The James E. "Buck" Karnes Bridge, also known as the Alcoa Highway Bridge, sometimes abbreviated as the Buck Karnes Bridge, is a vehicle bridge that crosses the Tennessee River in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. The bridge carries US 129/SR 115 (Alcoa Highway) between Knoxville and Maryville. The current bridge structure was completed in 1990, replacing an older structure that existed from 1930 to 1990 at the same location. The 1,169-foot (356 m) bridge is one of three vehicle bridges connecting Downtown Knoxville with South Knoxville, the other two being the James C. Ford Memorial Bridge, (James White Parkway), and the Henley Bridge, (Chapman Hwy and Henley Street). The bridge is named in honor of James Ernest Karnes, a Sergeant in the United States Army. He served in World War I and was awarded the Medal of Honor for action in France in 1918. The bridge was originally constructed as one of many toll bridges throughout Tennessee. It was later 'freed' by the State Legislature and tolls officially removed in 1939. Since the bridge was completed prior to the road leading South being finished, no actual tolls were ever collected at this bridge.

The University of Tennessee Agriculture Farm Mound is an archaeological site on the agriculture campus of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee. The site is a burial mound made by people of the Woodland period and has been dated as early as 644 AD. Today, the site is a landmark on the University of Tennessee campus and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Westwood is a historic home located at 3425 Kingston Pike at the edge of the Sequoyah Hills area of Knoxville, Tennessee. Also known as the Adelia Armstrong Lutz House, the house was built in 1890 by John Lutz and his wife, artist Adelia Armstrong Lutz, on land given to them by Adelia's father, Robert H. Armstrong. In 1984, the house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its architecture. The house stands on land that was once part of the large estate established by early Knoxville resident Drury P. Armstrong (1799–1856). Armstrong built Crescent Bend, which still stands nearby, in 1834. Robert H. Armstrong, a son of Drury, inherited a portion of his father's estate. The Bleak House, built in 1858, also still stands a few blocks from Westwood on Kingston Pike.Westwood was designed in the Queen Anne style by the local architectural firm of Baumann Brothers. Unlike most Queen Anne houses extant in Knoxville, the house was executed in brick and stone, incorporating some Richardsonian Romanesque elements. The 5,000-square-foot (460 m2), 10-bedroom house has 10 fireplaces with custom mantels and decorative tiles. The front parlor features a hand-painted ceiling.Adelia Armstrong Lutz was an accomplished painter who had studied at the Corcoran in Washington, D.C., the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and in Europe. She maintained an art studio in the house, in an unusual long room on the eastern side of the house that has a high ceiling, tall louvered windows, and skylights. Its hardwood floors are laid with alternating types of wood, creating a striped effect, and the walls are painted red.Westwood remained in the Lutz family until 2009, when the Lutzes' granddaughter died. In 2012, the house was purchased by the Aslan Foundation, which planned to restore the house and transfer it to the local historic preservation organization, Knox Heritage, for its offices. Restoration plans included removing a garage and a recreation room that was added in the 20th century, repainting in the style of the period, and updating the plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.

Regal Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. This stadium hosts the Tennessee Lady Volunteers Soccer Team in the NCAA, and One Knoxville SC in USL League One. The stadium is located on the University of Tennessee's campus, adjacent to Sherri Parker Lee Stadium, home of the Tennessee Lady Vols Softball Stadium. The stadium has a maximum capacity of 3,000 fans.The stadium's initial name was the Tennessee Soccer Complex, but was changed to its current name after a donation from Regal Cinemas in 2007.One Knoxville SC uses this stadium as a temporary venue before the new ground, hosted in Old City in Downtown Knoxville, opens in 2025. The new stadium will also host the Tennessee Smokies, a Double A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.

Crescent Bend is a historic home at 2728 Kingston Pike in Knoxville, Tennessee. The building is known as Crescent Bend because of its location on a bend of the Tennessee River. It is also known as the Armstrong-Lockett House, Longview and Logueval. Crescent Bend was built in 1834 by Drury Paine Armstrong (1799–1856), a farmer, merchant and public official who estimated that the house had cost him $5,517. The house was once the centerpiece of a 600-acre (2.4 km2) farm. This is one of three early homes built by the Armstrong family on Kingston Pike, the others being Bleak House, built by Drury's son, Robert H. Armstrong, and Westwood, built by Drury's granddaughter, Adelia Armstrong Lutz (1859–1931). It was later purchased by Percy Lockett. It was also Confederate General Joseph B. Kershaw's headquarters during the Siege of Knoxville. It is a contributing property to the Kingston Pike Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The home is a traditional brick farmhouse. The home's contents include 18th-century English and American furniture, decorative arts and silver. The property includes formal Italian gardens with nine terraces and five fountains. The house and gardens are open to the public.

