Raffles Institution (RI) is an independent educational institution in Bishan, Singapore. Founded in 1823 and named after Stamford Raffles, it is the oldest school in the country. It provides secondary education for boys only from Years 1 to 4, and pre-university education for both boys and girls in Years 5 and 6. Since 2007, RI and its affiliated school Raffles Girls' School have offered a six-year Raffles Programme, which allows students to skip the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level examinations and proceed to take the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level examinations at the end of Year 6. RI is notable for having produced 96 President's Scholars, three Presidents, two Prime Ministers, four Speakers of Parliament, several Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament, as well as many Chief Executive Officers of government-linked statutory boards and agencies. Its alumni body, the Old Rafflesians Association (ORA), includes former prime ministers Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Chok Tong, as well as former presidents Yusof Ishak, Benjamin Henry Sheares and Wee Kim Wee.RI has had the highest number of admissions to the University of Cambridge, with 35 students receiving offers in the 2019 admissions cycle, while 52 were accepted for Oxford and Cambridge combined in 2021.

Raffles Girls' School (RGS) is an independent girls' secondary school in Braddell, Singapore. Established in 1879, the school is one of the oldest in Singapore. RGS and its affiliated school Raffles Institution offer a six-year Raffles Programme, which allows students to skip the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level examinations and proceed to take the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level examinations at the end of Year 6. The school was recognised by the Ministry of Education in 2006 by being awarded the School Excellence Award (recognising schools with 'exemplary school processes and practices'), among other awards.It was a member of Alliance of Girls' Schools Australasia.

Marymount MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Circle line in Bishan, Singapore. Located underneath Marymount Road near the junction of Marymount Lane and Bishan Street 21, this station provides MRT access to residents living in the western part of Bishan New Town and Shunfu, as well as students and staff of the nearby Raffles Institution. The station is named after the road of the same name on the surface, Marymount Road, which in turn took its name from the Marymount Convent of the Little Sisters of the Poor. It serves nearby businesses, housing developments and Raffles Institution and Shunfu HDB.

Mount Alvernia Hospital is a 319-bed general acute care hospital with tertiary medical capabilities and two multi-disciplinary medical specialist centres in Thomson Road, Singapore. It is the only not-for-profit, private Catholic missionary hospital. Braddell MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station located on the North South Line (NSL) in Toa Payoh, Singapore. Unlike the other stations on the NSL (apart from Canberra station), the station has side platforms due to engineering constraints. Located underneath the traffic junction of Lorong 1 Toa Payoh and Lorong 2 Toa Payoh, Braddell station primarily serves the estates in the northern part of Toa Payoh New Town. Opened on 7 November 1987, Braddell station is one of the first five MRT stations on the network.

The Bishan Public Library is a library in the National Library Board network situated at Bishan, Singapore just behind Junction 8 Shopping Centre. It opened on 1 September 2006 by Mr Wong Kan Seng, then Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, and Member of Parliament representing the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC.

Junction 8 (Chinese: 碧山第八站; pinyin: dì bā zhàn, stylised as JUNCTI8N) is a popular heartland shopping mall located in the centre of Bishan. It is located outside Bishan MRT station and Bishan Bus Interchange. The name of this shopping centre was derived from the old station numbering of the North South line sector of nearby Bishan (N8).

Bishan MRT station is a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the North South (NSL) and Circle (CCL) lines in Bishan, Singapore. Located along Bishan Road within the town centre area, it is integrated with the Junction 8 shopping centre and close to the Bishan Bus Interchange. Nearby schools include Raffles Institution, Catholic High School and the Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Primary and Secondary Schools. Initially announced as Kampung San Teng, it was renamed San Teng and subsequently Bishan. Opened on 7 November 1987, Bishan NSL station was one of the first five stations on the MRT network. During the construction of the CCL station, the original island platform of the NSL was split into two separate side platforms and the station was upgraded to cope with increased passenger traffic from the CCL, which opened on 28 May 2009. In 2017, a major flood in the tunnels between this station and Braddell station disrupted train services on the NSL. The Bishan NSL station is the only ground-level station on the network, while the CCL station features an Art-in-Transit artwork Move! by Soh Ee Shaun. Due to the stations' location near a former cemetery, it has been alleged that the station is haunted.

Guangyang Secondary School is a co-educational government secondary school in Bishan, Singapore. It merged with Braddell-Westlake Secondary School in 2006.

The Bishan Bus Interchange is a bus interchange serving Bishan, Singapore. The interchange commenced passenger service as Bishan Bus Terminal in 1988, with Services 56 and 58. Located at Bishan Street 13, it is designed in a unique squarish configuration with the building wrapping around the bus parking area. The Ministry of Education Language Centre (MOELC) lies across the field to the north. Passengers also able to transfer to the Circle Line from an entrance located right outside the interchange.
