Kimcote and Walton

Walton is a village in the civil parish of Kimcote and Walton, in the Harborough district, in the county of Leicestershire, England, south of Leicester and west of Market Harborough. The village has a pub named The Dog and Gun. According to the local population the Village is supposedly haunted by at least 4 ghosts. Including the appearance of the hanging body of a local person, that has been spotted by motorists driving out of the village at night, in one of the large trees on the roadside. Also the village's pub, the Dog and Gun, is supposedly haunted by the spirit of a dog who has been spotted by many pub-goers walking around the bar. Walton was historically a hamlet in the ancient parish of Knaptoft, and was known as Walton in Knaptoft. It became a separate civil parish in 1866. The parish was abolished on 31 March 1898 and merged with Kimcote to form the civil parish of "Kimcote and Walton". In 1881 the parish had a population of 208.

Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome and Proving Ground (IATA: none, ICAO: n/a) is a privately owned former airport near the village of Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire 11 miles (18 km) to the south of Leicester. It was opened as RAF Bruntingthorpe in 1942.

Gilmorton is a village and civil parish about 3 miles (5 km) northeast of Lutterworth in Leicestershire, England. The 2011 Census recorded the parish population as 976.

The parish also includes the hamlet of Upper Bruntingthorpe. The population at the 2011 census had increased to 425. the village contains a pub called the plough, a restaurant called the joiners and a garage called bruntingthorpe motor engineers.The former RAF Bruntingthorpe is now Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome.

Misterton with Walcote, formerly just Misterton is a civil parish in the English county of Leicestershire. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 486.It forms part of the Harborough district. Of its two settlements Walcote is by far the larger, but Misterton has the parish church. Walcote is on the A4304 road some two miles east of the town of Lutterworth and a mile east of Junction 20 of the M1 motorway. The village has one public house, The Black Horse, which re-opened in 2017. The Tavern is now a private dwelling.

Peatling Parva is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district, south Leicestershire, England. It lies 2.6 km west-north-west of Ashby Magna and 2.9 km south-south-west of Peatling Magna. The village is recorded in the Domesday Book from 1086 and was known as Alia Petlinge with listed landowners Howard, from Hugh de Grandmesnil, and Leofric, from Adelaide wife of Hugh de Grandmensil.The population was recorded as 159 in the 1841 census and 181 in the census of 2001. A village church, St Andrews Church, is part of the Diocese of Leicester of the Church of England. The village also has a public house, The Shires Inn. A village hall was built in 1989 and holds local meetings of the Parish Council. It is a regular polling station for local, national and European elections and hosts performances from Centre Stage, a rural and community touring scheme. Peatling Parva lies adjacent to the villages of Gilmorton and Bruntingthorpe, home to the Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome and Proving Ground.

Walcote is a village in the English county of Leicestershire. It is on the A4304 road some two miles east of the town of Lutterworth and a mile east of Junction 20 of the M1 motorway. It is the major settlement of the civil parish of Misterton with Walcote and forms part of Harborough district.

North Kilworth is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district, in south Leicestershire, England, north of South Kilworth. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 597. Largely bypassed by the A4304 road, the village consists of a mix of old and new housing and includes a primary school and the parish church of St. Andrew's dating from the 13th century. At the time of the Domesday survey (1086) there were two settlements Chivelesworde and Cleveliorde, both belonging to the vill of Stanford-on-Avon across the border in Northamptonshire; they were given by Guy de Reinbudcurt to Benedict, founding abbot of Selby, Yorkshire later differentiated into North and South Kilworth. In -iorde can be immediately recognized yard, and the -worde or -worth form of the same suffix can be recognized in garth, all of them words denoting hedged enclosures that each belonged to Ceofel. The site of the "Old Hall" was noted to the northwest of the church, enclosed on three sides by a moat 18 feet wide and three feet deep with further earthworks. The moat has recently been dug out to create a water filled area for wildlife. The village is located on the edge of a large natural aquifer which accounts for the large number of springs in and around the area. Recent cessation of water extraction by Severn Trent water (for use in the nearby Market Harborough conurbation) has led to a rise in the local water table.

South Kilworth is a village and civil parish in the southern part of Leicestershire, England, south of North Kilworth. The parish has a population of 430, according to the 2001 Census, and is part of the district of Harborough. The population had risen to 513 at the 2011 census.

Misterton Marshes is a 6.8-hectare (17-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Misterton in Leicestershire.This is one of the largest areas of unimproved wetland in the county. Its large areas of tall fen are dominated by common reed, reed canary grass and lesser pond-sedge. There is also an area of grazed marsh and a stream.The site is private land with no public access.