Sequoyah Hills is a neighborhood in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States, named for the Cherokee scholar Sequoyah. It is located off Kingston Pike, between the city's downtown and West Knoxville. Initially developed in the 1920s, Sequoyah Hills was one of Knoxville's first suburbs and today is home to some of the city's most affluent residents. The neighborhood contains numerous notable examples of mid-20th century residential architecture, with houses designed by architects such as Charles I. Barber, Benjamin McMurry, and Francis Keally.Originally an agricultural area called Looney's Bend, the modern Sequoyah Hills neighborhood is largely rooted in the development efforts of 1920s-era visionary entrepreneurs E. V. Ferrell, who developed the Scenic Drive area, and Robert L. Foust, who established the "Talahi" subdivision in the vicinity of Cherokee Boulevard and Talahi Drive. Foust and Ferrell advertised their respective developments as utopian getaways where Knoxville's elite could escape the ills of congested city life. While the Great Depression led to the financial collapse of the Talahi project and Foust's subsequent suicide, Sequoyah Hills nevertheless continued to develop over the years as Foust had envisioned.Cherokee Boulevard was home to Knoxville's first Dogwood Arts Trail, which was established in 1955. In 1979, the Talahi Improvements, which consist of several early landscape elements from Foust's Talahi development, were listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Kingston Pike is a highway in Knox County, Tennessee, United States, that connects Downtown Knoxville with West Knoxville, Farragut, and other communities in the western part of the county. The road follows a merged stretch of U.S. Route 11 (US 11) and US 70. From its initial construction in the 1790s until the development of the Interstate Highway System in the 1960s, Kingston Pike was the main traffic artery in western Knox County, and an important section of several cross-country highways. The road is now a major commercial corridor, containing hundreds of stores, restaurants, and other retail establishments.The old Kingston road was originally surveyed and laid out in 1792 by Charles McClung which connected Knoxville to Campbell's Station, now Farragut. About 1795, the road was extended to Fort Southwest Point at what is now Kingston. During the Civil War, Confederate and Union forces fought several skirmishes along the Kingston road as they struggled for control of Knoxville. The Kingston Turnpike Company was chartered in 1866 to improve the Kingston road and by 1893 had extended the improved road to the county line. From the 1920s into the 1950s, Kingston Pike was a major stopover for tourists traveling along the Dixie and Lee highways, which intersected at Kingston Pike.Starting with the completion of West Town Mall in 1970, Kingston Pike developed into Knoxville's largest retail corridor. Historian Jack Neely wrote, "If suburban sprawl had a local name, it would be Kingston Pike." The road is now home to "an enclosed shopping mall, a big-box mall, over 100 strip malls, 100 chain restaurants," and "more acreage of asphalt surface parking than any other street in the Knoxville MSA."

Sherri Parker Lee Stadium is a softball stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is the home field of the University of Tennessee Volunteers college softball team. The stadium opened in 2008 and holds 2,200 people. The Stadium is named after UT graduate Sherri Lee.In 2010, the then-Lady Volunteers ranked 16th in Division I college softball in attendance, averaging 710 per home game.In 2011, Sherri Parker Lee Stadium was recognized as the 2011 NFCA/Stabilizer Solutions Field of the Year Award Winner.On May 28, 2017, with a trip to the NCAA Women's College World Series on the line, a record crowd of 2,459 witnessed the Lady Vols lose to the Texas A&M Aggies 5–3 in the NCAA Super Regional deciding game. Unlike most stadiums in the SEC, fan access to the seating area is from a concourse at the bottom of the grandstand, not the top. This means that as fans enter and walk around the concourse, they block the view of the fans already seated. This problem is compounded by the handicap seating being on the field side of the concourse, obstructing the view of the fans sitting in the first few rows. Most SEC stadiums feature a concourse at the top and no separation between the first row and the field. This design also means that during television broadcasts, no fans are seen in the camera view.

Lindsey Nelson Stadium is a baseball stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is the home field of the University of Tennessee Volunteers college baseball team. The stadium opened on February 23, 1993 and holds 4,387 people. The facility is named after Hall of Fame broadcaster Lindsey Nelson, who attended the university and founded the Vol Radio Network.From 2006 to 2019, the university undertook three major renovations to the stadium. Originally a natural grass playing surface, the 2019 renovation converted the field to Field Turf. Other renovations included premium seating, outfield wall improvements, and player facilities.In 2013, the Volunteers ranked 38th in among Division I baseball programs in attendance, averaging 1,846 per home game.
