Åsane (municipality)

Åsane Storsenter is a shopping centre in the suburb of Åsane in Bergen, Norway. It was established in 2007 when Arken, owned by Steen & Strøm, and Åsane Senter, owned by Nordea Liv, merged in 2007. In January 2012, it consisted of 138 shops. During 2016, the property was acquired by Olav Thon Eiendomsselskap.

Åsane Church (Norwegian: Åsane kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Åsane in the city of Bergen. It is the church for the Åsane parish which is part of the Åsane prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The large, red, brick church was built in a circular design in 1993 using plans drawn up by the architect Trygve Dyngeland. The church seats about 600 people. The church was built to replace the Old Åsane Church which had recently had a large fire.

Åsane is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough makes up the northern part of the city, north of the city centre.Åsane is connected to downtown Bergen by the E16/E39 highway. The E16 highway continues on through Åsane to the southeast to the neighboring borough of Arna. The E39 highway continues north through Åsane to the Nordhordland Bridge and then on to the northern municipalities in Vestland county. There are plans to shorten the E39 highway through Åsane, including the construction of two tunnels: Eikås Tunnel (start of construction 2010) and the Nyborg Tunnel (still in the planning stages). Most buses passing through Åsane stop at the centrally located Åsane Terminal.

Vestlandshallen is an indoor arena in Bergen, Norway. It has a capacity of 5,000-9,000 people. It usually hosts various indoor sporting events as well as music concerts.

Åsane Arena, formerly known as Arena Nord, is a multi-purpose arena located in Åsane borough, Bergen, Norway. It is a gift from billionaire businessman and philanthropist Trond Mohn to the sport. The arena consists of 6 different sports halls and a soccer stadium and has a total area of 32,000 m2. Parts of the facility opened in August 2020, while the total facility was completed and opened in spring 2021.

Veten is a mountain in the city of Bergen, Norway. At 486 metres (1,594 ft) above sea level, it is the highest mountain in Åsane borough, and the ninth-highest in Bergen. The name is an archaic word for "beacon" in Norwegian.

Flaktveit is a neighborhood in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The neighborhood is located in the borough of Åsane in the northern part of the city. The European route E16/European route E39 highway runs around three sides of the neighborhood, providing easy access to the city centre. The area was a farm until the late-1960s when development began and it is now a large residential area.Flaktveit is located south of Nyborg, east of Rolland, north of Hjortland, and west of Blindheim. The Breimyra Lower Secondary School, Flaktveit School, and Flaktveit Stadion are all located in the neighborhood. The area consists of the basic statistical units of Flaktveit, Flaktveitrinden, Flaktveittræet, Bekkjarkrokane, and Flaktveitleitet. There were 5,103 residents in this area in 2009.

Eidsvåg Church (Norwegian: Eidsvåg kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Eidsvåg neighborhood in the city of Bergen. It is the church for the Eidsvåg parish which is part of the Åsane prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The large, white, concrete church was built in a rectangular design in 1981 using plans drawn up by the architectural firm Lund + Slaatto Arkitekter from Oslo. The church is a large cube shape, seating about 300 people, and the main sanctuary is expandable up to 500 people.

Eidsvåg is a neighborhood in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The village area lies in the borough of Åsane in the northern part of the city. It is located north of Ytre Sandviken, northwest of Jordal, southwest of Ervik and south of Eidsvågen, an arm of Byfjorden. Eidsvåg was the administrative center of the former municipality of Åsane, until 1972 when Åsane was merged into the city of Bergen.The area is mainly residential. It has Eidsvåg School, Eidsvåg Church, a slaughterhouse for Nortura, a marina, and the former Eidsvåg Fabrikker. In 2009, Eidsvåg had 2,965 residents and covered 2.24 square kilometres (0.86 sq mi).

Jordalsvatnet is a lake in the municipality of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The 0.57-square-kilometre (140-acre) artificial lake has a small dam on the western end and it is the main source of drinking water for the borough of Åsane (population: 40,000) in the city of Bergen, as well as the Ytre Sandviken parts of the neighboring Bergenhus borough. The lake lies east of the village of Eidsvåg, with the European route E39 highway running along the western shoreline. The surrounding valley of Jordalen is primarily agricultural in nature. In May 2005, a new water treatment plant along the lake opened in order to improve the quality of the drinking water. The untreated water coming out of the lake is lower than in other drinking water sources in the Bergen area due to the agricultural activity in the Jordalen valley.

Hylkje is a village in the borough of Åsane in the municipality of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The village lies in the northeastern part of the municipality, along the Sørfjorden. The European route E39 runs through Hylkje.The 2.97-square-kilometre (730-acre) village has a population (2012) of 2,277 and a population density of 767 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,990/sq mi). Since 2013, the village population statistics have no longer been tracked because the village is now included in the population statistics for the city of Bergen.

Bergen Prison is located in the Bergen kommune in Vestland and is placed under the west Criminal Care department. The prison was opened in 1990 and has a capacity of 258 inmates. Women and men serve together in Bergen prison, and there have been repeated revelations about female inmates prostituting themselves in exchange for drugs.
