Helltown, California

Centerville is an unincorporated community in Butte County, California along Butte Creek. It was midway between Helltown and Diamondville. The area is about one and three quarters miles, straight-line distance, west of Paradise.

KZFR (90.1 FM) is a non-profit, community radio station located in Chico, California. The idea started out as a translator for KPFA in Berkeley in 1981, but when it began transmitting in July 1990 it was locally originated content. KZFR broadcasts local Internet station Radio Paradise from midnight to 6 AM. KZFR features diverse programming. Music programs include shows devoted to reggae, rock and roll, folk, Celtic, blues, jazz, country, zydeco and spiritual music. Informational programs include Democracy Now, The Real Issue, and the Peace and Social Justice Show. KZFR also occasionally broadcasts concerts live, usually from the Big Room at the Sierra Nevada Brewery. KZFR also has several Americana themed shows. KBQB (92.7 FM, "Bob FM") is a commercial radio station located in Chico, California. KBQB airs an adult hits music format. The station signed on the air in 1993 as KLRS and branded as "Colors 92.7 FM". It played the Top 40 (CHR) music format and was one of the most popular stations in the market. The format changed to the current "92.7 Bob FM" format in 2006.

Nimshew is a former mining town in Butte County, California, formed to house workers at the nearby Nimshew gold mine. It lies at an elevation of 2507 feet (764 m). It had a post office from 1880 to 1923. It is now a neighborhood of Magalia.

Diamondville (also, Rich Bar and Goatville) is a former settlement in Butte County, California, United States. It was located 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Paradise. The town was named for James Diamond. In the 1870s, Diamondville was on the stage coach route to Chico, 11 miles (18 km) distant; fares averaged 10 cents per mile. Cretaceous fossils were reported to be found from Butte Creek below Diamondville. In an 1884 report published by the United States government on the production of precious metals in the United States, Diamondville was described as "an old mining town . . . occupied by one or two ranchers and only mined by Chinese."

Paradise is a town in Butte County, California, United States, in the Sierra Nevada foothills above the northeastern Sacramento Valley. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 4,764, down from the 26,218 recorded in the 2010 census. On November 8, 2018, a major wildfire, the Camp Fire, destroyed most of Paradise and much of the adjacent communities of Magalia, Butte Creek Canyon, and Concow. After the Camp Fire, the population declined by more than 90%. In January 2019, the state of California reported 4,600 residents, and a door-to-door count in April 2019 found 2,034.

Paradise High School (PHS) is a public high school in Paradise, California, United States. It is part of the Paradise Unified School District. The school's curriculum is organized into 13 subject area departments, and students can take up to six classes a day. Senior students can enroll concurrently at Butte Community College. Sports offered by the school are football, basketball, volleyball, cross country, swimming, tennis, soccer, track, golf, wrestling, baseball, softball, and cheerleading.

The area code is 530. Forest Ranch's population was 1,184 at the 2010 census. The US Geological Survey reports the town's elevation as 2,415 feet (736 m) above mean sea level. The eastern end of the community is about 3,500 feet (1,067 m): about 1,000 feet (305 m) higher. This is high enough that residents occasionally get "snowed in." Residents east of the center of the community report the snowfall is heavy enough to prevent driving about one to three days each year. This is only true of homes not located along State Route 32. Some residents commute to work in Chico, about fifteen driving miles west on SR32.

DeSabla (also known as De Sabla, deSabla and de Sabla; formerly, Hupps Mill and Hupp) is an unincorporated community in Butte County, California. It lies at an elevation of 2762 feet (842 m). It was named after one of the Pacific Gas and Electric founders and is the site of Lake de Sabla reservoir and a powerhouse named for him. NAD27 latitude and longitude for the community are 39°52′26″N 121°36′06″W and official elevation is 2,780 feet (850 m) above mean sea level.

Magalia (formerly Butte Mills and Dogtown) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Butte County, California, United States. The population was 11,310 at the 2010 census.

Dogtown Nugget was the first large gold nugget found in California. It was found in Willard Gulch on April 12, 1859, and weighed in at 54 troy pounds (20 kg). Willard Gulch is in the southern part of Magalia, California in Butte County part of the Feather River canyon. The town of Magalia was called Mountain View, Butte Mills and Dogtown in 1859, the towns joined to become Magalia later. The site of the find was called Dogtown as Susan Basset, a miner's daughter, had many dogs that were in the area near the find. Hydraulic Mine worker Chauncey Wright found the pure gold nugget in the mud. Chauncey Wright worked for three partners that owned the mine: Phineas Willard, Ira Weatherbee and Wyatt M. Smith. Once found the nugget was taken to the town for display by a donkey. The nugget was taken to San Francisco, and melted down to make a 49-pound gold bar. The gold bar then was sold to the San Francisco Mint for $10,600. The discovery site is California Historical Landmark #771. A plaque monument was placed near the site by Native Daughters of the Golden West, Grand Parlor, Centennial Parlor 295, on June 12, 1955. In 2023 United States dollars the Dogtown Nugget is valued at $1.2 Million. In 1869 a larger 106-pound nugget was found at the Sierra Buttes Mine in Sierra City.

Magalia Community Church is a historic church located on Stirling Highway in Magalia, California. Construction of the church began in 1850 but was left incomplete. This first phase of construction resulted in only the floor and 4 walls. Completion of the church was not accomplished until 1904. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
