200 Aldersgate is a 434,005 sq ft office building in the City of London.Proposed in 1983, designed by the architects Fitzroy Robinson & Partners, and built in 1991-92, the building was the headquarters of legal firm Clifford Chance before it moved to Canary Wharf. It was extensively redeveloped by Helical Bar in 2010, in conjunction with architects Morey Smith. The refurbishment included two large new reception and lobby areas, a cycle store for 220 bicycles with shower and changing facilities and, on the first floor, a new business lounge and café linking the two parts of the building.In 2013, 200 Aldersgate was purchased by AshbyCapital, a real estate investment advisory firm, which sold the property to Samsung SRA in 2018.200 Aldersgate is recognisable by the neon artworks in its front windows. Measuring 2.5m in diameter, 'Revolution - in two parts' by Rob and Nick Carter, was commissioned by 200 Aldersgate in 2010.200 Aldersgate is also known as one of three landmarks forming Stand Up To Cancer's London 3 Peaks Challenge. In 2014, 400 participants in the first ever challenge scaled The Gherkin and Heron Tower, before abseiling 56 metres down the outside of 200 Aldersgate.

The Museum of London documents the history of the UK's capital city from prehistoric to modern times. It is located in the City of London on the London Wall, close to the Barbican Centre and is part of the Barbican complex of buildings created in the 1960s and 1970s to redevelop a bomb-damaged area of the city. The museum is the largest urban history collection in the world, with more than six million objects.The museum is a few minutes' walk north of St Paul's Cathedral, overlooking the remains of the Roman city wall and on the edge of the oldest part of London, now its main financial district. It is primarily concerned with the social history of London and its inhabitants throughout time. The museum is jointly controlled and funded by the City of London Corporation and the Greater London Authority. In March 2015, the museum announced plans to move from its Barbican site to nearby Smithfield Market. The move is contingent upon raising an estimated £70 million.

The Centre for Music was a proposed concert hall in the City of London. The City announced on 18 February 2021 that the project would not be progressed.The plans included a 2000-seat, "world-class" auditorium, as well as other performance spaces, rehearsal rooms, education facilities, and four storeys of commercial space. The proposed site was occupied by the Museum of London, which was due to move to Smithfield Market as part of a separate redevelopment plan. The building would have been the new home of the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), and would also have been used by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. It would have been run by the Barbican Centre.The estimated cost of £288m to build the centre would have needed to be raised entirely from private donations. The construction time was estimated at four years.

Barbican is a London Underground station situated near the Barbican Estate, on the edge of the ward of Farringdon Within, in the City of London in Central London. It has been known by various names since its opening in 1865, mostly in reference to the neighbouring ward of Aldersgate. The station is served by the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines, and is situated between Farringdon and Moorgate stations, in Travelcard Zone 1. Until 2009, Barbican was additionally served by Thameslink services to and from Moorgate.

The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists, also known as the Information Technologists' Company, is one of the livery companies of the City of London. The company was granted livery status by the Court of Aldermen on 7 January 1992, becoming the 100th livery company. It received its Royal Charter on 17 June 2010 from Prince Edward.

Citizens Advice (previously Citizens Advice Bureau and also known as Cyngor ar Bopeth in Welsh) is an independent organisation specialising in confidential information and advice to assist people with legal, debt, consumer, housing and other problems in the United Kingdom.The twin aims of the Citizens Advice service are "to provide the advice people need for the problems they face" and secondly "to improve the policies and principles that affect people's lives". This research and campaigns agenda also known as "social policy" is more preventative in nature and designed to stop problems arising in the first place. Citizens Advice organisations emerged in the 1930s linked to the emergence of a fledgling social welfare service and the outbreak of World War II. Public funding for the organisation was cut following the war but restored during the 1960s and a government grant in 1973 allowed the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux (NACAB) to expand the charity. Citizens Advice has grown to be the largest independent advice provider in the United Kingdom. There are also a number of Citizens Advice organisations that base themselves on the United Kingdom advice charity mainly in parts of the Commonwealth including Australia, New Zealand, and Gibraltar.In 2013 the Citizens Advice Adviceguide website was visited by one third of United Kingdom's online population and Citizens Advice's own research shows that four in ten of the British population contact Citizens Advice at some point during their lives. In 2014 Citizens Advice celebrated its 75th anniversary and in 2015 the charity was named Charity of the Year at the 2015 Charity Awards. During the ten year leadership of the former Chief Executive Gillian Guy Citizens Advice expanded its remit taking on the contract for the Witness Service and the face-to-face advice element of Pension Wise.

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is the world’s leading professional body for Accounting Technicians, with over 150,000 members worldwide. AAT has 150,000 members according to official records from the Financial Reporting Council (FRC). This includes 2,500 licensed bookkeepers. It also includes over 5,000 AAT Licensed Accountants who provide accountancy, tax and business advisory services to more than 500,000 individuals, sole traders and small and medium sized British businesses. 80% of the FTSE 100 employ an AAT apprentice within their finance function. AAT was created in 1980 by the Institute of Accounting Staff (then a subsidiary of ACCA) and the Association of Technicians in Finance and Accounting (then a subsidiary of CIPFA). It is a technician level qualification offering higher apprenticeships which entitles those who have completed the exams and obtained relevant supervised work experience to become an accounting technician. The AAT is based at 140 Aldersgate Street, London but has 43 branches across the UK with representation in the rest of the world including Hong Kong, Botswana and South Africa.

Bastion House is an office block in the Barbican area of the City of London, England. The building was designed by Powell & Moya and completed in 1976. It has 17 storeys.Its basement contains the remains of a tower which formed part of the west gate of a Roman fort protecting Londinium. It contained a sentry post and access to the walkway of London Wall. This is often open to the public.In 2022, plans by the City of London Corporation to demolish the building along with the Museum of London and construct a new office building on the site were opposed by locals, with 88% voting for alternative plans.

The Hand and Shears is a Grade II listed public house at 1 Middle Street, Smithfield, London.It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.It was built in the early-mid 19th century.It was named after the former Bartholomew Fair, held at Smithfield for centuries, at which the Lord Mayor of London would come and cut a piece of cloth with a pair of shears to announce that the fair had begun.

Aldersgate is a Ward of the City of London, named after one of the northern gates in the London Wall which once enclosed the City. The Ward of Aldersgate is traditionally divided into Aldersgate Within and Aldersgate Without, the suffix denoting whether the part was within the line of the wall or outside it. The ancient ward boundaries were redrawn in 2013; the names are preserved but their location only loosely approximates to their historic extent. The gate also gave its name to Aldersgate Street, which runs north from the former gate towards Clerkenwell. The street was wholly part of Aldersgate Without ward until a short section further north was renamed and so added to it.
