Market Overton

The Church of St Peter and St Paul is the Church of England parish church in Market Overton, Rutland. The church is part of the Oakham team ministry. It is a Grade I listed building.

Barrow is a village and civil parish in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. It is located about five miles (8 km) north-east of Oakham. At the 2011 census the population remained less than 100 and is included in the civil parish of Cottesmore. The village's name means 'Burial-mound/hill', probably signifying to the one on the crest of the hill near The Green.

Teigh is a village and civil parish in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. The population of the village was 48 in the 2001 census. At the 2011 census the population remained less than 100 and was included with the civil parish of Market Overton. It is notable for its Holy Trinity Church, almost unaltered since a 1782 rebuild by Robert Sherard, 4th Earl of Harborough, that features pews that face one another rather than the altar. Both the parish church and the Old Rectory of 1740 are Grade II* listed buildings. The Old Rectory was used for the filming of the 1995 BBC series of Pride and Prejudice; it served as Hunsford parsonage, Mr Collins's modest home. The village's name origin is unsure, the name probably means 'a small enclosure' or 'a meeting place'.The writer Arthur Mee proposed Teigh as one of the few Thankful Villages which lost no men in the First World War.

Cribb's Meadow is a 4.2-hectare (10-acre) nature reserve east of Wymondham in Leicestershire. It is owned and managed by the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust, and is designated a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest under the name Cribb's Lodge Meadows. It is also a National Nature Reserve and a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2.The embankment of a disused railway runs through this ridge and furrow neutral meadow on boulder clay. The diverse flora includes adder's tongue fern, pepper saxifrage, hayrattle and green-winged orchid.There is access from Fosse Lane, and a footpath runs through the southern end.

Sewstern is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Buckminster, in the Melton district of east Leicestershire, England. It lies just south of Buckminster, with which it shares a primary school, situated between the two villages. It is 9 miles east of Melton Mowbray, 10 miles south of Grantham and 4 miles from the A1 at Colsterworth. It is the easternmost village in Leicestershire.

Cottesmore AFC (formerly known as Cottesmore Amateurs FC) is a football club based in Cottesmore, Rutland, England. They are currently members of the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division and play at Westray Park.

No. 7 Flying Training School (7 FTS) is a former Royal Air Force flying training school that operated between 1935 and 1994.From 1948 to 1954, No 7 Flying Training School was located at RAF Cottesmore, flying Tiger Moths, Harvards, Prentices and Balliols. During 1950 many improvements were made to the hangars and buildings at RAF Valley and on 1 April 1951 No. 202 Advanced Flying School was reformed at Valley, within No. 25 Group RAF, to train fighter pilots on de Havilland Vampire and Gloster Meteor jet aircraft. Vampire FB.5 and T.11 and Meteor T.7 marks were used until the unit was re-designated No. 7 Flying Training School (FTS) on 1 June 1954. On 15 August 1960 the unit was renumbered No. 4 Flying Training School RAF.The School was based at RAF Church Fenton, Yorkshire between 1962 and 1966 and again between 1979 and 1992, equipped with Hunting/BAC Jet Provost T.3A and T.5A trainers. Its final iteration came at RAF Chivenor, Devon when 2 Tactical Weapons Unit was redesignated as 7 FTS with the BAe Hawk T.1 operated by 19(R) and 92(R) Squadrons. It was disbanded for the final time on 30 September 1994 with the closure of Chivenor as an RAF station and its transfer to the Royal Marines.

Royal Air Force Cottesmore or more simply RAF Cottesmore is a former Royal Air Force station in Rutland, England, situated between Cottesmore and Market Overton. On 15 December 2009, Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth announced that the station would close in 2013 as part of defence spending cuts, along with the retirement of the Harrier GR9 and the disbandment of Joint Force Harrier. The formal closing ceremony took place on 31 March 2011, and the airfield became a satellite of RAF Wittering until March 2012.In July 2011 Defence Secretary Liam Fox announced plans for it to be the airfield for one of five of the Army's Multi-Role Brigades. In April 2012 it was renamed Kendrew Barracks after Major General Sir Douglas Kendrew.

Kendrew Barracks is a British Army barracks located 1.1 miles (1.8 km) north east of Cottesmore, Rutland, England. The barracks opened in 2012, on the site of the former RAF Cottesmore.
