At the 2010 census, the population was 3,152.Based on per capita income, one of the more reliable measures of affluence, Maple Heights-Lake Desire ranks 28th of 522 areas in the state of Washington to be ranked.

Spring Lake is located in King County, Washington, in the Maple Heights-Lake Desire census-designated place. It sits next to Spring Lake/Lake Desire Park, on the opposite side of Lake Desire. The lake also has fishing opportunities.

Lake Youngs is a reservoir in King County, Washington. It is located between Maple Valley and Renton along the route of pipelines carrying water from the Cedar River to Seattle, and is accessible only to Seattle Public Utilities staff and authorized visitors.Originally the site of 548 acres (222 ha) Swan Lake, construction of the Lake Youngs reservoir began in earnest in the early 1920s and was completed by 1926. Lake Youngs has a surface area of 700 acres (2.8 km2) and a maximum depth of 72 feet (22 m). It was named for longtime Seattle Water Department head L. B. Youngs, who died in 1923. Lake Youngs is used as a visual checkpoint for pilots flying into and out of Renton Municipal Airport. Lake Youngs is drained by Little Soos Creek.

Ray Reeves Gymnasium is located in the East Renton Highlands, Washington at Liberty Senior High School. Named for Ray Reeves, he was a founding member of the Liberty High School Booster Club and was a recipient of the Golden Acorn Award. Each year, a student athlete at liberty is given the Ray Reeves Booster Club Award. The gym was dedicated on June 11, 2004. With a seating capacity of over 2,000, it is one of the largest and most expensive class AAA high school gyms in the Pacific Northwest. In 1999, the gymnasium was remodeled and an adjoining building was added to create a higher seating capacity. The gym features a state of the art basketball court and wrestling floor. The Ray Reeves Gymnasium holds regional high school sporting events throughout the year.

Liberty High School is a secondary school located in the East Renton Highlands in King County, Washington, United States. Founded in 1977, Liberty anchors the southern region of the Issaquah School District in the areas of Mirrormont, Issaquah, Four Lakes, May Valley, East Renton Highlands, Lakemont area of Bellevue, and the city of Newcastle. The school was named Liberty in celebration of the U.S. bicentennial celebration in 1976. After its naming, the bell from the research ship USS Liberty was acquired and is currently on display in the NJROTC (Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) room and is used for NJROTC ceremonies.Liberty works congruently with the Bellevue College's "College in the High School" program in Spanish and Physics, which allows students to earn both high school and college credits through a different means than AP courses.

Tahoma National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery in unincorporated King County, Washington. It encompasses 158.3 acres (64.1 ha), and as of the end of 2019, had over 60,000 interments, compared to the end of 2008 with 23,479 interments, and 15,924 interments in 2005. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it was the only national cemetery in the state of Washington until 2020, when the Vancouver Barracks National Cemetery was established.
