Torah Ore (Hebrew: ישיבת תורה אור, "Torah is Light") is an American Orthodox post-high-school yeshiva and kollel located in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Kiryat Mattersdorf. It was founded in 1960 in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York, by Rabbi Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg. The yeshiva moved to Jerusalem in 1965 and entered its present location in 1971. As of 2013, Torah Ore enrolls approximately 300 undergraduate students and 600 kollel (married) students. It has thousands of alumni, many of whom became prominent rabbis, rosh yeshivas, and lay leaders of Jewish communities around the globe. Scheinberg served as rosh yeshiva of Torah Ore for over 50 years until his death in 2012; he was succeeded by his son, Rabbi Simcha Scheinberg.

Kiryat Mattersdorf (Hebrew: קרית מטרסדורף) is a Haredi neighborhood in Jerusalem. It is located on the northern edge of the mountain plateau on which central Jerusalem lies. It is named after Mattersburg (formerly Mattersdorf), a town in Austria with a long Jewish history. It borders Kiryat Itri and Romema. The main thoroughfare is Panim Meirot Street, which segues into Sorotzkin Street at the neighborhood's eastern end. In 2015, Kiryat Mattersdorf had approximately 700 residents.A lesser known name for the neighborhood is Kiryat Sheva Kehillos, in memory of the Siebengemeinden (Seven Communities) of Burgenland which were destroyed in the Holocaust, Mattersdorf being one of them.

Beth Jacob Jerusalem (Hebrew: סמינר בית יעקב למורות, Seminar Bais Yaakov LeMorot), also known as Machon Sarah Schneirer, commonly referred to as BJJ, is a Haredi religious girls seminary located in the Unsdorf neighborhood of Jerusalem. It was founded in the early 1970s by Rebbetzin Bruria David. Approximately 180 girls are educated in this elite institution each year. As of 2014, tuition per student amounted to US$15,500 and room and board is an additional US$4,000.

The Belz Great Synagogue (Hebrew: בעלזא בית המדרש הגדול, romanized: Belz Beis HaMedrash HaGadol) is an Hasidic Jewish congregation and synagogue, located at 7 Binat Yisas'har Street, in the Kiryat Belz neighborhood of Jerusalem, Israel. Designed by Aaron Ostreicher and completed in 2002, the synagogue was built by the Belz Hasidic community with financial help from its supporters around the world. With capacity for c. 6,000 worshipers, the synagogue is one of the largest synagogues in Israel.

Romema (Hebrew: רוממה, lit. Uplifted) is a neighbourhood in northwest Jerusalem, just off the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem highway at the main entrance to the city. It occupies the highest hill in Jerusalem. Romema is bordered by Kiryat Mattersdorf and Mekor Baruch.

Allenby Square, a name commemorating Field Marshal Edmund Allenby who commanded the British forces which captured Palestine in the First World War, has been bestowed at different times on two different squares in Jerusalem. This divergent naming was connected both to prestige struggles within the British forces entering Jerusalem in late 1917, leading to what became known as "the multiple surrenders", and to later vicissitudes of the struggle between Israelis and Arabs for control of the city.

The Jerusalem Central Bus Station (Hebrew: התחנה המרכזית של ירושלים, HaTahanah HaMerkazit Shel Yerushalayim, Arabic: محطة الحافلات المركزية) is the main bus depot in Jerusalem. Located on Jaffa Road near the entrance to the city, it serves Egged, Superbus and Dan intercity bus routes. City buses and light rail trains pick up and discharge passengers across the street on Jaffa Road and on Zalman Shazar Boulevard, which can be accessed via an underground pedestrian passageway. The entrance to Israel Railways' underground Navon Railway Station is located across the light rail stop in front of the station.

The Jerusalem Gate Hotel is a hotel located at the western entrance to Jerusalem, Israel. The hotel is attached to the shopping mall, Centre One. The hotel was constructed in 1988 by Heftsiba. In April 2006, the hotel was bought by American investor Morris Wilner.The hotel focuses on the Haredi, and Orthodox Jewish demographic. To this end the hotel has a mikvah on site.

Terrorist attacks were carried out on two No. 18 buses on Jaffa Road in Jerusalem, in 1996. Hamas suicide bombers killed 45 people in the attacks, which were masterminded by Mohammed Deif, using explosives prepared by Adnan Awul. These two bombings, within a few days of each other, occurred during a Hamas offensive launched after the killing of Yahya Ayyash, which also included the French Hill neighborhood attack, a suicide bombing in Ashkelon, and a terrorist attack near Dizengoff Center in Tel Aviv.

On July 2, 2008, an Arab resident of East Jerusalem identified as Hussam Taysir Duwait (also referred to as Hussam Duwiyat, Hossam Dawyyat, or erroneously as Jabr Duwait) attacked several cars on Jaffa Road in Jerusalem in a vehicle-ramming attack using a front-end loader (erroneously referred to as a bulldozer in the media), killing three people and wounding at least thirty other pedestrians, before being shot to death. Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev said that an inquiry indicated the attacker had been acting alone. A motive for the attack could not immediately be determined, but police at the scene referred to the incident as a terrorist attack. Three copycat attacks have occurred since then. This attack was the second incident in 2008 in which an Israeli Arab committed a violent act in west Jerusalem while carrying an Israeli ID Card (allowing for freedom of movement and travel throughout Israel), the first being the Mercaz HaRav massacre in early March 2008. On April 7, 2009, Duwait's house was demolished as a declared deterrent against future attacks, the first such demolition since 2005.

Jerusalem–Yitzhak Navon Railway Station (Hebrew: תחנת הרכבת ירושלים – יצחק נבון, Tahanat HaRakevet Yerushalaim–Yitzhak Navon; Arabic: محطة أورشليم – يتسحاق ناڤون), originally named Jerusalem–HaUma railway station is an Israel Railways passenger terminal in Jerusalem, located at 6 Shazar Avenue.The station is the eastern terminus of the Tel Aviv–Jerusalem railway. It is the world's deepest heavy-rail passenger station, the fourth deepest underground station in the world, and the deepest underground station outside the former Soviet Union, with its platforms extending down to 80 metres (260 ft) below street level. It is located across from Binyanei HaUma and constitutes part of a major public transportation hub, being situated adjacent to the Jerusalem Central Bus Station as well as next to a station serving current and future lines of the Jerusalem Light Rail. The station is named after Jerusalem native Yitzhak Navon, the fifth President of Israel.

EYAHT (Hebrew: א.י.ה.ת., an acronym for the phrase, אשה יראת ה' היא תתהלל, Eesha Yirat Adonoy Hi Tithallal, "A woman who fears God, she shall be praised", Proverbs 31:30), was a full-time college for advanced Jewish learning for women in Jerusalem. Geared to unaffiliated, college-educated and professional women aged 22–30 from English-speaking countries, EYAHT introduced women to the basics of Orthodox Judaism and encouraged them to integrate it into their lives. Most of its students became baalot teshuva ("returnees to the faith"). EYAHT has over 2,000 alumnae.
