Oldwoods Halt railway station

Old Woods is a hamlet in Shropshire, England, located 4 miles (6.4 km) to the north-west of Shrewsbury. It is alternatively known and spelt as Oldwood, Oldwoods and Old Wood.

Fitz Manor is a manor house in the village of Fitz near Montford Bridge, Shropshire, England. It is a Grade II* listed building.The manor, which overlooks the River Severn, was built in 1450, although the original structure is believed to have been a Saxon Hall. The manor was owned at one time by the bishop of Shrewsbury and it had its own church. In the 20th century it came into the ownership of the Baly family. The rooms are named by colours, for instance the "Red Bedroom" and "Orange Bedroom". The manor is reportedly haunted. There have been documented sightings of a homosexual priest who was purportedly crucified in the dining room, the figure of a lady in the red room and cemetery, and the ghost of a strong tobacco smoker smelt but not seen. The manor has been subject to an investigation by Most Haunted

Fitz is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Pimhill, in Shropshire, England. It is close to the River Severn, downstream from Montford Bridge and upstream of Shelton, near Shrewsbury. In 1931 the parish had a population of 241. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished to form Pimhill, part also went to Montford.Fitz has a red brick church named for Saint Peter and Saint Paul, built in 1722 and restored in 1915 by Sir Aston Webb. Eighteenth-century mathematician Edward Waring is buried in the churchyard. Fitz Manor, which dates at the oldest to about 1450, is run as a bed and breakfast establishment and is grade II listed building.

Leaton is a small village in Shropshire, England. It is situated on the B5067, Shrewsbury to Baschurch road, in the parish of Pimhill. The village has an impressive church, the Holy Trinity. This was built in 1859, with the tower added in 1872, by Shrewsbury architect Samuel Pountney Smith. The churchyard contains the war graves of a King's Shropshire Light Infantry soldier of World War I and a RAF officer of World War II.The Shrewsbury to Chester Line runs through, though the nearest railway station is at Shrewsbury, as the former Leaton railway station closed to passengers in 1960. The signal box went in 1988, but today there remains a level crossing. A small industrial estate now exists at the former railway sidings. There once existed the Leaton Brick and Pipe Works, one of a number of clay-based industries in the area. North of the village on the main road junction with the road to Montford Bridge is a war memorial cross on a nonagonal plinth listing local men who died serving in the First World War and those who served and returned from the war.Just to the south of Leaton is the hamlet of Dunnsheath.

Merrington is a small village in Shropshire, England. It is situated to the north of the larger village of Bomere Heath and lies in the parish of Pimhill. Nearby, to the west, is the hamlet of Old Woods.

Walford is a small village in Shropshire, England. It is notable for its agricultural college (Walford and North Shropshire College). The B5067, Shrewsbury to Baschurch road, runs through the village. The northern part of the village, which includes the college, is in the parish of Baschurch. The southern part, known as Walford Heath, is situated at the crossroads of the B5067 road with the Merrington to Yeaton lane, and is in the parish of Pimhill. The speed limit here has recently been reduced to 40 mph. There are a number of commercial premises and a post box. Immediately to the east of Walford Heath lies the hamlet of Old Woods.

Bomere Heath ( BOW-mə) is a village in Shropshire, England, which lies north of the county town of Shrewsbury and between Baschurch and Harlescott. It is situated between the A528 road and Berwick Road. The village has a primary school. It is the main village of the Pimhill parish. The parish is now known as "Bomere Heath and District". Nearby, to the north, is the small village of Merrington. The village has a few shops including a Co-op food store, a barber's shop, a post office, pub and a fish and chip restaurant.

Leaton railway station was a minor station located about six miles north of Shrewsbury on the GWR's Paddington to Birkenhead main line. Today this is part of the Shrewsbury to Chester line. It was at the top of the long climb up Hencote bank out of Shrewsbury. The station opened on 12 October 1848 and closed on 12 September 1960. The station building (now a private house) can still be seen on the north side of the adjacent Leaton level crossing on the east side of the line. A small industrial estate now exists at the former railway sidings.

Yeaton is a small village in Shropshire, England. It is situated in the parish of Baschurch. The River Perry flows by to the south, and on the other side is the hamlet of Grafton.

Mytton is a hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is situated in the parish of Pimhill, near to the small village of Fitz. Jonnie Woodall (1946-2009), Olympian bobsledder and luger, lived in Mytton at the time of his death.

Forton Heath is a hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is located north of Montford Bridge, near to the small village of Fitz and near to the hamlets of Broomfields, Mytton and Grafton. It is in the parish of Pimhill. There is a large disused airfield here.

Pimhill is a geographically large civil parish in Shropshire, England, to the north of Shrewsbury. It is named after a hill, which rises to 163 m, sometimes spelt Pim Hill. In recent times the parish is more well known as "Bomere Heath and District". As well as the large village of Bomere Heath, the small villages of Albrighton, Fitz, Leaton, Merrington and Preston Gubbals, as well as the hamlets of Crossgreen, Dunnsheath, Forton Heath, Grafton, Mytton, Old Woods and Walford Heath, lie in the parish. The 2001 census recorded 2008 people living in the parish, in 853 households, the population increasing to 2,118 at the 2011 Census.Near Pim Hill is Lea Hall, a notable Elizabethan brick house and dovecote. The Battle of Shrewsbury (1403) was fought in the eastern part of the parish, near the present settlement of Battlefield, though much of the battlefield now lies in the parish of Shrewsbury.The River Severn forms the parish boundary to the south, whilst the River Perry flows through the south-western area of the parish. The parish has numerous woodlands and coppices, making it quite a wooded area overall. On the hill itself is a stone carving of a naked woman which has been dubbed by some as the "Rock Lady". Its origin is as yet unknown. Its earliest sighting on record is 1993 but it is thought to date much further back this.
