Dormont is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States and is part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area. The population was 8,593 at the 2010 census. Dormont includes young professionals, working families, and retirees. Dormont is mixed use and urban and features a pedestrian friendly business district, with bars, coffee shops, restaurants, and retail stores. It is famous for one of the largest municipal pools in Pennsylvania, the historic Dormont Pool. Loosely translated, Dormont means "Mountain of Gold" in French.

Potomac is a station on the Red Line route of Pittsburgh Regional Transit's light rail network. It is located in Dormont, Pennsylvania. The station serves as a small commuter stop, featuring 22 parking spaces. It is located in a densely populated residential area and is designed to provide the primary access route for area residents to Downtown Pittsburgh.

The South Hills is the southern suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Two suburban municipalities that are included in the South Hills outside of Pittsburgh are Bethel Park and Mt. Lebanon, as well as the boroughs of Castle Shannon, Dormont, and Green Tree. The South Hills also includes the townships of Baldwin, Collier, Scott, South Park, and Upper St. Clair, plus the boroughs of Baldwin (not to be confused with the previously mentioned township of Baldwin), Brentwood, Bridgeville, Heidelberg, Jefferson Hills, Mount Oliver, Pleasant Hills, West Mifflin, and Whitehall. Much of the South Hills was originally a land grant to John Ormsby.

West Liberty Avenue, Dormont's main artery, is located one block uphill from the station, in a portion of the street that is lined with automobile dealerships. Opposite the commercial sector, a densely populated residential area is located with many homes within walking distance of the station.

The street level stop was located on a small island platform in the middle of Broadway Avenue, through which the T travels along former streetcar tracks. The station served a densely populated residential area through which bus service is limited because of the hilly terrain. Neeld was one of eleven stops closed on June 25, 2012 as part of a system-wide consolidation effort.

Keystone Oaks School District is a small, public school district in suburban Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The district consists of 3 non-contiguous communities and encompasses approximately 5 square miles (13 km2). It was formed in 1965 after the merger of three smaller districts serving Dormont, Castle Shannon (except for a portion that is served by the Bethel Park School District), and Green Tree. The district's name refers to a "key" to a door for Dormont, a "stone" in a castle for Castle Shannon and the "oaks" of Green Tree.According to 2000 federal census data, Keystone Oaks School District serves a resident population of 22,580 people. The district operates five schools: Aiken Elementary (K-5 in Green Tree), Dormont Elementary (K-5 in Dormont), Myrtle Elementary (K-5 in Castle Shannon), Keystone Oaks Middle School, and Keystone Oaks High School.

Seton LaSalle Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh. In 2016, under the direction of former school board President Tom Datillo, Seton LaSalle simplified the format of its name, changing the school's name from "Seton-La Salle Catholic High School" to "Seton LaSalle Catholic High School". However, the original format is still displayed prominently in several places, including the front of the building, and the title of this article.

Canton Avenue is a street in Pittsburgh's Beechview neighborhood which is the steepest officially recorded public street in the United States.Canton Avenue is 630 ft (190 m) long (the hill is about 213 feet long) and is claimed to include a 37% grade 21 feet (6.4 m) long. The Guinness Book of World Records says Baldwin Street, in Dunedin, New Zealand, is the world's steepest street with a gradient of 34.8%. This record is disputed; Pittsburgh news and international media have claimed Canton Avenue is the steepest street in the world. The United States record is also disputed, as Bradford Street in San Francisco includes a 39% grade nine meters long and Waipio Valley Road has sections as steep as a 45% grade. The National Map says the steep 213 feet of Canton Avenue averages less than 30%. The map's elevations can be off by a foot or two; probably Pennsylvania's LIDAR surveys done in the last few years can do better. Google Earth says the street averages 29% for 212 feet. In March 2016 Canton Avenue was the subject of a commercial, featuring freeskier Bene Mayr, snowboarder Heikki Sorsa, downhill mountain biker Aaron Gwin, and racing driver Mattias Ekström for the Audi Quattro A4 automobile.
