Gardom's Edge

Birchen Edge is a gritstone rock face in the Peak District, England, popular with walkers and novice climbers as most of the climbing routes are in the lower grade.

Barbrook One (grid reference SK27857558) is a stone circle on Ramsley Moor in the Peak District.

Curbar Edge is a gritstone moorland escarpment above the village of Curbar, in Derbyshire, England and close to the villages of Baslow, Calver, and Froggatt. It is located within the Peak District National Park at an altitude of 958 ft (292 m). It is regarded as a significant location for rock climbing, both regionally and nationally, in terms of both the historical development of the sport and as the location of first ascents.

Baslow is a village in Derbyshire, England, in the Peak District, situated between Sheffield and Bakewell, just over 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Chatsworth House. It is sited by the River Derwent, which is spanned by a 17th-century bridge, alongside which is a contemporary toll house. Baslow village is composed of several distinct areas: Bubnell, Bridge End, Over End and Nether End. The village's civil parish is called Baslow and Bubnell, which in the 2011 census had a population of 1,178.

Chatsworth House is a stately home in the Derbyshire Dales, 4 miles (6.4 km) north-east of Bakewell and 9 miles (14 km) west of Chesterfield, England. The seat of the Duke of Devonshire, it has belonged to the Cavendish family since 1549. It stands on the east bank of the River Derwent, across from hills between the Derwent and Wye valleys, amid parkland backed by wooded hills that rise to heather moorland. The house holds major collections of paintings, furniture, Old Master drawings, neoclassical sculptures and books. Chosen several times as Britain's favourite country house, it is a Grade I listed property from the 17th century, altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. In 2011–2012 it underwent a £14-million restoration. The owner is the Chatsworth House Trust, an independent charitable foundation formed in 1981, on behalf of the Cavendish family.

Gibbet Moor is a small gritstone upland area in the Derbyshire Peak District of central and northern England, near the village of Baslow. Its highest point is 295 metres (968 ft) above sea level. The Chatsworth Estate lies to the west and Umberley Brook runs along its east edge. East Moor is the broader moorland area covering Gibbet Moor, Brampton East Moor and Beeley Moor. Gibbet Moor is a prehistoric landscape with several protected Scheduled Ancient Monuments.A gibbet was a wooden structure (like a gallows), where the dead bodies of criminals were hung on display. The last person to be gibbeted alive in England was a vagrant who was begging for food around Baslow and killed a woman in her cottage. The murderer was left to die in a gibbet cage on Gibbet Moor in the 17th century.A widespread Bronze Age settlement covers a stretch of moorland over 1km long. The complex includes a stone circle, more than 250 cairns, cemeteries of burial mounds (barrows) and remains of field enclosures and building platforms of probable farm houses. The stone circle has an outer ring of standing stones about 10m in diameter, with an inner square of standing stones (with three of the "four poster" stones remaining). The historic landscape has been modified by World War II training exercises. The site is a Scheduled Monument. To the west of the large prehistoric settlement is another cairnfield and field system, which is a separate Scheduled Monument. This formed part of the same Bronze Age cultivation landscape but was separated by more recent land enclosures. A Bronze Age cairn cemetery on the eastern edge of the moor is a further Scheduled Monument. The largest cairn is 10m long with at least seven other cairns nearby.Hob Hurst's House is an unusual square Bronze Age burial cairn on Harland Edge (between Gibbet Moor and Beeley Moor). Thomas Bateman excavated the barrow in 1853 and discovered a stone cist containing cremated remains. It has been a protected national monument since 1882.Until 1824 Gibbet Moor was common land and then the Enclosures Act allocated the land of Gibbet Moor to the Duke of Rutland. In an exchange of lands, the 6th Duke of Devonshire acquired the 652 acres of Gibbet Moor to extend his Chatsworth Estate to the east.Gibbet Moor became "Open Access" land for the public, following the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. The Peak District Boundary Walk runs along the track on the west side of the moor. The area can be accessed by a track from the A619 road.

Curbar is a village and civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England. The population based on the 2011 Census was 417. Curbar is situated a mile north of Baslow, close to Calver on the A623. The village has a street (Bar Road) with the highest average house value in Derbyshire. Close to the east are the popular rock-climbing escarpments of Curbar Edge and Baslow Edge. To the west of the village is the River Derwent. The parish church is dedicated to All Saints. Immediately to the south of the church stands Curbar Primary School, which serves the three villages of Curbar, Calver and Froggatt. The school is the custodian of an old May custom known as the Maybough. On the first of May, or as soon as possible thereafter, a tree-branch is brought into school and decorated with flowers by the children. The Maybough is taken to various points in Curbar and Calver, where it is displayed to the accompaniment of songs and a dance. Several attempts have been made to ascertain the origin of the Maybough. The event was originally performed by the villagers rather than the school, the switchover taking place around the time of the First World War.

The Emperor Fountain is a 19th-century fountain in the grounds of Chatsworth House, Derbyshire, England. The Canal Pond in which the fountain stands is 283 metres (928 ft) long and 30 metres (98 ft) wide. The fountain and pairs of surrounding sculptures has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade II listed building.

Cliff College is a Christian theological college in Calver, Derbyshire, that teaches Biblical Theology at the undergraduate level and a number of mission courses to postgraduates. There are currently about 30 full-time undergraduates, 80 part-time undergraduates and 100 part-time postgraduates. There are also a number of research (MPhil and PhD) students and full-time postgraduates enrolled at the College. College courses up to and including MA level are validated by University of Manchester, and students at higher levels are jointly enrolled at both institutions. The college hosts the UK headquarters of the Girls' Brigade.

The column of the Temple of Poseidon is one of the surviving features from the period of the sixth Duke of Devonshire in the Chatsworth House garden. Surmounted by an over life-sized bronze bust of the sixth Duke, the classical Greek column composed of four Doric marble drums was erected in 1840s. It is located at the south termination of the Serpentine Hedge, by the midpoint of a footpath linking between the Maze and the south end of the Broadwalk. The object has been Grade II registered since 1987.
