Glendurgan Garden (Cornish: Glynn Dowrgeun, meaning deep valley of otters) is a National Trust garden situated above the hamlet of Durgan on the Helford River and near Mawnan Smith, in the civil parish of Mawnan, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. Glendurgan Garden was laid out by Alfred Fox in the 1820s and 1830s. In 1962 Glendurgan Garden was given to the National Trust by Cuthbert and Philip Fox. The garden is notable for a cherry laurel maze, created in 1833.

A pedestrian ferry operates daily from Easter to October between Helford Passage and HelfordHelford Passage lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Durgan (Cornish: Dowrgeun, meaning otters) is a hamlet in the parish of Mawnan, south Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is beside the Helford River four miles (6 km) south of Falmouth. The hamlet consists of seventeen properties, many owned by the National Trust, and has a permanent population of just 10 (2017). The majority of the properties are second homes or holiday lets. Durgan has a beach popular with boaters, swimmers and holiday makers. Only vehicles belonging to residents or those staying in holiday lets are permitted in the village as the roads are narrow and parking is unavailable. Durgan is known for boating on the Helford River and the Fal estuary and hosts a regatta on the last Sunday in August each year. It was the home port of Captain George Vancouver. Glendurgan Garden, a National Trust property, is located in Durgan.

Mawnan Smith (Cornish: Mownan an Gov) is a village in the civil parish of Mawnan in south Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated approximately three miles south of Falmouth. In 2019 it had an estimated population of 1020.The parish church of St Mawnan and St Stephen is in Mawnan village (also known as Mawnan Church). A second church, St Michael's, was built in the village of Mawnan Smith in 1876 and there was also a Wesleyan Methodist chapel in the village. The village name may derive from the fact that it once had four working smithies serving the many farms in the parish. By the early 20th century only one remained in business. It was operated by blacksmith Billy James followed by his son Dryden and closed when the latter died in 1994. The Mawnan Anvil Trust has since restored the smithy as a working forge with a resident Artist Blacksmith and the site now also includes a Silversmith, Sign Writer and Carpenter.

The village is about five miles (8 km) south-southwest of Falmouth.The origin of the name Manaccan is probably derived not from a saint but from the Cornish for (church) of the monks. It was also at times called Minster in English because it must once have had a Celtic monastery. "St Manacca" is recorded as the patron saint as early as 1308.The population of Manaccan was 321 in the 2011 census, an increase from 299 in the 2001 census.Manaccan lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Almost a third of Cornwall has AONB designation, with the same status and protection as a National Park.

Carlidnack (or Carlinack) is a hamlet in the parish of Mawnan, Cornwall, England. Carlidnack lies 2.7 miles (4.3 km) south-west of Falmouth on a road leading north-east from Mawnan Smith and at around 495 feet (151 m) above sea level.There is evidence of an ancient settlement at Carlidnack called a round that dates back to the late Iron Age or Roman period. This is a scheduled ancient monument that has been listed by English Heritage. The round is a circular area enclosed by a bank of earth and a ditch and with a single entrance; a round is usually a sign of an agricultural settlement. The round at Carlidnack has a bank that is 4 yards (3.7 m) high, a ditch that is 0.7 yards (0.64 m) deep and has a diameter of 140 yards (130 m); there are modern buildings on the site that date back to the early 20th century.

The population was 1,454 in the 2001 census, rising slightly to 1,476 at the 2011 census. The church town of the parish is Mawnan Church, also known simply as Mawnan, and the only large village in the parish is Mawnan Smith, approximately three miles south of Falmouth.
