana, was built in 1911. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.It is a vernacular (no style) two-story brick and stone building. Its concrete first floor has jail cells. The main (second) floor is reached by an exterior double stairway which is the main architectural feature of the building. It served as the town hall until 1976. In 1990 it was serving as the town's police station.In 2021 it is a museum, the Madisonville Historic Museum, displaying "local Native American history, Civil War history, and history of the families that founded Madisonville."

The Madisonville Bank, in Madisonville, Louisiana, was built around 1900 and renovated extensively in 1919.It is located on the corner of Cedar Street and E. St. John Street, a corner also swept by Covington/Louisiana Highway 21/Louisiana Highway 1077. It was built as a two-story gable-front building with simple storefront and a corner entrance. It gained a detailed classical wraparound storefront on two sides in 1919. This includes square pilasters with Corinthian capitals defining three bays on the front and three on the side.It is questionable whether a brick dado (lower wall) on its front dates from the 1919 renovation; it seems incompatible.Its interior includes its original pressed tin ceiling and original bank vault.It is one of two architecturally significant buildings from the 1890-1920 era surviving in Madisonville; the other is a large Queen Anne house. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Dendinger House, in Madisonville, Louisiana, is a historic house built in 1911. It has also been known as Regent Square. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. It is significant as one of only two landmark buildings in Madisonville from the 1890-1920 era.It is a central hall plan house which shows influence of both Colonial Revival and Queen Anne styles. Queen Anne elements include its two hexagonal bays, fishscale shingles in the front gable, and a wraparound gallery. Colonial Revival elements include two elliptical bays and the Tuscan columns of the gallery. A second contributing building in the listing is an outbuilding that served as a laundry, garage, and servants' quarters, which was built at the same time as the house.The house was built for Theodore Dendinger, Sr., a businessman whose New Orleans-based businesses operated boats and schooners between New Orleans and Madisonville and included the Madison Lumber Company. In 1992 the house served as headquarters of an interior design company but was still in Dendinger family ownership.

It is a tributary of the Tchefuncte River, which flows to Lake Pontchartrain. The river flows through an area of mixed pine-hardwood and bottomland hardwood forests on the Gulf Coastal Plain.The Bogue Falaya rises in southwestern Washington Parish and flows generally south-southeastwardly through western St. Tammany Parish, past Covington, where it collects the Abita River. It joins the Tchefuncte River about 10 miles (16 km) upstream of that river's mouth at Lake Pontchartrain.The name is derived from the Choctaw words bogu, “river,” and falaya, "long."A portion of the Bogue Falaya in St. Tammany Parish has been designated a "Natural and Scenic River" by the state government of Louisiana.

It is part of the St. Tammany Parish Public Schools system. Mandeville High School is a coeducational, public high school enrolling approximately 2,000 students in Grades 9–12. Approximately 70% of its graduates continue their education: 68% going to four year colleges or universities, and 2% going to either two year colleges or other post secondary institutions. Seven Sisters Oak, located in Mandeville, Louisiana, is a notably large southern live oak in Louisiana. The tree was originally registered at the Live Oak Society as "Doby’s Seven Sisters" (No. 200) because the Doby family owned the property where the tree was located and Mrs. Doby was one of seven sisters. The tree was renamed "Seven Sisters Oak" and reregistered at the Live Oak Society as member number 697. Seven Sisters Oak is the current president of the Live Oak Society, a status awarded to it by being the largest live oak registered by the society. Although there was some controversy as to whether the oak was one tree or several trees that had grown together, an inspection by professional foresters in 1976 determined that the tree developed from a single root system.In 2016, Seven Sisters Oak had a girth of 39.6 ft (12.1 m) (measured at 1.6 ft (0.49 m) height). At that time, the tree's total height was 57 ft (17 m). In 2018, its limb spread exceeded 153 ft (47 m). The age of Seven Sisters Oak has been estimated at between 500 and 1,000 years old.

The Abita River is a 9.3-mile-long (15.0 km) river in southeastern Louisiana in the United States. It is a tributary of the Bogue Falaya, which flows to the Tchefuncte River and then onto Lake Pontchartrain. The Abita River rises in central St. Tammany Parish and flows generally west-southwest through central St. Tammany Parish, through Abita Springs, and empties into the Bogue Falaya on the southeast side of Covington. The length of the Abita River, from headwaters to the mouth, has been designated a "Natural and Scenic River" by the state government of Louisiana.
