Llithfaen

Yr Eifl, sometimes called the Rivals in English, is a group of hills on the north coast of the Llŷn Peninsula in Gwynedd, Wales. On a clear day, the views from the highest summit reach as far as the Isle of Man, the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland and the Lake District, as well as the entire sweep of Cardigan Bay. The view of Yr Eifl is especially striking from the SW coast of Anglesey, for instance from Ynys Llanddwyn. Ordnance Survey maps show a height of 564 metres, but a recent survey gives the height at 561 metres (1,841 feet).

Nant Gwrtheyrn is a Welsh Language and Heritage Centre, located near the village of Llithfaen on the northern coast of the Llŷn Peninsula, Gwynedd, in northwest Wales. It is sometimes referred to as 'the Nant' and is named after the valley where it was located, Nant Gwrtheyrn ("Vortigern's Creek"), which lies in isolation by the sea at the foot of Yr Eifl. The centre is built within the structures of the former quarrying village Porth y Nant, which was abandoned midway through World War II after the cessation of quarrying.

Carnguwch is a former civil parish in the Welsh county of Gwynedd. It was abolished in 1934, and incorporated into Pistyll. The parish included 1,179 feet (359 m) high Mynydd Carnguwch.

Tre'r Ceiri (Welsh: [treːr ˈkɛiri]) is a hillfort dating back to the Iron Age. The name means 'town of the giants', from cewri, plural of cawr, 'giant'. The settlement is located 450 metres (1,480 ft) above sea level on the slopes of Yr Eifl, a mountain on the north coast of the Llŷn Peninsula in Gwynedd, north-western Wales. Evidence suggests the settlement was first built around 200 BC, though most of the archaeological finds date from AD 150–400, showing the site continued as a settlement during the Roman occupation.Tre'r Ceiri is one of the most spectacular ancient monuments in Wales. The settlement is surrounded by stone walls that are largely intact, and which reach up to 4 metres (13 ft) in some places. Within the walls are ruins of about 150 stone houses, which would have had turf roofs. During Roman times, it may have housed up to 400 people. Historian John Davies suggests that because the settlement is so far above sea level, the huts served as habitations for summer shepherds who also had winter dwellings in the lowlands.In modern times it was first brought to popular attention by Thomas Pennant in his Tours of Wales. Its location and importance have attracted visitors for years. The hillfort has recently been the site of conservation work and footpath maintenance. An extensive survey was made in 1956.

Trefor is a village on the northern coast of the Llŷn Peninsula, in Gwynedd, Wales. It had a population of 1,067 at the 2021 Census. Trefor is in the Community of Llanaelhaearn, and Llithfaen is nearby. There is a beach in Trefor and also a shop in the village centre. It was in the historic county of Caernarfonshire.

The Trefor Quarry railway was an industrial, 1 ft 11+1⁄2 in (597 mm) narrow-gauge railway connecting the Trefor granite quarry with the pier at Llanaelhaearn on the Llŷn Peninsula.

Pistyll is a village and community in the Welsh county of Gwynedd, located on the Llŷn Peninsula midway between Nefyn and Llanaelhaearn. The Larger village of Llithfaen, and had a population of 1,113 according to the 2021 Census. The actor Rupert Davies, best known for playing the title character in Maigret, retired to the village and is buried here. The sixth century church, St. Bueno's, was used by mediaeval pilgrims travelling to Bardsey Island.

Llanaelhaearn is a village and community on the Llŷn Peninsula in the county of Gwynedd, Wales. The community includes the larger village of Trefor and has a population of 1,067, increasing to 1,117 at the 2011 Census.

Llanaelhaearn Lifeboat Station was actually located at Trefor harbour, some 2 miles (3.2 km) north west of the village of Llanaelhaearn, sitting between Porthdinllaen and Caernarfon on the Llŷn Peninsula, in Gwynedd, North Wales A lifeboat was first stationed here by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in 1883. When the lifeboat was deemed unfit for service, and with sufficient lifeboat cover locally, the station was closed in April 1901.

The A499 road is the major road of the Llŷn peninsula in North Wales. Its northern terminus is a roundabout with the A487 trunk road between Llanwnda and Llandwrog (53.0948°N 4.2824°W / 53.0948; -4.2824 (A499 road (northern end))). It then runs south-westerly along the northern coast of the peninsula, through Clynnog Fawr then turns inland crossing the peninsula to meet the southern coast at Pwllheli, it then follows that southern coast to terminate at Abersoch (52.8227°N 4.5054°W / 52.8227; -4.5054 (A499 road (southern end))). The total length is 23.4 miles. At no point is it a trunk road, although the Welsh Assembly has considered upgrading its status.

The ancient Welsh cantref of Llŷn in north-west Wales was part of the kingdom of Gwynedd for much of its history until it was included in the new county of Caernarfonshire, together with Arfon and Arllechwedd under the terms of the Statute of Rhuddlan in 1284. Trahain Goch ap Madoc, died 1325, was described as "of Llŷn".
