WPXL-TV

WLAE-TV (channel 32) is an educational independent television station in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. The station is owned by the Educational Broadcasting Foundation, a partnership between the Willwoods Community (a Catholic-related organization) and the Louisiana Educational Television Authority (operator of Louisiana Public Broadcasting, which owns the PBS member stations in Louisiana that are located outside of New Orleans). WLAE's studios are located on Howard Avenue in New Orleans, and its transmitter is located on Paris Road/Highway 47 (northeast of Chalmette).

WFFX (103.7 FM; "Voodoo 103.7") is a radio station licensed to Marrero, Louisiana, and serving the New Orleans metropolitan area with a hot adult contemporary format. Owned by iHeartMedia, the station was first established in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, in 1966 as WFOR-FM.

WWL-FM (105.3 MHz) is a commercial radio radio station licensed to Kenner, Louisiana, and serving the New Orleans metropolitan area. It is owned by Audacy, Inc. WWL-FM and sister station WWL 870 AM simulcast a News - Talk - Sports radio format. The studios and offices are in the 400 Poydras Tower in the New Orleans Central Business District. WWL-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 96,000 watts. Its transmitter site is off Paris Road in Chalmette, Louisiana. WWL-FM broadcasts in the HD Radio hybrid format, with its HD2 digital subchannel carrying both Infinity Sports Network and shows on food and lifestyles.

WNOE-FM (101.1 MHz) is a country music station based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The iHeartMedia outlet broadcasts with an ERP of 100 kW. Its transmitter is located in New Orleans' East Area, and its studios are located downtown.

The Paris Road Bridge is the name of the bridge carrying Louisiana Highway 47 across the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet between St. Bernard Parish and New Orleans East in Louisiana, United States. It is also known as the Green Bridge. The name "Green Bridge" came from it originally being painted green. It was repainted brown in 1980, and recently repainted grey, but locals continue to call it "the Green Bridge". The bridge was built by the Army Corps of Engineers and opened to traffic on July 21, 1967 with the bridge being completed on November 14 of that year.Interstate 510 ends just north of the bridge. Both ends of the bridge are in Orleans Parish, but Chalmette is a short distance south of the bridge, which provides the most important road link for St. Bernard Parish, and is one of only four routes into the parish, the others being Judge Perez Drive, the Chalmette Ferry, and the St. Bernard Highway.

WVUE-DT (channel 8), branded on-air as Fox 8, is a television station in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, affiliated with the Fox network. Owned by Gray Television, the station maintains primary studios on Norman C. Francis Parkway in the city's Gert Town section, with a secondary studio within the Benson Tower in downtown New Orleans; its transmitter is located on Magistrate Street in Chalmette, Louisiana.

KMEZ, better known as "KMEZ 102.9", is an Urban AC outlet serving the New Orleans area. The Cumulus Media station is licensed to Belle Chasse, Louisiana and broadcasts its format at 102.9 MHz with an ERP of 4.7 kW. Its studios are located at the Place St. Charles building in Downtown New Orleans and the transmitter site is in Chalmette, Louisiana.

WYES-TV (channel 12) is a PBS member television station in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, owned by the Greater New Orleans Educational Television Foundation. The station's studios are located on Navarre Avenue in the city's Navarre neighborhood, and its transmitter is located on Magistrate Street in Chalmette. WYES-TV is the only independently owned public television station in Louisiana as it is not part of Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB), which owns all of the PBS member stations in the state that are located outside of New Orleans, and maintains a programming agreement with and partial ownership of the city's independent public television station, WLAE-TV (channel 32). WYES-TV is also available on cable providers in Biloxi and Gulfport, Mississippi, despite the presence of Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) transmitter WMAH-TV. WYES-TV carries PBS and American Public Television (APT) distributed programs, as well as programs from other distributors. Many national programs produced by WYES-TV are distributed by APT.

Nunez Community College (NCC) is a public community college in Chalmette, Louisiana. Its full name is Elaine P. Nunez Community College; it was named for the deceased wife of former Louisiana State Senate President Samuel B. Nunez.Its service area includes St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes.

The Florida Canal or 40 Arpent Canal is a canal in the New Orleans metropolitan area and land down river. The canal was built in the 18th century colonial era of Louisiana, stretching from what is now the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans, roughly paralleling the Mississippi River on the East Bank down through modern Saint Bernard Parish and part of the East Bank of Plaquemines. Colonial land grants commonly stretched 40 arpents back from the Mississippi River. The canal thus marked the back end of properties, mostly originally plantations. In this area this line happened to generally be about the limit of land useful for cultivation where the higher land of the natural river levee ended in swamp. The "40 Arpent Canal" was used by small vessels for commerce between nearby plantations; larger vessels and longer range shipping used the Mississippi. The earth moved to dig the canal was used to create a raised roadway on the river side of the canal, called the "Florida Walk". With development and the construction of additional perpendicular canals in the 19th and 20th century, the old 40 Arpent Canal was divided into several discontinuous canals. Florida Walk became Florida Avenue, although discontinued in some areas either by being developed over or being allowed to fall back into wilderness. In some places such as New Orleans the remaining pieces of the canal became known as the "Florida Canal", while in parts of Saint Bernard and Plaquemines the old "40 Arpent Canal" name is still used. No longer used for shipping, the canal is still used for drainage, and in places some small pleasure and fishing boats. Down river from the Industrial Canal, the Florida Canal still marks the inland boundary of the Lower 9th Ward neighborhood of New Orleans and communities such as Arabi and Chalmette. Levees and floodwalls constructed on the back side of the canal help protect settled areas from flooding. These levees in back of the canal were overtopped by storm surges during Hurricane Katrina in 2005; to do this the storm surge needed to first top the larger levees abutting the MR-GO and travel through the wetlands between MR-GO and the 40 Arpent Canal back levee. In December 2005 it was announced that in Saint Bernard Parish the 40 Arpent Canal back levee would be increased in height to help offer some temporary protection until more comprehensive work could be done on MR-GO.

The New Orleans Power Station is a natural gas–fired electrical power plant in New Orleans. It is operated by Entergy New Orleans and regulated by the New Orleans City Council. It is located at the foot of the Paris Road Bridge in the New Orleans East neighborhood. The plant's reciprocating engine units have a total capacity of 128 megawatts (172,000 hp).
