Barnby Dun railway station was a small station on the South Yorkshire Railway's line between Doncaster and Thorne. It served the village of Barnby Dun, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. The original line followed closely the canal bank and the station was resited when the line was 'straightened' in the 1860s. The original station, which was situated across the canal from the village, was opened with the line on 7 July 1856 and closed on 1 October 1866 when the new station, at the opposite side of the village was opened. The rebuilt station consisted of flanking platforms with its main buildings, in yellow engineers brick, on the Thorne-bound (up) platform. This platform was long, with a ramp to a barrow crossing to the 'down' side at its centre. The station was again rebuilt to accommodate four tracks in the Doncaster to Thorne widening of 1913 when the Doncaster-bound (down) platform was moved back. The station closed on 4 September 1967. The station building was demolished in July 2008.

The village has a church dedicated to St Peter and St Paul, which dates back to the 12th century. It is a former mining village and its history is closely tied to the coal mining industry. Today, Barnby Dun is a residential area with a mix of modern and older properties. There are local shops, a primary school, and recreational facilities, such as a village hall and playing fields, in the area. The village is known for its friendly community and good transport links to nearby towns and cities, making it a popular choice for families and commuters. The parish church of St Peter & St Paul is Grade I listed.The village is located 21.3 miles (34.2 km) from Sheffield. The village has 3,362 inhabitants (2016). Barnby upon Don was a civil parish until 1921 when it became part of Barnby Dun with Kirk Sandall. The civil parish had 774 inhabitants in 1921.

Bramwith railway station was a small station on the South Yorkshire Railway's line between Doncaster and Thorne. It served the village of Kirk Bramwith, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. The original line followed closely the canal bank coming close to the village. The original station was opened with the line on 7 July 1856 and closed on 1 October 1866. With the new "straightened" line being further from the village this station was not resited.

Bramwith (WR&G) railway station, which was named Barnby Dun on opening, believed to be 1872, due to its close proximity to the village of that name, took the name Bramwith, (from February 1882), from the village of Kirk Bramwith, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England although it was over two miles away. This was possibly to avoid confusion with the station rebuilt on the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway's straightened line between Doncaster and Thorne. The station was also closer to the village of Thorpe-in-Balne, to the north, than Kirk Bramwith. It was located at the level crossing near the junction of North Field Lane with Bramwith Lane, east of the River Don Navigation.The station was built by the West Riding and Grimsby Railway but this line (and so the station) never had a regular local passenger service. It was used by excursion passenger trains travelling between the West Riding Woollen District towns and Cleethorpes from opening until the early years of the 20th century, after which it continued as a goods station, traffic being mostly agricultural in nature. The station closed around 1933, but the line is still in use.

The current station opened by British Rail in 1991 and is not on the site of the original station, which was about 0.5 miles (1 km) up the line eastwards.

Kirk Bramwith is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. It had a population of 200 in 2001, increasing to 320 at the 2011 Census. The village centre is located on a narrow strip of land, sandwiched between the River Don Navigation to the south east and the New Junction Canal to the north west. It is low-lying, with most of it close to the 16-foot (5 m) contour, and is almost surrounded by drainage ditches.

Doncaster Greyhound Stadium is a greyhound racing track located in Stainforth, near Doncaster, England.It is sometimes referred to as Meadow Court Stadium and was previously known as Stainforth Stadium. It is not to be confused with the former Doncaster Greyhound Track that existed near the York Road. The stadium has executive suites, a restaurant, a number of bars and fast food areas. Racing takes place every Monday and Wednesday night, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

It forms part of the Doncaster Central parliamentary constituency. It elects two councillors to Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, both currently held by Labour. UKIP have held the seat in the past. In 2011 it had a population of 9,955. The ward was formed in 2015.

Edenthorpe is a village and civil parish on the eastern edge of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. At the 2001 census, it had a population of 4,752, increasing slightly to 4,776 at the 2011 Census. The village lies 4 miles (6.4 km) to the north east of Doncaster city centre.
