Azimpur (Bengali: আজিমপুর) is an old region in the old part of Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh. The region is named after Shahzada Azam, son of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Other accounts attribute the name to Azim-us-Shaan, the Nayeb-e-Nazim of Dhaka during the early 18th century. This area started to decay in the colonial era. In 1850 Azimpur shown as a no man's land in the map of surveyor general. In 1950 this area redesigned as the government employee's residence.

Azimpur Mosque (Bengali: আজিমপুর মসজিদ) is located beside the Azimpur graveyard in Dhaka. A Persian inscription in the mosque indicates that the mosque was built in 1746 AD by Fayzul Alam. The mosque was built during the reign of Mughal Nawab Alivardi Khan and is the last existing example of a mosque structure with a single dome and a flanking half-domed vault on both sides.

New Paltan (Azimpur Natun Paltan in Dhaka City Corporation records) is near Dhaka's New Market in Azimpur. Several markets and a number of educational institutions (Dhaka University's Institute of Social Welfare and Research and arts faculty, Dhaka College, Government Laboratory High School, Dhaka City College and Eden Mohila College) are nearby. Border Guards Bangladesh headquarters is in neighbouring Pilkhana.

Institute of Social Welfare and Research is one of the oldest institutes of the University of Dhaka. It is the apex institution for the social work education in Bangladesh. It offers Graduation, Post-Graduation, M.Phil and PhD degrees to students in social welfare/social work. The institute is situated in New Market area in the capital, adjacent to the gate-3 of Border Guard Bangladesh headquarters. It is situated in the same premises of two female dormitories of the University of Dhaka, Begum Fajilatunnessa Mujib Hall and Bangladesh- Kuwait Maitree Hall and detached from the main campus of the University of Dhaka.

Eden Mohila College (known as Eden College), is a women's college in Azimpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1873 in the Farashganj area of Dhaka. In 1878 the school was named after Ashley Eden, Lieutenant Governor of Bengal. The college moved to its present premises in 1963. It is affiliated with the University of Dhaka as of 16 February 2017.

The historical shrine of Dayera Sharif Khanqah, commonly known as Bara Dayera Sharif, is situated in the Azimpur locality of Dhaka city. The Persian word Dayera means "circle" or "work area". As a rule, the heirs of the Dayera Sharif never go outside the area, except for pilgrimage. The Azimpur Dayera Sharif was established by Shah Sufi Sayed Muhammad Dayem who came at Dhaka in 1766-68 AD. It is currently under the supervision of his saventh generation(tenth Gaddi-Nashin). Shah Sufi Syed Ahmadullah Jobayer has been the overall supervisor of Dayera Sharif since 1998. The successor of the Sufi dynasty is known as Gaddi Nashin, who sits on the Gaddi to serve people. The historical Azimpur Dayera Sharif represents the 700 years old Sufi dynasty in Bengal. The representatives of the dynasty are one of the very few Persian-speaking people in Bangladesh. The place is also symbolic to the propagation of Islam not only in the province of Bengal but also across the greater Indian Subcontinent. Endowment mark, stamp, and sign of Emperor Shah Jahan and the Quran gifted by Emperor Shah Jahan resembles a deep connection to the Sufi dynasty with the Delhi Sultanate.

Tokai Market (Bengali: টোকাই মার্কেট) is a commercial shopping market in north of Azimpur, Dhaka. It is situated on the opposite side of Chandni Chowk.

Nilkhet (নীলক্ষেত) is a neighbourhood in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. It is located between Dhaka University to the east, Mirpur Road and New Market to the west, and Elephant Road to the north. The name Nilkhet (nil: blue or indigo, khet: field) implies that the area may have been used for indigo cultivation in earlier times. However, Nilkhet has a completely different identity today. The market has long been the center of the second-hand book trade in Dhaka. It contains several dozen shops that deal in used books and magazines, especially English-language material published in the West. The Nilkhet is regularly patronized by the city's English-language readers, who go there in search of foreign books, journals and comics that are either unavailable elsewhere or only available new at a prohibitive price. Thousands of people regularly visit Nilkhet book stores to find out their daily necessary books. Because of its proximity to Dhaka University, Dhaka Medical College and BUET, as well as several major colleges such as Dhaka College, Eden College and College of Home Economics the Nilkhet market has also become a major source of academic material for the city's students. Textbooks of all levels (from primary to tertiary) and for all disciplines may be purchased at Nilkhet. It also has many shops that provide auxiliary services for students, such as photocopying, word-processing and book-binding. Indeed, “photocopying at Nilkhet” is a common rite of passage for nearly all students of nearby universities during their undergraduate and postgraduate years.

Balaka is a movie theater located in New Market, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Balaka Cineworld, one of the oldest movie theaters in the country, was closed on 20 March 2020 for COVID-19 epidemic, but reopened on 29 September 2022.

Chandni Chowk (Bengali: চাঁদনি চক) or Chandni Chowk Shopping Complex is one of markets in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is situated in Mirpur Road, near to New Market. This market area is under New Market Thana. It is closed on Tuesdays of the week.The market, which has 1,200 shops, sells a variety of products including clothes, jewelery and shoes. It is popular for buying and selling products on the occasion of Eid.The incident of Eve teasing in the market on March 24, 2018 was criticized in the country. On October 21, 2020, a building of Chandni Chowk caught fire.

Azimpur Government Girls' School and College (Bengali: আজিমপুর গভর্নমেন্ট গার্লস স্কুল এন্ড কলেজ) is a secondary and higher secondary school in Azimpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1957 by the Welfare Association of Government Employees. In 1999 the school had an enrollment of some 2,700 students and a faculty of 82. The institution is known for its cultural activities. It hosts educational events like Bangladesh Mathematics Olympiad and Bhasha Protijog. The school celebrated its Golden Jubilee and reunion in 2007.The school started its classes in 1957. The first Head Master was Kazi Ambor Ali. In 1995, Azimpur Girls’ College was established on the school campus. Both school and college united into a single institution in 1999. It has nearly 2,800 students and 71 teachers in total. The Principal is Hosne Ara Begum. Property of the institution includes two buildings, a large playground, a duplex auditorium and a residence for the principal.
