Lake Country

Wood Lake is a lake in a chain of five major lakes which occupies portions of the Okanagan Valley in the interior of British Columbia, Canada. The lakes of the Okanagan Valley were formed by about 8900 BP. Wood Lake is immediately south of Kalamalka Lake and in 1908 was connected to it by a dredged channel (the Oyama canal). Situated between Oyama and Winfield, it has a solid reputation for rainbow trout fishing. The lake is named after Tom Wood, who settled on the south end of the lake around 1860.The dry climate and suitable soil has encouraged development of a substantial tree fruit industry around the lake and throughout the valley. The upper watershed is heavily forested and has been logged for several decades. The lower elevation of the watershed is described as a Ponderosa pine/bunchgrass area.

Winfield (Wood Lake) Water Aerodrome (TC LID: CAY9) is located 2 nautical miles (3.7 km; 2.3 mi) north of Winfield, British Columbia, Canada.

Okanagan Centre is a neighbourhood and formal ward within Lake Country, British Columbia, Canada. It is on the east shore of Okanagan Lake to the north of Kelowna and just northwest of Winfield, another wards of the District of Lake Country.

Winfield is a neighbourhood and formal ward within the District Municipality of Lake Country, British Columbia, located adjacent to the northern city boundary of Kelowna. The community, formerly an unincorporated settlement, is now one of the four wards of Lake Country. It is situated to the north and slightly east of Kelowna, along Highway 97, in the central part of the Okanagan region. The town is adjacent to Wood Lake, which attracts summer visitors. The economy is based on light manufacturing, fruit producing and tourism, in addition to being a bedroom community for Kelowna.

Oyama is a neighbourhood and formal ward located within the district municipality of Lake Country, which is located in the Okanagan region in British Columbia, Canada. It is located at the north end of Wood Lake and at the south end of Kalamalka Lake opposite BC Highway 97.

Carr's Landing, officially Carrs, is a neighbourhood and formal ward in District Municipality of Lake Country, which is located in the Okanagan region of British Columbia, Canada. It is located by the Okanagan Lake, east of Grant Island, and north of the Okanagan Centre ward.

Grant Island is a bird sanctuary in Okanagan Lake, British Columbia, Canada. Grant Island is located in the northern half of Okanagan Lake, about one kilometre from the shores of the municipality of Lake Country (Winfield-Oyama). Grant Island is one of only two islands in Okanagan Lake, the other being Rattlesnake Island.

Predator Ridge Golf Resort is a 36-hole golf resort community in the Okanagan Valley outside Vernon, British Columbia. Predator Ridge Resort spans 1,200 acres and is home to a community of over 600 people. The community was acquired by Wesbild Holdings Ltd in 2007. Opened in 1991, Predator Ridge hosted the British Columbia Open in 1993. The original two nine-hole loops, designed by Les Furber, were named after resident birds of prey: The Osprey and The Red Tail. A third nine-hole course was built in 2000, named The Peregrine. To expand into a 36-hole golf facility, architect Doug Carrick was hired to build 9 new holes as well as renovate the original 9-hole Peregrine course. This new 18-hole golf course was renamed The Predator Course. In 2010, Carrick opened another 18-hole course which was named The Ridge Course. Predator Ridge is the only Golf Digest 4.5 star course in the Okanagan, and was voted as the best BC golf course by the Vancouver Sun.The Ridge Course is a par-72 championship 18-hole course which opened in July 2010. It was voted best new golf course in Canada in 2010 by Scoregolf. From the tournament tees, The Ridge Course measures 7123 yards with a slope rating of 133 and course rating of 73.8. The Predator course hosted the Telus World Skins Game, twice, in 2000 and 2008. It is a par-71 golf course with elevated greens and links-style bunkers. From the tournament tees, The Predator Course measures 7090 yards with a slope rating of 137 and course rating of 74.2.

Wrinkly Face Provincial Park is a provincial park 16 kilometres north of Winfield in British Columbia, Canada.

Cougar Canyon is a canyon near Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park, in the district municipality of Coldstream. It is a long canyon running along the eastern side of Kalamalka Lake. The Canyon is very popular with the local rock climbing community. The area contains over 200 bolted routes, with plenty of room for more. Part of Cougar Canyon is an ecological preserve maintained by the British Columbia Ministry of Environment.

McKinley Landing is a small, thinly-populated community on the eastern shore of Lake Okanagan in British Columbia. It was named for John McKinley, an Ontarian who homesteaded in the area for 30 years after arriving via the United States in 1896 in a covered wagon. His landing, all evidence of which is long gone, was used principally by Canadian Pacific Railway boats plying Okanagan Lake. Crews would come ashore to collect wood for the ships’ furnaces, with the vessels then chugging on to more populated places farther north and south.

Kalamalka Lake (a.k.a. "Kal Lake") is a large lake in the interior plateau of southern central British Columbia, Canada, east of Okanagan Lake. The lake is located approximately 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of the city of Vernon and is its main drinking water supply. The lake is named after the Okanagan (Okanogan U.S. spelling) First Nation chief who occupied its northern shores. At different times of the year the colour of the lake can range from cyan to indigo, in different parts at the same time, earning the lake the moniker "lake of a thousand colours". The colour of the water is derived from light scattering, caused by the precipitation of calcium carbonate (CaCO3).
