Newcomb Place

The George A. Barker House is a historic house located at 74 Greenleaf Street in Quincy, Massachusetts. Built in the late 1870s for the son of a local granite quarry owner, it is a good local example of Queen Anne architecture with Stick style details. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 20, 1989.

The Henry F. Barker House is a historic house at 103 Greenleaf Street in Quincy, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built in 1871 for Henry F. Barker, owner of some of Quincy's largest granite quarries. It is one of the best-preserved Italianate houses on Greenleaf Street, which is lined with fashionable 19th-century houses. The L-shaped house has paired brackets and dentil moulding in the eaves, projecting polygonal window bays with similar features, and a decorated porch in the crook of the L.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Dorothy Q Apartments are a historic apartment house at 36 Butler Road in Quincy, Massachusetts. It is a five-story brick Colonial Revival structure, consisting of two rectangular blocks joined at one end into a U shape. Its trim elements are in limestone, and include corner quoining, keystones over the windows, and a modillioned cornice. The complex was designed by Graves and Epps and built in 1929, during a period of rapid growth in the city. It is named for the Dorothy Quincy Homestead, which is next door.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The New England Telephone Building is a historic utility building at 10 Merrymount Road in Quincy, Massachusetts. This two-story Classical Revival brick structure was built c. 1906 and doubled in size in 1924, reaching its present proportions. It housed the telephone exchange of the New England Telephone Company until 1940, after which time it was converted to office space.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Woodward School has been educating and empowering young women in grades 6 - 12 since 1894. Located in Quincy, Massachusetts, near Quincy Center, it is the only private high school in the city. The Dorothy Quincy Homestead is a US National Historic Landmark at 34 Butler Road in Quincy, Massachusetts. The house was originally built by Edmund Quincy II in 1686 who had an extensive property upon which there were multiple buildings. Today, the site consists of the Dorothy Quincy Homestead, which has been preserved as a museum and is open occasionally to the public.

The Charles H. Burgess House is a historic house at 17 Whitney Road in Quincy, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1903 by Charles H. Burgess, a real estate developer and auction-house owner. The house exhibits both Queen Anne and Shingle styling, with Queen Anne-like projecting corner bay, and a wraparound porch supported by paired columns. Decorative cut shingles make a string course under a slight flare at the base of the second floor.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Quincy Masonic Temple was a historic Masonic temple at 1170 Hancock Street, Quincy, Massachusetts. It was built in 1926 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The building was home to three "Blue" Masonic Lodges, two Appendant Bodies: York Rite, Grotto, and two Youth Groups: DeMolay and Rainbow. Rural Lodge was founded in 1801. Macedonian Lodge was founded in 1892. Milton Lodge was founded in 1922.

Adams Academy was a school that opened in 1872 in Quincy, Massachusetts, United States. John Adams, the second President of the United States, had many years before established the Adams Temple and School Fund. This fund gave 160 acres (0.65 km2) of land to the people of Quincy in trust. His objective for the money was to build a school in honor of his friends John Hancock and Josiah Quincy, who, like Adams, lived in the town of Quincy, Massachusetts. John Hancock's birth place had been on the land.

In 1890 a railway accident occurred in Quincy, Massachusetts that killed 23 people. It was the second major train wreck in the city, following the 1878 accident in Wollaston. The accident was caused by a jack that had been left on the track. The foreman of the crew that placed the jack on the track was charged with manslaughter, but the trial ended in a hung jury.
