Winterswijk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌʋɪntərsˈʋɛik] ; also known as Winterswiek or Wenters) is a municipality and a town in the eastern Netherlands. It has a population of 29,022 and is situated in the Achterhoek, which lies in the easternmost part of the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. It was also known as Winethereswick, Winriswic or Wenterswic; the Anglo Saxon wich or wic means the living place of a certain person. The person would likely have been called Wenether, Winitar or Winter.

Winterswijk is a railway station in Winterswijk, Netherlands. The station opened on 24 June 1878 and is located on the Zutphen–Winterswijk railway and the Winterswijk–Zevenaar railway. The train services are operated by Arriva. The station used to be an important point where freight trains would go into Germany. There used to be lines going in 5 directions: Arnhem, Zutphen, Bocholt (Germany), Borken (Germany) and Neede. Today there are 3 buses to Germany, otherwise passengers have to travel to Arnhem, Hengelo or Enschede.

Winterswijk West is a railway station in Winterswijk, Netherlands. The station opened on 10 June 2001 and is located on the Zutphen–Winterswijk railway. The train services are operated by Arriva.

Stadtlohn-Vreden Airport (German: Flugplatz Stadtlohn-Vreden) (ICAO: EDLS) is an airfield located 2.8 NM (5.2 km; 3.2 mi) west of Stadtlohn, in the Borken district, Germany. Its runway lays adjacent to the Dutch border. The airfield is used for general aviation, as well for gliding and skydiving. Plans are made to extend the runway to 1,800 m (5,906 ft) but these plans are controversial. Local political parties disagree with each other whether growth is worthwhile the 8 million Euro investment. The final decision by the Kreistag was expected at 2 April 2009 but is postponed. As of 2 October 2010, the runway extension works have begun.

Südlohn is a municipality in the district of Borken in the northwestern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located right at the border with the Netherlands, approx. 10 km east of Winterswijk. It consists of the villages Südlohn and Oeding.

Vreden is a small town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany near the Dutch border. The town is located near the river Berkel. The first mentioning of the town is proven for the year 839. In 1252 Vreden obtained city rights.

Ölbach is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Berkel near Vreden.The Ölbach is one of the few outcrops of this region due to the topographic nature (gentle hills and flat land) of the Münsterland and is known for its numerous finds of belemnites. In its upper and middle reaches it exposes the gray clay layers belonging the Alb (Lower Cretaceous), and its many fossils.

Rhede (German: [ˈʁeːdə] ) is a municipality in the district of Borken in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located near the border with the Netherlands, approximately 5 km (3.1 mi) east of Bocholt.

Zwolle is a hamlet in the province of Gelderland, Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Oost Gelre, about 3 km southeast of the town of Groenlo. It was first mentioned in 1234 as Suellen and means "height". The postal authorities have placed it under Groenlo. In 1840, Zwolle was home to 245 people. It has its own place name signs.

Borken (Westf) station (German: Bahnhof Borken (Westf)) is the main station of the town of Borken and important transport hub of west Münsterland in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Borken station is a former railway junction on the Gelsenkirchen-Bismarck–Winterswijk railway, the Empel-Rees–Münster railway and the Borken–Steinfurt railway. Since 1996, it has been the terminus of the only section of the Gelsenkirchen-Bismarck–Winterswijk line that is still operating.

't Klooster is a hamlet in the municipality of Aalten, near Bredevoort (Achterhoek region) in the eastern Netherlands. 't Klooster is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Aalten.Klooster is a Dutch word for "monastery". In the fifteenth century, what is now 't Klooster was home to a monastery named "Nazareth" or "Schaer" devoted to the Devotio Moderna. In addition, in 2005, a bronze statue was revealed, designed by artist Jan te Kulve, which shows an inhabitant of the former monastery wearing the outfit of his order. In 1975, the name 't Klooster first appeared for the hamlet. It has no place name signs, and consists of about 40 houses.

De Prins van Oranje (English: The Prince of Orange) is a tower mill in Bredevoort, Gelderland, Netherlands which was built in 1870 and has been restored to working order. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument.
