Butte–Glenn Community College District is a public school district based in Butte County, California. On May 1, 2014, Butte–Glenn Community College District was named one of fifty five higher education institutions under investigation by the Office of Civil Rights "for possible violations of federal law over the handling of sexual violence and harassment complaints" by President Barack Obama's White House Task Force To Protect Students from Sexual Assault.

Nelson Bar is a former settlement in Butte County, California. It was located 5.25 miles (8.45 km) southeast of Paradise on the West Branch of the Feather River, at an elevation of 974 feet (297 m). It is now under Lake Oroville. The Nelson Bar bridge spanned the West Branch of the Feather River until Oroville Dam was built. It was submerged under Lake Oroville.

The North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve is a nature reserve of 3,315 acres (13.42 km2) located three miles (5 km) north of Oroville, in Butte County, northern California. The land was acquired by the state in October, 1993.

Cherokee is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Butte County, California. It is an area inhabited by Maidu Indians prior to the gold rush, but that takes its name from a band of Cherokee prospectors who perfected a mining claim on the site. The population was 69 at the 2010 census. It lies at an elevation of 1306 feet (398 m). Possibly the site of the historic gold mine, on the 1994 Cherokee, California 7.5-minute quadrangle, a feature named "Cherokee Placer Mine" exists about 0.65 miles southwest of the above coordinates. USGS identifies Cherokee Flat and Drytown as historic variant names for the community. The town is located on Cherokee Road off State Route 70. Today, Cherokee now consists of a museum and a Cherokee cemetery, as well as a few houses. The Cherokee Heritage and Museum Association maintains both. The ZIP Code is 95965. Honey Run Covered Bridge was a wooden covered bridge crossing Butte Creek, in Butte County, northern California in the United States. It was located on Honey Run Road at Centerville Road, about halfway in between Chico and Paradise, until it was destroyed in the Camp Fire on November 8, 2018.

Paradise is a town in Butte County, California, United States, in the Sierra Nevada foothills above the northeastern Sacramento Valley. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 4,764, down from the 26,218 recorded in the 2010 census. On November 8, 2018, a major wildfire, the Camp Fire, destroyed most of Paradise and much of the adjacent communities of Magalia, Butte Creek Canyon, and Concow. After the Camp Fire, the population declined by more than 90%. In January 2019, the state of California reported 4,600 residents, and a door-to-door count in April 2019 found 2,034.

Paradise High School (PHS) is a public high school in Paradise, California, United States. It is part of the Paradise Unified School District. The school's curriculum is organized into 13 subject area departments, and students can take up to six classes a day. Senior students can enroll concurrently at Butte Community College. Sports offered by the school are football, basketball, volleyball, cross country, swimming, tennis, soccer, track, golf, wrestling, baseball, softball, and cheerleading.

Diamondville (also, Rich Bar and Goatville) is a former settlement in Butte County, California, United States. It was located 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Paradise. The town was named for James Diamond. In the 1870s, Diamondville was on the stage coach route to Chico, 11 miles (18 km) distant; fares averaged 10 cents per mile. Cretaceous fossils were reported to be found from Butte Creek below Diamondville. In an 1884 report published by the United States government on the production of precious metals in the United States, Diamondville was described as "an old mining town . . . occupied by one or two ranchers and only mined by Chinese."
