Grafton, Shropshire

Yeaton is a small village in Shropshire, England. It is situated in the parish of Baschurch. The River Perry flows by to the south, and on the other side is the hamlet of Grafton.

Broomfields is a hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is located north of Montford Bridge and near to the hamlets of Forton Heath and Grafton. It is in the parish of Montford. It used to have its own 7 1/4 gauge garden railway at Broomfields Villa called Broomfields Garden Railway (BGR) from the late 1980s until 2008 when the house was sold, a video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLkMdJS7jho Looking from Google Earth the trackbed around the field the track used to be is visible. Walford is a small village in Shropshire, England. It is notable for its agricultural college (Walford and North Shropshire College). The B5067, Shrewsbury to Baschurch road, runs through the village. The northern part of the village, which includes the college, is in the parish of Baschurch. The southern part, known as Walford Heath, is situated at the crossroads of the B5067 road with the Merrington to Yeaton lane, and is in the parish of Pimhill. The speed limit here has recently been reduced to 40 mph. There are a number of commercial premises and a post box. Immediately to the east of Walford Heath lies the hamlet of Old Woods.

Royal Air Force Montford Bridge, or more simply RAF Montford Bridge, is a former Royal Air Force satellite station, located near Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.

Forton Heath is a hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is located north of Montford Bridge, near to the small village of Fitz and near to the hamlets of Broomfields, Mytton and Grafton. It is in the parish of Pimhill. There is a large disused airfield here.

Adcote School is a non-selective independent day and boarding school for girls, located in the village of Little Ness, 5 miles (8.0 km) northwest of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. The school was founded in 1907, and is set in a Grade I listed country house built in 1879 for Rebecca Darby, the widow of Alfred Darby I (1807–52) and a great niece of Abraham Darby. The Darbys were the iron-master family who built Ironbridge. The school has a Junior School that takes girls aged 7 to 11, a Senior School for girls aged 11 to 16 and a Sixth Form taking girls from 16 to 19. As of April 2016, the school is owned by IQ Education (IQE), a Chinese backed education company based in Birmingham. The school transferred from a charity to a limited company status, managed by IQ Schools Group. The school is a sister school to Myddelton College in Denbigh, owned by the same company.The school is a member of the Girls School Association, the Independent Schools Association (ISA) and the Independent Schools Council. On 26 February 2021, the school won the 'ISA Senior School of the Year Award'.

Mytton is a hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is situated in the parish of Pimhill, near to the small village of Fitz. Jonnie Woodall (1946-2009), Olympian bobsledder and luger, lived in Mytton at the time of his death.

The River Perry is a river in Shropshire, England. It rises near Oswestry and flows south to meet the River Severn above Shrewsbury. Along its 24 miles (39 km) length, its level drops by some 320 feet (95 m). The channel has been heavily engineered, both to enable water mills to be powered by it, and to improve the drainage of the surrounding land. There were at least seven corn mills in the 1880s, and the last one remained operational until 1966. The middle section of the river crosses Baggy Moor, where major improvements were made in 1777 to drain the moor. The scheme was one of the largest to enclose and improve land in North Shropshire, and the quality of the reclaimed land justified the high cost. A section of the river bed was lowered in the 1980s, to continue the process. The river is crossed by the Llangollen Canal, and by several bridges which are on the Listed Buildings register. It has formerly suffered from pollution, both from the discharge of poorly treated sewage from two treatment works, and from effluent from factories producing dairy products. These are now well-regulated, but the river was the scene of a major pollution incident in 1985, when pig slurry discharged into it, killing around 100,000 fish.

Baschurch is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. It lies in the north of Shropshire. The village had a population of 2,503 as of the 2011 census. Shrewsbury is to the south-east, Oswestry is to the north-west, and Wem is to the north-east of Baschurch. The village is also close to Ruyton-XI-Towns.

Fitz is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Pimhill, in Shropshire, England. It is close to the River Severn, downstream from Montford Bridge and upstream of Shelton, near Shrewsbury. In 1931 the parish had a population of 241. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished to form Pimhill, part also went to Montford.Fitz has a red brick church named for Saint Peter and Saint Paul, built in 1722 and restored in 1915 by Sir Aston Webb. Eighteenth-century mathematician Edward Waring is buried in the churchyard. Fitz Manor, which dates at the oldest to about 1450, is run as a bed and breakfast establishment and is grade II listed building.

Fitz Manor is a manor house in the village of Fitz near Montford Bridge, Shropshire, England. It is a Grade II* listed building.The manor, which overlooks the River Severn, was built in 1450, although the original structure is believed to have been a Saxon Hall. The manor was owned at one time by the bishop of Shrewsbury and it had its own church. In the 20th century it came into the ownership of the Baly family. The rooms are named by colours, for instance the "Red Bedroom" and "Orange Bedroom". The manor is reportedly haunted. There have been documented sightings of a homosexual priest who was purportedly crucified in the dining room, the figure of a lady in the red room and cemetery, and the ghost of a strong tobacco smoker smelt but not seen. The manor has been subject to an investigation by Most Haunted

The Corbet School is a mixed secondary school located in Baschurch in the English county of Shropshire.Originally known as Baschurch Secondary Modern School, later the school became comprehensive and went on to gain specialist status as a Technology College. In September 2011 The Corbet School converted to academy status. The Corbet School offers GCSEs and Cambridge Nationals as programmes of study for pupils.
