All Saints Church, Sutton Bassett

Sutton Bassett is a village and civil parish in Northamptonshire, England, in the Welland valley. It was formerly in the Corby Hundred but has been part of the Stoke Hundred (named after Stoke Albany village). The village's name means 'Southern farm/settlement'. The village was held by Richard Basset in the 12th century.Sutton Bassett's church, The Church of All Saints (which partly dates back to the Norman period) was built as an annexe to St. Mary's Church in the nearby village of Weston by Welland. Unlike the majority of typical English countryside village churches, it has no graveyard. The local pub was the Queen's Head Inn, which closed in January 2015. Sutton Bassett is currently administered by North Northamptonshire council but was administered as part of the Borough of Kettering until changes in 2021, and is roughly 14 miles north-west of Kettering, 12 miles west of Corby, 7 miles north-east of Desborough and roughly 4 miles from Market Harborough.

Weston by Welland is a village and civil parish in the north of the English county of Northamptonshire administered as part of North Northamptonshire. As its name suggests, it is near to the River Welland that, thereabouts, forms the boundary with the county of Leicestershire. The Wheel & Compass pub stands on the village's outskirts. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 141 people, including Sutton Bassett and increasing to 246 at the 2011 Census.The village's name means 'Western farm/settlement by the River Welland'.

Running past the north of the village is the A427 road which connects Market Harborough to Oundle. At the 2011 census the population of the village was included in the civil parish of Stoke Albany. The villages name means 'Broom farm/settlement' with abundant 'Ash-trees'.Within Brampton Ash are the remains of a stone quarry. The church of St. Mary the Virgin is the main feature of the village. It is floodlit at night and can be seen for miles around the Welland valley. Brampton Ash is in North Northamptonshire but before local government changes in 2021 was in the Borough of Kettering.

Ashley and Weston railway station was a station in Northamptonshire, serving the settlements of Ashley and Weston. It was located just east of Welham Junction.

Ashley is a village and civil parish in the North Northamptonshire, England, about 4 miles (6.4 km) northeast of Market Harborough, Leicestershire and 5 miles (8.0 km) west of Corby. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 224. The village is near the River Welland, which forms the border with Leicestershire. The Roman road called Via Devana in the part from Ratae (now Leicester) to Duroliponte (now Cambridge) ran just north of the village. The village's name means 'ash-tree wood/clearing'.

St. Mary the Virgin is the local Church of England parish church for Brampton Ash, Northamptonshire. Sitting in the Diocese of Peterborough, the ironstone church boasts fine carvings of lions. It is well lit at night, and can be seen across the Welland Valley for miles around. The church is largely 13th and 14th century with some restoration in the 19th century.

Gartree was a hundred of Leicestershire. It was in the south-east of the county, roughly corresponding to today's Harborough district. The town of Market Harborough was its largest settlement. It gives its name to HMP Gartree, and also to the Gartree electoral division of Leicestershire. The original meeting place of the hundred, which was used for local administration, justice and taxation, was the Gartree Bush, or Gartree (possibly from the Scandinavian word geir or spear), lying north east of Kibworth and south west of Gaulby on the Roman Via Devana, now known as the Gartree Road. This was the open-air meeting place from the tenth century to the eighteenth century where jurors, drawn from the local villages, handed out justice and administered taxes each month. It may have been the site of a prehistoric burial mound, and the site of a previous Anglo Saxon moot place. In 1750, this was moved to the Bull's Head at Tur Langton.

Thorpe Langton (derived from the Anglo-Saxon word for an enclosure, meaning "long town") is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, about four miles north of Market Harborough. The parish had a population of 171 according to the 2001 census. Ten years later, in the 2011 census, the population had grown to 200. Thorpe Langton is the home of the Baker's Arms pub and St. Leonard's church, but is otherwise solely residential.
