Borken (German pronunciation: [ˈbɔʁkn̩] , Westphalian: Buorken) is a town and the capital of the district of the same name, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Heiden is a municipality in the district of Borken in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located approximately 5 km east of Borken. Its most important symbol are the devil stones.

Borken is a Kreis (district) in the northwestern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany in the Münster region. Neighboring districts are Steinfurt, Coesfeld, Recklinghausen, Wesel, Cleves, Bentheim in the Lower Saxony and the Dutch provinces Gelderland and Overijssel. The two biggest cities are Bocholt and Gronau.

Raesfeld (German pronunciation: [ˈʁaːsfɛlt]) is a municipality in the district of Borken in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located approximately 10 km south of Borken and 30 km east of the Dutch border. Raesfeld's landmark is the moated castle Schloss Raesfeld, originally built in the 13th century and extended and remodeled in Renaissance style in the 17th century. It is now primarily used by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as a center for the teaching of crafts; the formal gardens have been lost, but the wildlife park has been restored and is part of the European Garden Heritage Network. The municipality of Raesfeld includes Erle, a village within the Naturpark Hohe Mark that has an ancient oak, the Femeiche, thought to be 600–850 years old and named for Vehmic court sessions formerly held under it.

Südlohn is a municipality in the district of Borken in the northwestern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located right at the border with the Netherlands, approx. 10 km east of Winterswijk. It consists of the villages Südlohn and Oeding.

The Femeiche, formerly known as Rabenseiche, Ravenseiche, or Erler Eiche, located in Erle within the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Borken, is one of Germany's oldest oaks, estimated to be between 600 and 850 years old. This English oak (Quercus robur) stands near the parish church. Feme courts were held beneath this oak until the 16th century, making it the oldest and most renowned court tree in Central Europe. For more than a century, this oak tree has been designated a natural monument due to its age, lightning strikes, storms, and human impact. The trunk has been hollow for about 250 years and consists only of sapwood. The trunk shell, supported by poles, encompasses a hollow space with an almost three-meter diameter.

Velen is a town in the district Borken, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany with about 12,000 citizens. It consists of the two settlements of Velen and Ramsdorf and the four rural regions Ostendorf-Krueckling, Bleking-Holthausen, Nordvelen and Waldvelen. In 2003 the town received the title "staatlich anerkannter Erholungsort" (recreation village approved by the state) from the regional president. Since August 2012 it is a town. It was arwarded the title "annerkannter Luftkurort" (state-approved climatic health resort) in January of 2023.

Kotten is a hamlet in the municipality of Winterswijk, in the Netherlands. It was first mentioned in 1302 as Katen or Koten, and means "little farms/houses".Kotten was home to 677 people in 1840. Kotten always had good relations with neighbouring Oeding in Germany and both villages used to known for their smuggling activities.

Stadtlohn-Vreden Airport (German: Flugplatz Stadtlohn-Vreden) (ICAO: EDLS) is an airfield located 2.8 NM (5.2 km; 3.2 mi) west of Stadtlohn, in the Borken district, Germany. Its runway lays adjacent to the Dutch border. The airfield is used for general aviation, as well for gliding and skydiving. Plans are made to extend the runway to 1,800 m (5,906 ft) but these plans are controversial. Local political parties disagree with each other whether growth is worthwhile the 8 million Euro investment. The final decision by the Kreistag was expected at 2 April 2009 but is postponed. As of 2 October 2010, the runway extension works have begun.

Stadtlohn (Low German: Stadlaun) is a city in western Münsterland in the northwest of North Rhine-Westphalia, and is a district town of the Borken administrative district. The city had a population of 20,746 inhabitants as of 2020. The River Berkel flows through the city on its way to the Netherlands.

Schermbeck is a municipality in the district of Wesel, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Lembeck is a village in the north of Dorsten which belongs to Recklinghausen in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. It is located in the north Ruhr area, on the border with Münsterland. As of the year 2020, it has a total population of 5,124.
