St. Joseph Medical Center (Tacoma, Washington)

St. Joseph is a future light rail station on the T Line of the Link light rail system in Tacoma, Washington, United States. The station is expected to open in 2023 as the terminus of the line. It is located on Martin Luther King Jr. Way at South 18th Street, adjacent to St. Joseph Medical Center.

The Nihon Go Gakko (日本語学校, Nihongo gakkō, literally, Japanese Language School) alternately, Nihon Gogakko, in what was then Tacoma, Washington's Japantown, was one of 24 Japanese language schools that existed in Washington prior to World War II.

The Hilltop Neighborhood is a historically diverse neighborhood in the Tacoma, Washington Central District. The National Register of Historic Places specifies the geographic area of Hilltop as located within the City of Tacoma and bounded on the east by Tacoma Avenue South, on the north by Division Avenue, on the west by Sprague Avenue, and on the south by the edge of the bluff, which roughly equates to South 27th Street. Hilltop derives its name from its location on a high bluff overlooking Commencement Bay and the Port of Tacoma. Hilltop is near the historic Tacoma Public Library main branch, Bates Technical College, the Pierce County Courthouse, and the new Pierce County Correctional Facility, all of which are located on Hilltop's east side. It is adjoined by Tacoma's more affluent Stadium District. Sound Transit plans to build a streetcar line on Martin Luther King Jr. Way, between Division Avenue and South 19th Street, by 2022, connecting to the existing Tacoma Link in Downtown Tacoma.

Bates Technical College is a public technical college located in Tacoma, Washington, US. The college offers two-year Associate of Applied Science degrees, academic certificates, and industry certifications. Bates is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, and maintains articulation agreements with several four-year colleges and universities. Some two-year degrees offered by this college are transferable. Bates operates three campuses in Tacoma, occupying a total of approximately 650,000 square feet (60,000 m2) of classrooms, shops, meeting rooms, and offices.

The Tacoma Public Library system serves residents of Tacoma, Washington. It operates eight library branches, which include a central library in downtown Tacoma, two regional locations in north and south Tacoma, and five neighborhood branch locations. Tacoma Public Library has nearly 150,000 registered users, and over 2 million items in circulation. Tacoma Public Library serves a population of 198,100 people. The Main, or central, library is one of 43 Carnegie libraries built in the state of Washington. Carnegie libraries are those built with money donated by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. This particular library was built in 1903. The Main library has been expanded since the original building was erected, and the Carnegie portion of the building now houses the Northwest Room and the Handforth Gallery. The Northwest Room holds a special collection of information on Tacoma and the Pacific Northwest. It includes photography, genealogy, rare books, and newspapers. The Handforth Gallery displays the work of local artists year round. Tacoma Public Library offers the use of computers, databases, books, DVDs, music, ebooks, downloadable audio books, as well as programming for children, teens and adults. The Greater Tacoma Convention Center, is a convention center in downtown Tacoma, in the U.S. state of Washington. It opened in November 2004 and has been described as the "second largest meeting and event facility in Western Washington". It was designed by MulvannyG2 Architecture, of Bellevue, Washington.Located at 1500 Commerce, the center has over 118,000 square feet (11,000 m2) of meeting and usable prefunction space which includes a 50,000 sq ft (4,600 m2), column-free exhibition hall, a 13,650 sq ft (1,268 m2) ballroom, and eleven breakout rooms in varying sizes. There are 400 parking spaces on-site. The convention center is also served by Tacoma Link at the Convention Center/S. 15th Street station. Buses operated by Pierce Transit also serve the convention center, with stops on nearby Pacific Avenue, as well as on Market Street and on 13th Street. In September 2010, the Greater Tacoma Convention Center added Commerce Room, a meeting space adding over 1,800 square feet (170 m2) to the center. The Commerce Room can be used by convention groups as an additional breakout room or on its own for smaller events with a capacity for 180 people.

The University of Washington Tacoma (UW Tacoma) is a campus of University of Washington in Tacoma, Washington. The UW Tacoma campus opened in leased space in 1990 and opened its permanent campus in 1997.

Convention Center/South 15th Street station is a light rail station on Link light rail's T Line in Tacoma, Washington, United States. The station officially opened for service on August 22, 2003, and is located almost adjacent to the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center. The heart of the downtown business core is also accessible from the station, with several major employers headquartered nearby. Artwork at the station includes colored panels in the roof and towers of rocks, evoking a Buddhist temple that used to exist in the area.

Fire Station No. 5 is a fire station located in Tacoma, Washington listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is currently still in active service, but was renamed Fire Station 4 when Tacoma's former Station 4 at 222 E 26th Street was closed.Tacoma has since had two other Stations 5. Tacoma's second fireboat station, which opened in 1983 at 3301 Ruston Way but has since ceased fire operations, and Tacoma's former Station 15 at 3510 E 11th St., which was closed in 2012 when a new Station 15 opened in Tacoma's lower east side. The former Station 15 has since been considered for reopening and has been renamed Station 5.

Shipment to China is an abstract sculpture by Hai Ying Wu, installed in Tacoma, Washington's Prairie Line Trail, in the United States. It has 100 bronze boxes on a 1909 train car. According to Wu, the work "shows the bitterness of the Chinese experience in America during that time, for the railroad built by their efforts was the same transportation used to carry them out of Tacoma".According to the Prairie Line Trail's website, the sculpture was donated by the Chinese Reconciliation Project Foundation, restored and installed by the City of Tacoma, and funded by the Washington State Heritage Capital Projects Fund.
