The Columbus Monument (Catalan: Monument a Colom, IPA: [munuˈment ə kuˈlom]; Spanish: Monumento a Colón or Mirador de Colón) is a 60 m (197 ft) tall monument to Christopher Columbus at the lower end of La Rambla, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was constructed for the Exposición Universal de Barcelona (1888) in honor of Columbus' first voyage to the Americas. The monument serves as a reminder that Christopher Columbus reported to Queen Isabella I and King Ferdinand V in Barcelona after his first trip to the new continent.

Plaça del Duc de Medinaceli is a square in central Barcelona. It is part of Barri Gòtic, in the Ciutat Vella district, located between Passeig de Colom and Carrer de la Mercè, on a terrain formerly part of a 13th-century Franciscan convent until 1836. The square was projected after the disappearance of the old city walls and the convent in the 19th century. It is named after the 16th century nobleman Luis de la Cerda y de la Vega, count of Medinaceli, Cogolludo and Arcos de Jalón, a descendant of the Montcada family, who gave away the terrain to the Franciscans.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Mercy (Catalan: Basílica de la Mercè, Spanish: Basílica de la Merced) is a Baroque-style basilica in Barcelona, Catalonia. It was built between 1765 and 1775, being the work of Catalan architect Josep Mas i Dordal. The dome of the church is crowned with a statue of Our Lady that is visible from the seaside promenade near the drassanes. This church was the second in Barcelona to receive the title of minor basilica, preceded only by the Barcelona Cathedral. The title was granted in 1918 by Pope Benedict XV, commemorating the seven hundredth anniversary of the apparition of the Virgin to St. Peter Nolasco, founder of the Order of Mercy.

Centre d'Art Santa Mònica (CASM), more commonly abbreviated as Arts Santa Mònica, is a public venue in Barcelona, (Catalonia) opened in 1988, for exhibiting contemporary art. It is located in the Raval side of Rambla de Santa Mònica (Ciutat Vella district). It hosts a number of exhibitions of contemporary Spanish and international artists every year. Entrance is free. The building that hosts CASM is a 1626 Renaissance convent that became a monument of national interest in 1984.

Pompeu Fabra University (Catalan: Universitat Pompeu Fabra, UPF, pronounced [uniβəɾsiˈtat pumˈpɛw ˈfaβɾə]; Spanish: Universidad Pompeu Fabra) is a public university located in the city of Barcelona, Catalonia in Spain. The university was created by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia in 1990, and was named after Pompeu Fabra, a Catalan engineer, grammarian and the main author of the normative reform of contemporary Catalan language. In 2021, UPF was ranked the best university in Spain and 10th best young university in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.Pompeu Fabra University is considered one of the most prestigious universities in Spain. The Barcelona Royal Shipyard (Catalan: Drassanes Reials de Barcelona, Spanish: Atarazanas Reales de Barcelona) is a shipyard and former military building of Gothic architecture placed at the Port Vell area of the Port of Barcelona. Nowadays it houses the Barcelona Maritime Museum. Construction started during the 13th century under the rule of Peter III of Aragon. During excavations in 2012 it was discovered that in the late 16th century a new building was constructed on top of the old medieval dockyard, giving the building its current structure. This excavations also uncovered a Roman graveyard. The shipyard's restoration was finished in early 2013. The museum was reopened in 2014.

The Filmoteca de Catalunya is a film archive located in Catalunya, Spain, aiming at the preservation of film and the dissemination of audiovisual and film culture. The head office and public rooms (cinemas, exhibition rooms, library) are located in the Raval neighbourhood, in central Barcelona. The Centre de Conservació i Restauració (the institution's Center for Conservation and Restoration) is located in the Parc Audiovisual in Terrassa.

The Maritime Museum of Barcelona (Catalan: Museu Marítim de Barcelona, MMB) is located in the building of Drassanes Reials de Barcelona, the royal arsenal of Barcelona, dedicated to shipbuilding between the thirteenth century and eighteenth century. The first mention of these arsenals date from 1243 in a document indicating the boundaries of the city of Barcelona where it mentions its shipyard.It shows the history of the navigation from the early days together with the history of the Spanish Navy since the Catholic Monarchs, in the 15th century, up to the present. It also hosts several navigation instruments, weapons, portolans and paintings. The museum was declared Museum of National Interest by the Government of Catalonia.

Drassanes is a Barcelona Metro station located underneath Portal de la Santa Madrona, just off La Rambla in the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona. It is named after the nearby Drassanes Reials de Barcelona, the old shipyards that are now the home of the Museu Marítim de Barcelona. It is the closest station to the Port of Barcelona and one of the network's closest stations to the sea, and is served by TMB-operated Barcelona Metro line L3.The station was opened on 14 December 1968 as a prolongation on the line from Liceu once Fernando metro station was closed. Originally known as Atarazanas, it changed its name to Drassanes in 1982. Due to its proximity to the sea and low level, the station has suffered from flooding in the past. It was completely rebuilt in 2007 to make it more accessible by modernizing the platforms and installing elevators.Because of its proximity to sea level, the station is located close to the surface and has only a single level, containing two tracks served by two 90 metres (300 ft) long side platforms. The platforms are linked by a passage under the tracks, but each has its own separate access to the street. The Zona Universitària bound platform has access to Drassanes Avenue and Portal de la Santa Madrona, while the Trinitat Nova bound platform has access to the central promenade of La Rambla

Edifici Colón (also Torre Maritima) is an office skyscraper in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It has 28 floors and stands at a height of 110 metres (120 yd). It is located in the district of Ciutat Vella, Avinguda de les Drassanes. Built in 1970, it was the first skyscraper above 100 metres built in Barcelona.

The Royal Barcelona Maritime Club (Catalan: Reial Club Marítim de Barcelona (RCMB), Spanish: Real Club Marítimo de Barcelona) is a member-only yacht club based in Barcelona. It was established in 1881 and is one of the oldest yacht clubs in Spain. This club is located at one end of Barcelona harbor, close to where la Rambla meets the sea, by the "Maremagnum" shopping mall and aquarium complex. The RCMB is a well-equipped yacht club, with its own delimited area situated very close to its rival Royal Barcelona Yacht Club (Reial Club Nàutic de Barcelona), which is considered more elitist. The RCMB's area is an "administrative concession" from the Barcelona Port Authority. It houses the club's premises, where there is a cafeteria cum restaurant specialized in fish dishes.The club has 251 moorings for yachts of average size. On its NE side there is a dry dock area and repair facilities for both sail and motor boats. The club also offers sailing courses and watersports courses. The Royal Barcelona Maritime Club regularly organizes regattas. It has participated in many sailing competitions and has won more than 1.000 medals in domestic competitions, as well as over 200 medals in international competitions. It won also the first olympic medal for Spain in the 1932 Olympics.
