Gaustad

The VID Specialized University (Norwegian: VID vitenskapelige høgskole) is a Norwegian accredited, private, non-profit specialized university headquartered in Oslo. VID has 6,000 students and nearly 700 employees. It is one of three private specialized universities in Norway, alongside BI and MF.VID is a subsidiary of the foundation Diakonhjemmet, an independent and non-profit diaconal institution within the Lutheran state Church of Norway. VID was established in 2016 through a merger of Diakonhjemmet University College with several smaller colleges with a history dating back to 1843. Campus Diakonhjemmet, which is VID's headquarters and largest campus, is located in Frøen in Oslo next to Diakonhjemmet Hospital, also owned by Diakonhjemmet. The first rector of VID was Ingunn Moser. VID conducts research and offers studies from bachelor's to doctoral level in health and social sciences, theology and management. VID has around 50 study programmes, including three doctoral programmes. The traditional core activity is nurse education, which is still the largest study programme and carried out in cooperation with Diakonhjemmet Hospital and other hospitals. It also offers degrees at all levels in social work disciplines. The university also offers the professional six-year degree in theology (cand.theol.) that qualifies for the priesthood in the state Church of Norway.

Gaustad is a rapid transit station of the Oslo Metro's Holmenkollen Line. It is situated Gausad neighborhood of the Oslo, Norway, borough of Vestre Aker. Located 4.7 kilometers (2.9 mi) from Stortinget, the station is served by Line 1 of the metro every fifteen minutes. Travel time to Stortinget is ten minutes. The National Hospital and several research institutes fall within the station's catchment area. The station opened on 31 May 1898. A station building was constructed in 1903, and served as a waiting room until 1916. From then a waiting shed was used. The station is being considered for a lengthening of the platforms, but this is difficult due to it being located in a sharp curve.

Steinerud is a rapid transit station of the Oslo Metro's Holmenkollen Line. It is situated in the Steinerud neighborhood of the Oslo, Norway, borough of Vestre Aker. Located 3.8 kilometers (2.4 mi) from Stortinget, the station is served by Line 1 of the metro every fifteen minutes. Travel time to Stortinget is seven minutes. Diakonhjemmet Hospital falls within the station's catchment area. The station opened in 1900. Originally named Diakonhjemmet, it received a station building in Swiss chalet style. It took the current name in 1936. With an average 196 weekday boarding passengers, Steinerud is among the least-used station of the metro. Ruter has proposed closing the station and replacing it and Frøen with a new one closer to the hospital.

Vinderen is a rapid transit station of the Oslo Metro's Holmenkollen Line. It is situated Vinderen neighborhood of the Oslo, Norway, borough of Vestre Aker. Located 4.2 kilometers (2.6 mi) from Stortinget, the station is served by Line 1 of the metro every fifteen minutes. Travel time to Stortinget is nine minutes. Vinderen is neighborhood center and mostly a residential area. The platforms are located on each side of a level crossing. The station opened with the line on 31 May 1898. A station building was erected in 1913, becoming the headquarters for the operator Holmenkolbanen. It became disused in the 1960s and demolished in 1971. Ruter is considering lowering the tracks to remove the level crossing, which would result in a new station layout under the overpass.

Frøen is a rapid transit station of the Oslo Metro's Holmenkollen Line and previously also the Sognsvann Line. It is situated Frøen neighborhood of the Oslo, Norway, borough of Vestre Aker. Located 3.2 kilometers (2.0 mi) from Stortinget, the station is served by Line 1 of the metro every fifteen minutes. Travel time to Stortinget is six minutes. Diakonhjemmet Hospital falls within the station's catchment area. The initial station opened on 31 May 1898. With the construction of the Sognsvann Line, Frøen became both a stop on it as well as the interchange between the two lines. It therefore received four separate platforms at three different elevations. It served trains on the Sognsvann Line from 10 October 1934 until 1992. Frøen received a slight upgrade in 2010. However, Ruter plans to close it down and replace it and Steinerud with a new station.

Blindern is a rapid transit station on the Oslo Metro's Sognsvann Line. It is situated in the Blindern neighborhood of the Nordre Aker borough of Oslo, Norway. Located 4.0 kilometers (2.5 mi) from Stortinget, the station is served by lines 4 and 5 of the metro, with a combined five-minute headway. Travel time to Stortinget is seven minutes. Along with Forskningsparken, it serves the campus of the University of Oslo. The station opened on 10 October 1934 along with the rest of the Sognsvann Line. Until 1994 the station was called Blindernveien, named for the road which crossed the line at a level crossing. The station received a major upgrade in 1993, in which longer platforms and an overpass for pedestrians were installed.

