Student housing at Florida State University is governed by the Office of University Housing, and provides housing for undergraduates, graduate students, and professional students on and off-campus. Overall about 85% of first time in college students live in residence halls. In addition over 20% of all undergraduates live in student housing.Facilities at Florida State include 18 residence halls on campus with 6,712 residents. Undergraduates live in a majority of the residence halls.In 2009, the university celebrated the completion of a 15-year project that renovated the seven historic residence halls (built before 1950). The interiors were modernized while the original facades were retained. The construction began in 1992 with Jennie Murphree Hall and ended in 2006 with Landis Hall.All dormitories are co-ed with no single sex buildings. The Florida State University School of Information is a school within the Florida State University College of Communication and Information. It was founded in 1947, when Florida State University was founded, as the School of Library Training and Service (SOLTAS). It changed its name in 1968 to the School of Library Science. Another name change occurred in 1981 when the faculty voted to change the name to the School of Library and Information Science in preparation for the opening of the School's new building (the current facility) later in 1981. In 2004, the School changed its name to the College of Information.The school offers programs in Information Science and Information Technology. These programs are consistently top-ranked programs in the nation and have held such rankings for many years in the U.S. News & World Report. The college is currently ranked 13th overall nationally, the Services for Children and Youth specialization program ranked fifth, School Library Media program ranked first, and the Information Technology program ranked 9th.The College of Communication & Information offers an Information Technology program at the undergraduate level, an ALA accredited online Master of Science in Information (MSI), a Masters in Information Technology degree (MSIT), a specialist degree, and a doctoral degree. The undergraduate courses are delivered as face to face instruction. At the graduate level, the courses are offered either in a face to face format or online. All graduate courses are offered online at some time to enable students from around the world to participate in the program.

The Florida State University College of Social Sciences and Public Policy, located in Tallahassee, Florida, is one of fifteen colleges comprising Florida State University (FSU). The college was founded in 1973 and includes six departments: Economics, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Urban and Regional Planning and the Askew School of Public Administration and Policy and interdisciplinary programs in African American Studies, Demography, International Studies, Interdisciplinary Social Science, and Public Health. The college also contains the following centers and institutes: Center for Demography and Population Health (population research and training), Center for Disaster Risk Policy (technical assistance and system development related to emergency management), Claude Pepper Center (research and advocacy for public policy reform on issues related to senior citizens), DeVoe L. Moore Center for the Study of Critical Issues in Economic Policy and Government (studying the effect of government rules, regulations, and programs on individuals and the economy), Geographical Information Systems Laboratory (training for professional planners and geographers), L. Charles Hilton Jr. Center for the Study of Economic Prosperity and Individual Opportunity (research on how legal, social, and political institutions influence economy), LeRoy Collins Institute (independent, nonpartisan statewide policy organization to study private and public issues facing Florida and the nation), Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy (coordinator and facilitator for multidisciplinary work in aging studies; sponsors the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, which encourages elders to return to campus to continue to learn), Stavros Center for Economic Education (promotes economics education in public schools through workshops and seminars, product development, and teacher training), Survey Research Laboratory (questionnaire and sample design, data collection, data entry and coding, data analysis for researchers, public agencies, and private organizations), William H. Kerr Intercultural Education and Dialogue Initiative (dedicated to "expanding educational opportunities for underprivileged youth around the world and creating international dialogue").The college is home to 150 faculty members. All departments offer professional master's degrees. Ph.D. degrees are offered in Economics, Geography, Political Science, Public Administration and Policy, Sociology, and Urban and Regional Planning. Many programs have achieved national acclaim and consistently rank in the top tiers among public universities. Among them are Urban and Regional Planning, Political Science, Urban Economics, Health and Aging, Gender Studies and the Askew School of Public Administration and Policy. The departments of Economics and Political Science have formed the Experimental Social Science Research Group (XS/FS), one of the nation's premier programs in experimental methods.In the 2018-2019 academic year, the college's enrollment was 4,684, with 4,064 undergraduates and 620 graduate students, making it the third-largest college in the university. In the 2017-2018 academic year, 1,812 degrees were conferred: 1,526 bachelor's degrees, 264 master's, and 22 doctoral.

The Askew School of Public Administration and Policy, located in Tallahassee, Florida, is a graduate school within the Florida State University College of Social Sciences. The School was founded in 1947 and offers eight specializations within the MPA, as well as joint degree programs with Urban and Regional Planning, Social Work, Criminology and Criminal Justice, and the Florida State University College of Law. It was renamed in honor of the former governor, Reubin Askew.

The FSU Student Union is the Student center on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, in the U.S. state of Florida. The brick building is a modern structure with a Collegiate Gothic exterior to match the architectural design of most of the buildings on the university's campus. It officially opened on September 23, 2022 replacing six aged buildings, some nearly 70 years old.

The Florida State University College of Nursing, is the nursing school of the Florida State University. About 553 students are enrolled in classes, including undergraduates and graduate students. All programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

The Florida State University College of Business is the business school of the Florida State University. Established in 1950, it enrolls more than 6,000 students including undergraduates and graduate students seeking their bachelor's, master's or doctoral degrees. All programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. In addition to raising funds to benefit academics, students, and faculty, the college is actively fundraising for Legacy Hall, the new home for the College of Business. Legacy Hall will be located next to a completely renovated Donald L. Tucker Civic Center and be part of the Arena District. Legacy Hall is currently slated to open the Summer of 2025.

The Bobby Tully Gymnasium (in full Lucy McDaniel Court at Robert Tully Gym) is a 2,500 seat multi-purpose arena at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida that serves as the home for the Lady Seminoles volleyball team and offices of the student recreation department. A million-dollar donation in the late 1990s paid for a renovation that included lighting, seating and gymnasium flooring. In November 2000 the facility was renamed to honor Lucy McDaniel.

The Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More is a Catholic cathedral located in Tallahassee, Florida, United States. Along with the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pensacola it is the seat of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee. St. Thomas More also provides the Catholic Campus Ministry at Florida State University. The Altar Relics of the Co-Cathedral are of Saint Felix and Saint Felicity.

The Florida State University (FSU) "Flying High" Circus is an extra-curricular activity under FSU's Division of Student Affairs. Located in Tallahassee, Florida, it is one of two such collegiate circuses in the United States, along with Illinois State University's Gamma Phi Circus. All members of the FSU Circus are required to be a degree-seeking student registered at Florida State University and are accepted after an audition.The FSU Circus is primarily a three-ring aerial and stage presentation with no animal acts. Student performers rig all of their own equipment, set up the circus's tent, sew costumes and produce lights and sound for performances.

The Florida State University College of Human Sciences is the human sciences school of the Florida State University. The College was established in 1918. About 2,972 are enrolled in classes, including undergraduates, graduate students, and Ph.D.-seeking students. The Department of Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences has the largest enrollment of pre-medical education students at FSU. It was also home to the now defunct "Housing" major, which was one of only four nationwide which focused on homes of all types as a product and how they impacted human health and behaviors.

University Center FSU (officially Devoe L. Moore University Center) is a group of four brick buildings that surround Doak Campbell Stadium at the southwest corner of the campus of Florida State University. As the name suggests, the 800,000 ft² complex is the hub of administrative, athletic and booster activities. The brick facade around the stadium matches the architectural design of most of the buildings on the university's campus. Planning and funding began under President Sliger in the early 1990s and construction lasted almost 20 years at a cost of hundreds of millions. Campbell stadium with the University Center "is the second largest continuous brick structure in the world (the first being the Great Wall of China) and the 49th largest stadium in the world."
