The Winchester Mystery House is a mansion in San Jose, California, that was once the personal residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of firearms magnate William Wirt Winchester. Located at 525 South Winchester Blvd. in San Jose, the Queen Anne Style Victorian mansion is renowned for its size, its architectural curiosities, and its lack of any master building plan. It is a designated California historical landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is privately owned and serves as a tourist attraction. Since its construction in 1886, the property and mansion were claimed by many to be haunted by the ghosts of those killed with Winchester rifles. Under Sarah Winchester's day-to-day guidance, its "from-the-ground-up" construction proceeded around the clock, by some accounts, without interruption, until her death on September 5, 1922, at which time work immediately ceased. However, Winchester's biographer says that she "routinely dismissed workers for months at a time 'to take such rest as I might'" and that "this flies in the face of claims by today's Mystery House proprietors that work at the ranch was ceaseless for thirty-eight years."

Westfield Valley Fair, commonly known as Valley Fair, is a prominent shopping mall in San Jose, California. Valley Fair is the largest mall, by area, in Northern California and has higher sales revenue than all other malls in California, including the two in Southern California which have larger area than Valley Fair. It is located on Stevens Creek Boulevard in West San Jose (a small portion of the mall is located within Santa Clara). The anchor stores are 2 Macy's stores, Bloomingdale's, and Nordstrom. Valley Fair consists of 214 stores, such as the only Balenciaga in Northern California, and 58 dining options, such as Eataly or Din Tai Fung, ranked as one of the world's best restaurants by the New York Times.

O'Connor Hospital is a hospital in San Jose, California, part of the Santa Clara County Health System. Located in the West San Carlos neighborhood of San Jose, O'Connor Hospital is one of the oldest hospitals in Santa Clara County, founded in 1889.

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, commonly known as Valley Medical Center or simply Valley Medical, is a prominent 731-bed public tertiary, teaching, and research hospital in San Jose, California. Located in the Fruitdale neighborhood of West San Jose, Valley Medical Center is the anchor facility of the Santa Clara County Health System, serving Santa Clara County. Valley Medical is home to numerous innovative research and care centers, such as the Rehabilitation Trauma Center, the only federally-designated spinal cord injury center in Northern California.

The Rehabilitation Trauma Center (RTC) at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) was founded in 1972 and is part of the only federally designated spinal cord injury center in Northern California. The center is one of the oldest spinal cord injury neurointensive care units in the United States and participated in the original National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research Database collecting retrospective data to 1973. The center is currently a ten-bed unit based in the Sobrato Pavilion's Respiratory Rehabilitation Unit (opened in 2017) under the direction of Dr. Stephen L. McKenna. The center is known for ventilator weaning after catastrophic neurological injury.The center is notable for clinical research in cellular therapies for neurological disease. In the first US clinical trial of hESC based therapies for spinal cord injury, 40% of the patients in the trial were enrolled through the Rehabilitation Trauma Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. In the subsequent dose escalation trial, the Center treated the first patient in the nation with complete (AIS-A) cervical spinal cord injury at the highest dose of 20 million cells of AST-OPC1 (oligodendrocyte progenitor cells); as well as, the first incomplete spinal cord injury (AIS-B). The results of the 10 million cells cohort showed a doubling of the expected rate of recovery from traumatic spinal cord injury. The center is a clinical program site in the Stanford Partnership for Spinal Cord Injury and Repair.The center is a core facility for Stanford residents and fellows in training. Stanford Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents learn the acute care of patients with catastrophic neurological injuries through consultation in the Rehabilitation Trauma Center. The Stanford/VA Advanced Fellowship Program in Advanced Spinal Cord Injury Medicine features the center as a core training site for the management of acute neurological injury.

Burbank is a census-designated place in Santa Clara County, California. Part of the neighborhood has been annexed to San Jose, while the rest consists of unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County. The population was 4,926 at the 2010 census. The neighborhood was named after Luther Burbank. The historic Burbank Theatre is an area icon and currently the home of a radio station, and also is representative of the architectural significance of the Victorian, Bungalow, Deco and Craftsman style homes. With over 35 recorded significantly historical homes, many residents are restoring these small but quaint homes, making the area much more desirable — and one of the few affordable areas left in Santa Clara County to live. The Burbank Community Association along with many area businesses, residents, and home owners are working as a collective team to ensure the Burbank neighborhood continues to flourish. The area is also a center for antique stores and is centrally located to Santana Row, Westfield Valley Fair, and also the downtown area. The area is in ZIP code 95128 and area codes 408 and 669. KQED, the local NPR affiliate, ran a story about Burbank's status as an "Urban Island", and the local communities desire to not be annexed by the city of San Jose. [1]

San José City College (SJCC) is a public community college in San Jose, California. Founded in 1921, SJCC is located in the West San Jose neighborhood of Fruitdale.

Boynton High School is a secondary school located in San Jose, California and is a continuation school for the Campbell Union High School District. Between 1990 and 2002 when Boynton High School continuation students attended what was then Blackford High School. Blackford had been a traditional high school before 1991 when it was closed. After a minor disagreement amongst board members of the Campbell Union High School District, they agreed to rename the continuation high school to Boynton High School, and established a new building on the same lot as Blackford. The resources of the Blackford High School campus were being shared, and needed to be renovated in order to lease the campus to another school (the former Blackford High School campus is now occupied by neighboring Harker Middle School.).

The Harker School is a private, non-profit school located in San Jose, California. Founded in 1893 as Manzanita Hall, Harker now has three campuses: Union, Bucknall, and Saratoga, named after the streets on which they lie.

The San Jose Municipal Rose Garden is a historic rose garden in San Jose, California, in the Rose Garden District. Founded in 1927, the garden is exclusively dedicated to roses and features more than 3,500 shrubs representing 189 rose varieties. The AARS named the SJ Municipal Rose Garden as "America's Best Rose Garden", making it the winner in the first nationwide competition ever.

Del Mar High School (DMHS) is a four-year, public secondary school established in 1959 in San Jose, California. It is part of the Campbell Union High School District, (CUHSD), the other schools in which are Branham, Leigh, Prospect, and Westmont. Most of Del Mar’s students come from the Campbell Union School District’s Monroe Middle School. The school serves both San Jose and Campbell, in addition to some unincorporated pockets of Santa Clara County. In 2016, Del Mar became an International Baccalaureate school. The first class who started the diploma, was the class of 2018. The school mascot of Del Mar is "The Don," and the colors are black, gold, and, officially, white. As of 2012 the school principal is Larry Lopez. In recent years, the school's academic scores have risen significantly, most notably by reaching an API (Academic Performance Index) score of 720 in 2011, a jump of 122 points since 2004. In 2007, it was officially deemed a “California Distinguished School.”