Vinderen is a neighbourhood in the Vestre Aker borough of Oslo, Norway. It was a separate borough until 1 January 2004, when it was incorporated into the newly established borough of Vestre Aker. Its amenities include Vinderen station. The prosperous avenue of Tuengen Allé in Vinderen was the childhood home of Queen Sonja of Norway at 1B; and the current embassy of China in Norway at 2B. During 2015 will the Queens childhood home be moved to Maihaugen in Lillehammer.10C Tuengen Alle is the functionalist Villa Stenersen, designed by architect Arne Korsmo and was built from 1937 to 1939 for the financier, art collector, and author Rolf Stenersen and his family. Stenerson bequeathed the Villa Stenersen to the State of Norway as a home for the Prime Minister. Odvar Nordli lived in the house, but the building has since been used for cultural purposes.

Oslo Science City (Norwegian: Forskningsbyen) is a research district in Oslo, Norway, traditionally centered on the Blindern and Gaustad areas in the suburban western part of the city. It was largely built in the 1950s when the University of Oslo and several technical research institutes established themselves in Blindern–Gaustad. The name Oslo Science City (Forskningsbyen) was first used by the newly established Central Institute of Industrial Research in 1949 in connection with the planned development of then-rural Gaustad. The road Forskningsveien (Science Road) was named for the district in 1955.Today the area includes the largest campus of the University of Oslo, Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet and Oslo Science Park. An association named Oslo Science City was established in 2019. The association is controversial for insisting that the Blindern–Gaustad area should be known under an English name. The Language Council of Norway has strongly rejected the proposals to rename any areas in Blindern–Gaustad or use English names, and has pointed out that Norwegian is the main language to be used in all areas of society, as mandated by law and official government policy.

Oslo Science Park (Forskningsparken i Oslo) is a science park located in Oslo, Norway. It is operated by Oslotech; its two main shareholders are the University of Oslo and Industrial Development Corporation of Norway (Siva). Its smaller shareholders include a large number of public institutions and private companies.It is home to more than 140 companies, research groups and institutes that’s works with research and development within the fields of biotechnology and chemistry, medicine, information technology, media, materials science, electronics and environment- and society.The complex has 5 buildings that houses more than 2000 people. In addition SINTEF and Department of Informatics, University of Oslo also have buildings located close by, but thus are not considered part of Oslo Innovation Center. Together with their partner Kistefos Oslo Innovation Center also manages a venture fund Springfondet, that can make early stage investments in companies that are located at their incubator.

Radio Nova is a non-commercially run student radio situated and broadcasting in Oslo, Norway, at FM 99.3. The radio is run by a team of volunteer journalists and technicians. The station went on-air for the first time on 16 March 1982, as Norway's first non-Christian, local radio station.As of 2015, the station broadcasts 60 hours a week between 40 programs. In the course of a week there is a range of different programmes; debates, programs that deal with film, the sciences, literature, music, culture and social questions. Together with the rest of Norway's student radio stations, Radio Nova introduced a shared endeavor to further the cause of independent/alternative music: a national student radio play-list. The student stations in the three biggest university towns (Oslo, Bergen, and Trondheim) have in cooperation put together the list, but with the expectation it will be played by smaller student stations throughout the country.

The Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics (Norwegian: Institutt for teoretisk astrofysikk, abbreviated ITA) is a research and teaching institute dedicated to astronomy, astrophysics and solar physics located at Blindern in Oslo, Norway. It is a department of The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Oslo. It was founded in its current form by Svein Rosseland with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation in 1934, and was the first of its kind in the world when it opened. Prior to that, it existed as the University Observatory which was created in 1833. It thus is one of the university's oldest institutions. As of 2019, it houses research groups in cosmology, extragalactic astronomy, and The Rosseland Centre for Solar Physics, a Norwegian Centre of Excellence.

MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society (Norwegian: MF vitenskapelig høyskole for teologi, religion og samfunn), formerly the Free Faculty of Theology (Norwegian: Det teologiske menighetsfakultet) and MF Norwegian School of Theology, is an accredited Norwegian specialized university focused on theology, religion, education and social studies, located in Oslo, Norway. It is one of three private specialized universities in Norway, alongside VID and BI.
