González Catán

Aeroclub Argentino (ICAO: SADS) is a public use airport located near San Justo, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Google Earth Historical Imagery (9/1/2012) shows former grass Runway 16/34 was abandoned in 2012. Current Google Maps shows Runway 12/30 is unmarked.

Rafael Castillo (Spanish: [rafaˈel kasˈtiʝo]) is a western suburb of Buenos Aires, located in La Matanza Partido, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It is part of the urban agglomeration of Greater Buenos Aires. It is named after Rafael Castillo, lawyer and politician who served as the minister of the Interior of Argentina from 1904 to 1906 and owner of the lands where he planned the establishment of the town. Rafael Castillo was declared a city by the Provincial Legislature on 18 October 1974.According to the 2010 Census, the city had a total population of 147,965.

Isidro Casanova is a city in La Matanza Partido, Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. It borders the towns of Villa Luzuriaga, San Justo, Ciudad Evita, Rafael Castillo, Laferrere, and Ezeiza.

The Fragata Presidente Sarmiento is a multi-use stadium in Isidro Casanova, Argentina. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Almirante Brown. The stadium has a capacity of 25,000 spectators and it opened in 1969.

Pontevedra is a city located in Merlo Partido, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The town was named after the homonymous city of Pontevedra, Spain. Pontevedra was founded in 1871 by real estate promoters, in the estates belonging to the Irish landlord Thomas Gahan, member of Merlo's first municipal government in 1865. Pontevedra is a small town surrounded by small truck farms, connected to Merlo, Libertad and González Catán . The city is bordered by Parque San Martín and Libertad (north), Mariano Acosta (west), González Catán (east) and Veinte de Junio (south), both in La Matanza Partido, and Marcos Paz (south). According to the 2001 census [INDEC], the population was 33,515.

Morón Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto de Morón) (ICAO: SADM) is 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) southwest of the center of Morón, a western suburb of Buenos Aires in the Buenos Aires Province of Argentina. The airport is located within a densely populated metropolitan area. The runway length includes a 515 metres (1,690 ft) displaced threshold on Runway 20. The El Palomar VOR-DME (Ident: PAL) is located 4.1 nautical miles (8 km) north-northeast of the airport.

The National Aeronautics Museum "Brigadier Edmundo Civati Bernasconi" (Spanish: Museo Nacional de Aeronáutica) is an Argentine museum located in the city of Morón, Buenos Aires. Established in 1960, the museum is dedicated to the history of aviation, in particular the Argentine Air Force. Its collection includes some unique aircraft, like the Pulqui I and Pulqui II jet prototypes, the Urubú flying wing glider, the I.Ae. 22 DL trainer, and a Latécoère XXV flown by Antoine de Saint Exupéry.

Ciudad Evita is a city in the partido of La Matanza in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, located 20 kilometers (13 mi) from Downtown Buenos Aires within the Greater Buenos Aires metro area. Ciudad Evita has a population of 68,650 (2001).

Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional Ministro Pistarini) (IATA: EZE, ICAO: SAEZ), also known as Ezeiza International Airport owing to its location in Ezeiza in Greater Buenos Aires, is an international airport 22 kilometres (14 mi) south-southwest of the autonomous city of Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina. Covering 3,475 hectares (13.42 sq mi; 8,590 acres) it is one of two commercial airports serving Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area, along with Aeroparque Jorge Newbery. Pistarini Airport is the country's largest international airport by number of passengers handled—85% of international traffic—and is a hub for international flights of Aerolíneas Argentinas, which operates domestic services from the airport as well. It has been operated by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 S.A. since 1998.

Ruta Nacional 3 ("National Route 3") is an Argentine highway, stretching from the eastern side of the country in Buenos Aires, crossing the provinces of Buenos Aires, Río Negro, Chubut Province, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego. Since its start at Avenida General Paz (A001) until the end, on the bridge over Lapataia River, it measures 3,045 kilometres (1,892 mi). The road is interrupted between km 2674 and 2696, due to the presence of Magellan Strait, which forces access between Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego Provinces through Chile, over Ruta CH-255 and Ruta CH-257 paved 57 kilometres (35 mi) north of the strait and another paved and treated 148 kilometres (92 mi) long south of it. The crossing of the Magellan Strait is done in 20 minutes through the use of a ferry traversing the width of 4.65 kilometres (2.89 mi) at that point.After National Decree 1931 of 3 August 1983, this road is called Comandante Luis Piedrabuena south of National Route 22, that is starting at km marker 719.

In 1989, 40 members of Movimiento Todos por la Patria (MTP) attacked the military barracks in La Tablada, in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. 39 people were killed and 60 injured by the time the Argentine army retook the barracks. The MTP was commanded by former ERP leader Enrique Gorriarán Merlo. It carried out the assault under the alleged pretense of preventing a military coup supposedly planned for the end of January 1989 by the Carapintadas, a group of far-right military officers who opposed the investigations and trials concerning Argentina's last civil-military dictatorship (1976-1983). The Argentine president of the time, Raúl Alfonsín declared that the attack, which carried the ultimate goal of sparking a massive popular uprising, could have led to a civil war. Given a life sentence and imprisoned, as his comrades, in high security quarters, Gorriarán Merlo was eventually freed in 2003. He died on 22 September 2006 while awaiting surgery for an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
