Berriew F.C.

St Beuno’s Church is the parish church of Berriew, in the historic county of Montgomeryshire, now Powys. The church stands in an almost oval churchyard in the centre of the village. The original church was a single-chamber, with a wooden west bellcote and a northchancel chapel. This church was replaced in 1803-4 with a larger brick church by the architect John Hiram Haycock of Shrewsbury. It was of brick with stone dressings, and had the entry under a pinnacled west tower to a galleried nave with four round-headed windows a side. The church was largely rebuilt by his grandson, Edward Haycock, Junior in 1876. It consists of a nave, aisles, chancel, north porch, and west tower The west tower has the doorway blocked, stone facing for brick, and Gothic windows, except for the circular ones on its second stage.

Berriew (Welsh: Aberriw) is a village and community in Montgomeryshire, Powys, Wales. It is on the Montgomeryshire Canal and the Afon Rhiw, near the confluence (Welsh: aber) with the River Severn (Welsh: Afon Hafren) at grid reference SJ185005, 79 miles (128 km) from Cardiff and 151 miles (243 km) from London. The village itself had a population of 283. and the community also includes Garthmyl Hall and Refail.

Vaynor Park is a country house in a landscaped park, standing on high ground to the south-west of Berriew village, in the historic county of Montgomeryshire, now Powys. The origins of the house date from the mid-15th century, but the house was extensively re-built in brick about 1640. The house was further re-modelled in 1840–1853 by Thomas Penson. The house is listed Grade II* and the garden and park is on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales

Brithdir is an area in the community of Berriew, Powys, Wales, which is 78 miles (126 km) from Cardiff and 151 miles (243 km) from London. It lies to the north-east of Berriew and is noted for its motte and bailey castle.

Caerhowel Bridge (Welsh: Pont Caerhywel) is a two-arch cast-iron, Grade II listed bridge over the River Severn, west of Caerhowel, Powys, Wales. The 6.6-metre-wide (22 ft) bridge was built on the site of a previous bridge which was possibly destroyed around the late 13th century. A redesigned timber bridge was destroyed after the River Severn flooded in 1852 and a subsequent bridge fell in 1858. The present-day bridge was designed by Thomas Penson making it the third cast-iron bridge in Montgomeryshire and was renovated in the early 21st century.

The River Camlad (or just Camlad) is a minor river in Powys and Shropshire. It forms part of the border between Wales and England in places, before flowing into the River Severn. It is notable for being the only river to cross from England into Wales and does so twice. The river originates in England, in the area between Snead and Lydham, flows west, forming part of the border between Wales and England, before flowing northwest into Wales. It passes through Church Stoke, where the River Caebitra flows into the Camlad. From Church Stoke it flows north, crossing the border back into England, and flows just east of Chirbury before turning west again, and forms the border (for the second time) between England and Wales. It turns northwest into Wales (for the second time) to join the River Severn to the west of Forden.

Montgomery railway station served the town of Montgomery, Powys, Wales between 1861 and 1965.

Abernant is a hamlet near Montgomery, Powys and is 75 miles (121 km) from Cardiff and 150 miles (242 km) from London.The spring forms above Abernant, near the summit of Banc y Celyn (472m), and runs through Abernant to join the River Wye. There is a large adventure centre, a branch of Manor Adventure, that operates from an old hotel in Abernant. There is also a mine in the hills outside the village.

Belan is a hamlet, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) southwest of Welshpool, in Powys, Wales. It belongs to the community of Welshpool. The Belan Locks, built around 1800 as part of the Montgomery Canal, are nearby.

Hen Domen Welsh, meaning "old mound", is the site of a medieval timber motte-and-bailey castle in Powys, Wales. It is the site of the original Montgomery Castle, and was built by Roger de Montgomery in 1070. From 1105 the castle was the home of the de Boulers (Bowdler) family, and it is from Baldwin de Boulers that Montgomery gets its Welsh name, Trefaldwyn "The Town of Baldwin". When the castle was rebuilt in stone (1223–1234), it was decided to rebuild it on a rocky promontory a mile to the south-east – the location of the current town of Montgomery, Powys. The Hen Domen site has been extensively excavated.There are permanent exhibitions relating to both the medieval Hen Domen and Norman Montgomery Castles and their archaeological excavations (with scale models of both castles) in The Old Bell Museum in Montgomery.

Forden railway station was a station in Forden, Powys, Wales. The station was opened on 10 June 1861 by the Oswestry and Newtown Railway on the section of line between Welshpool and Newtown. The station originally had a single platform on the western side of line (along with a goods shed and associated siding), but in 1897 a passing loop was installed here along with signal box and second platform. After the 1923 Grouping, the Great Western Railway took over operation of the line and two year later they doubled the section eastwards to Welshpool to add additional capacity on what had become a busy main line. Service levels were modest throughout this period, with the 1922 timetable having five eastbound and four westbound trains calling Mon-Sat and no Sunday service.The station passed into the hands of British Railways upon nationalisation in January 1948; by 1955 a modest improvement in the timetable saw seven eastbound trains calling and five westbound, but by the early 1960s the service had reverted to pre-grouping levels once more (albeit with a nominal Sunday service of one train in the eastbound direction only). The Beeching Report of 1963 listed the Cambrian main line for retention but proposed the elimination of all wayside stations (only Welshpool, Newtown and Machynlleth were to be kept, though Caersws was subsequently reprieved). Goods facilities were withdrawn from 4 May 1964, with formal consent to closure granted at the end of that year; final closure took effect from 14 June 1965.The signal box continued in use until 1969, when the line to Welshpool was singled. The main buildings and platforms were subsequently demolished, but both the signal box and station house were retained and sold by BR. These still stand (as of spring 2016), having been adapted for use as private residential accommodation.

Tŷ Mawr is a Grade I-listed timber framed house in the township of Trefnant in the historic parish of Castle Caereinion, Montgomeryshire, Wales. Originally occupied by the Lloyd family, descendants of Alo ap Rhiwallon who had settled in Trefnant in the 13th century, the house was re-discovered in 1971 and fully restored to its late 17th-century appearance in 1997–8. The restoration gained the RICSs "Building of the Year" award in 2000. In 2001, a volume of the Montgomeryshire Collections was devoted to a detailed description of the discovery and the research programme that was carried out on the building. The house is open on an occasional basis or by appointment.
