Nester House (Geneva, New York)

Ashcroft is a historic home located at Geneva in Ontario County, New York. It is a 2+1⁄2-story brick home with a high pitched slate roof with projecting eaves. It is a large Gothic Revival style country house set deep in the midst of once carefully landscaped grounds. The house and property were designed by Calvert Vaux in 1862.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

South Main Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Geneva in Ontario County, New York. The district contains 142 contributing properties including 140 contributing buildings, as well as Pultney Park and the original quadrangle of the Hobart College campus. Over half of the structures date from 1825 to 1850.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Geneva Hall and Trinity Hall are historic dormitory buildings located at Hobart & William Smith College in Geneva, Ontario County, New York. Geneva Hall (1822) and Trinity Hall (1837) are the two oldest main structures on the campus of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, however, many of the houses date from earlier and Durfee House is the oldest, dating from the 1780s. Both are three story, nine bay structures built of fieldstone with belt courses between the stories.They were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Hobart and William Smith Colleges are private liberal arts colleges in Geneva, New York. They trace their origins to Geneva Academy established in 1797. Students can choose from 45 majors and 68 minors with degrees in Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Science in Management, and Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership. The colleges have graduated 35 Fulbright Scholars, three Rhodes Scholars, and numerous Marshall Scholars, Rangel Fellows, Truman Scholars, Emmy, and Pulitzer awardees as well as United States senators, House representatives, and a United States Supreme Court justice. Hobart and William Smith Colleges is a member of the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium, an association of highly selective liberal arts colleges. It is frequently ranked among the top 100 liberal arts colleges in the United States.The colleges were originally separate institutions – Hobart College for men and William Smith College for women – that shared close bonds and a contiguous campus. Founded as Geneva College in 1822, Hobart College was renamed in honor of its founder John Henry Hobart, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New York in 1852. William Smith College was founded in 1908 by Geneva philanthropist and nurseryman William Smith at the suggestion of numerous suffragettes and activists including Elizabeth Smith Miller and her daughter Anne Fitzhugh Miller. In 1943, William Smith College was elevated from its original status as a department of Hobart College to an independent college and the two colleges established a joint corporate identity. They are officially chartered as "Hobart and William Smith Colleges" and informally referred to as "HWS" or "the Colleges". Although united in one corporation with many shared resources and overlapping organizations, they have each retained their traditions. Today, students are free to participate in each of the colleges' customs and traditions based on their preferred gender identities. Students can graduate with diplomas issued by Hobart College, William Smith College, or Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

The Durfee House is a historic building that now serves as student housing for Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. It was originally built downtown as a land speculator's office during the nascence of European settlers in the region. Frederick Augustus de Zeng and his familiy are supposed to be early owners. Dated to 1787, it is the oldest known extant structure in Geneva and the surrounding area; however, the building was moved to its present location at 639 South Main Street in 1838 and expanded at least once in its history, in the late 1790s and/or in the 1840s. This hinders its historical landmark eligibility, despite the fact that it is considered to be one of the oldest extant frame buildings west of Rome, New York. Owned by Hobart College since 1840, the building is named for mathematician and dean William Pitt Durfee.

Belhurst Castle is a former private residence on the shores of Seneca Lake in Geneva, New York, United States. It was designed by architects Fuller & Wheeler and built between 1885 and 1889. The three-story, nine bay wide Romanesque Revival style mansion is constructed of Medina sandstone. It has a slate gable roof, one-story solarium, and four rectangular stone chimneys. It features projecting porches, bays, towers with conical and pyramidal roofs, eyebrow windows, and a porte cochere with Syrian arch.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.Supplemented by modern facilities, Belhurst Castle has been adapted for hotel and retail uses. It holds a hotel with three choices of lodging (Vinifera Inn, Chambers in the Castle, and White Springs Manor); two ballrooms to host weddings, two restaurants (Edgar's Restaurant and Stonecutters); spa, and a winery.Belhurst Castle has previously been used as a speakeasy during Prohibition, casino, and supper club.

WHWS-LP (105.7 FM) is a low power FM (LPFM) radio station operated by Hobart and William Smith Colleges and broadcasting to Geneva, New York. It is primarily staffed by the students of HWS. The station was first owned by the Finger Lakes Regional Arts Council which manages The Smith Opera House in Geneva. The license was transferred to Hobart and William Smith Colleges on April 24, 2015. Hobart and William Smith Colleges also holds the license for WEOS in Geneva, which is primarily an NPR news/talk station operated in conjunction with the WXXI Public Broadcasting Council.

Smith Opera House, also known as the Geneva Theater, the Smith, and Smith's Opera House, is a historic theater building located at Geneva in Ontario County, New York. It was constructed in 1894 and is a 3+1⁄2-story, detached brick-and-stone building. It was built by one of Geneva's most respected citizens, William Smith. It was renovated in 1931 as a movie theater by architect Victor Rigaumount in a unique combination of Art Deco and Baroque motifs. At one time, it was part of the Schine Theater Chain and was substantially redecorated and redesigned under their ownership. In the late 1960s the theater changed to the ownership of Panther Enterprises and was renamed simply The Geneva Theater. The Geneva Theatre was renamed Smith Opera House in 1983. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is located in the Geneva Commercial Historic District.

Washington Street Cemetery is a historic cemetery located at Geneva in Ontario County, New York. The cemetery was laid out in 1832 and the entry is distinguished by a handsome cast iron arch dating from the 1840s / 1850s. It contains about 2,200 burials dating from 1832 to the 1950s.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Geneva Armory is a historic National Guard armory building located at Geneva in Ontario County, New York. The armory consists of a long, shallow, rectangular, five-story, hip-roofed administration building with an attached 1+1⁄2-story, rectangular gable-roofed drill shed. The original section of the administration building was built in 1892 and designed by architect Isaac G. Perry. It was tripled in size in 1906 and the addition included a slightly off-center 10-sided, 4+1⁄2-story castle-like tower.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Farmers and Merchants Bank, also known as Geneva Savings Bank, is a historic bank building located at Geneva in Ontario County, New York. It was constructed in 1914–1915 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay brick building with a cast stone facade. The facade embodies a full range of Neoclassical features derived from ancient Greek architecture that were meant to convey a sense of integrity, durability, and reliability to the venerable financial institution of public banking.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. It is located in the Geneva Commercial Historic District.

Geneva Downtown Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Geneva, Ontario County, New York. It encompasses 83 contributing buildings in the central business district of Geneva. They were built between about 1840 and 1940, and include notable examples of Greek Revival, Italianate, Romanesque Revival, Colonial Revival, and Art Deco style commercial architecture. Located in the district are the separately listed Farmers and Merchants Bank, Smith's Opera House, and United States Post Office. Other notable buildings include the Prouty Block (1876), YMCA (1902), Wheat Building (1904), Guard Building (1917, 1924), Geneva City Hall (1913, 1940), Odd Fellows Building (1884-1890), and Kresge Building (1928).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
