Shinjuku Gyo-en

The Shinjuku Gyo-en Greenhouse is a greenhouse in Shinjuku Gyo-en, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. It was built in 1950 and displays more than 1,700 tropical and subtropical plant species, as of 2016.

Shinjuku-gyoemmae Station (新宿御苑前駅, Shinjuku-gyoen-mae-eki) is a subway station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan, operated by the Tokyo subway operator Tokyo Metro. It is numbered "M-10".

The National Noh Theatre (国立能楽堂, Kokuritsu Nōgaku Dō) opened in Sendagaya, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan in September 1983. The auditorium seats 591 for performances of Noh and Kyōgen, and there is also a rehearsal stage, exhibition area, lecture room, and reference library. In 2007, the National Noh Theatre began to annually present regular programs by female performers.

Water polo at the 1964 Summer Olympics was held at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Shibuya, Tokyo. The gymnasium was built in 1961-1964 as the first indoor pool for Olympic water polo; it also hosted all swimming and diving events and could accommodate over 13,000 people. In the water polo tournament, two teams from each of the four preliminary groups advanced to two semi-finals, and their four winners competed for the medals. The scores from preliminary rounds were taken into account in the semifinals, and the scores from the semifinals were taken into account in the finals.

At the 1964 Summer Olympics, fourteen different artistic gymnastics events were contested, eight for men and six for women. All events were held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Tokyo from 18 October through 23 October.The scoring in all the events was the same, as for gymnastics events at the previous Olympics. The six best gymnasts on the apparatus in the team competition (by sum of two scores - for compulsory and optional routine) qualified for that apparatus finals. Each of the women's events was judged by five judges. The highest and lowest marks were dropped and an average of three remaining ones constituted the score. Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium (東京体育館, Tōkyō Taiikukan) is a sporting complex in Sendagaya, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Built in 1954 for the World Wrestling Championship, it was also used as the venue for gymnastics at the 1964 Summer Olympics, and hosted the table tennis competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The gymnasium was rebuilt to a futuristic design created by Pritzker Prize winner Fumihiko Maki from 1986 to 1990. The gymnasium is a one-minute walk from Sendagaya Station on the Chūō-Sōbu Line and Kokuritsu Kyogijo Station on the Toei Oedo Line.

Shinjuku Ni-chōme (新宿二丁目), referred to colloquially as Ni-chōme or simply Nichō, is Area 2 in the Shinjuku District of the Shinjuku Special Ward of Tokyo, Japan. With Tokyo home to 13 million people, and Shinjuku known as the noisiest and most crowded of its 23 special wards, Ni-chōme further distinguishes itself as Tokyo's hub of gay subculture, housing the world's highest concentration of gay bars.Within close walking distance from three train stations (Shinjuku San-chōme Station, Shinjuku Gyoenmae Station, and Japan's busiest train station, Shinjuku Station), the Shinjuku Ni-chōme neighborhood provides a specialized blend of bars, restaurants, cafes, saunas, love hotels, gay pride boutiques, cruising boxes (hattenba), host clubs, nightclubs, massage parlors, parks, and gay book and video stores. In fact within the five blocks centering on street Naka-Dōri between the BYGS building at the Shinjuku San-chōme Station and the small Shinjuku park three blocks to the east, an estimated 300 gay bars and nightclubs provide entertainment.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Indoor Swimming Pool is an aquatics venue located in Tokyo. It hosted the water polo tournament during the 1964 Summer Olympics. It was constructed initially as the swimming venue for the 1958 Asian Games.

Kokuritsu-Kyōgijō Station (国立競技場駅, Kokuritsukyōgijō-eki, lit. National Stadium Station), also known as Tōkyō Taiikukan-mae, is a Tokyo subway station located in Sendagaya, Shibuya and Shinanomachi, Shinjuku. Situated on the Toei Ōedo Line, the station is operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation.

The Closing Ceremony of the 1964 Summer Olympics took place on October 24, 1964, in the National Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. The athletes from each country entered informally, despite plans to have a formal entrance. There did not appear to be any backup plan to sort athletes into their respective countries, and as a result the athletes rushed the field, sometimes arm in arm or riding piggyback, in a disorganized and chaotic spectacle. Zambia had just declared independence from Northern Rhodesia on that day and proudly marched under a newly made placard, but other placards were nowhere to be seen. The Japanese television networks were praised for covering the event live without losing their professional demeanor.When order was restored, the officially regulated ceremony was held, overseen by IOC president Avery Brundage. The athletes stood in a circle holding lights, and the large display above the field changed to read "SAYONARA". The national anthems of Greece, Japan, and Mexico as the next Olympic host country were played. As the closing ceremony completed with fireworks, the audience sang Hotaru no Hikari (the tune of Auld Lang Syne). The Showa Emperor was in attendance.

Hattori Nutrition College (服部栄養専門学校, Hattori Eiyō Senmon Gakkō) is a cooking school in Yoyogi, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Hattori Nutrition College offers certification courses and full degree programs in culinary arts and dietetics. There is a particular emphasis on healthy, “body-friendly” culinary techniques. The principal is Dr. Yukio Hattori, known for his role in the popular Japanese game show Iron Chef. Even before Iron Chef, Hattori Nutrition College was well known for its culinary arts programs. It is now a top choice for any aspiring culinarian in Japan, with an increasing world following as well. In the Japanese Iron Chef, Hattori Nutrition College students assisted the competing chefs in cooking duties. Dr. Hattori was the show's culinary commentator.
