Kirk Bramwith

Bramwith railway station was a small station on the South Yorkshire Railway's line between Doncaster and Thorne. It served the village of Kirk Bramwith, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. The original line followed closely the canal bank coming close to the village. The original station was opened with the line on 7 July 1856 and closed on 1 October 1866. With the new "straightened" line being further from the village this station was not resited.

Bramwith (WR&G) railway station, which was named Barnby Dun on opening, believed to be 1872, due to its close proximity to the village of that name, took the name Bramwith, (from February 1882), from the village of Kirk Bramwith, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England although it was over two miles away. This was possibly to avoid confusion with the station rebuilt on the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway's straightened line between Doncaster and Thorne. The station was also closer to the village of Thorpe-in-Balne, to the north, than Kirk Bramwith. It was located at the level crossing near the junction of North Field Lane with Bramwith Lane, east of the River Don Navigation.The station was built by the West Riding and Grimsby Railway but this line (and so the station) never had a regular local passenger service. It was used by excursion passenger trains travelling between the West Riding Woollen District towns and Cleethorpes from opening until the early years of the 20th century, after which it continued as a goods station, traffic being mostly agricultural in nature. The station closed around 1933, but the line is still in use.

The Ea Beck, also spelled Eaubeck or Eau Beck, is a small river in South Yorkshire, England, that flows eastwards into the River Don at Thorpe-in-Balne. The Environment Agency lists the beck as starting at South Elmsall, but mapping lists the beck with several names along its course. The beck has twice flooded areas and villages that it passes through in the 21st century.

Thorpe Marsh Power Station was a 1 GW coal-fired power station near Barnby Dun in South Yorkshire, England. The station was commissioned in 1963 and closed in 1994. In 2011, permission was given for the construction of a gas-fired power station on the site.

Thorpe-in-Balne railway station was an unopened railway station on the Hull and Barnsley and Great Central Joint Railway. It was situated about 1 mile (1.6 km) from the village of Thorpe in Balne, South Yorkshire, England adjacent to the road and some 6 miles (10 km) north of Doncaster. Like the other stations on the line it was built ready to accept passenger trains with flanking platforms and facilities, however the passengers never came. Although it was built ready for the opening on 1 May 1916 the line only opened for goods traffic, particularly coal, it stayed that way all its working life. The structures remained in position until the early 1960s when they were demolished. The line saw very few passenger workings, all of them enthusiasts specials, the final one being the "Doncaster Decoy" on 5 October 1968.

Barnby Dun with Kirk Sandall is a civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 8,524 and by 2011 this had risen to 8,592. The parish covers Barnby Dun and Kirk Sandall, both parts of the Doncaster urban area.

The village is known for its friendly community and good transport links to nearby towns and cities, making it a popular choice for families and commuters. The parish church of St Peter & St Paul is Grade I listed.The village is located 21.3 miles (34.2 km) from Sheffield. The village has 3,362 inhabitants (2016). Barnby upon Don was a civil parish until 1921 when it became part of Barnby Dun with Kirk Sandall. The civil parish had 774 inhabitants in 1921.

Thorpe in Balne is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. It had a population of 176 at the 2001 census, increasing to 203 at the 2011 Census.A moated site with a chapel and a fishpond near the manor house is a Grade II* listed monument. The chapel once served as the village church. Another moated site in the civil parish is located at Tilts. Residents of Thorpe in Balne were asked to evacuate their homes during the 2019 United Kingdom floods.

The original line followed closely the canal bank and the station was resited when the line was 'straightened' in the 1860s. The original station, which was situated across the canal from the village, was opened with the line on 7 July 1856 and closed on 1 October 1866 when the new station, at the opposite side of the village was opened. The rebuilt station consisted of flanking platforms with its main buildings, in yellow engineers brick, on the Thorne-bound (up) platform. This platform was long, with a ramp to a barrow crossing to the 'down' side at its centre. The station was again rebuilt to accommodate four tracks in the Doncaster to Thorne widening of 1913 when the Doncaster-bound (down) platform was moved back. The station closed on 4 September 1967. The station building was demolished in July 2008.

Stainforth railway station was a station on the South Yorkshire Railway's line between Doncaster and Thorne, serving the town of Stainforth, South Yorkshire, England.

St Oswald's Church is a redundant Anglican church in Kirk Sandall, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
