New Earswick is a model village and civil parish in the unitary authority of City of York in North Yorkshire, England, near the River Foss, north of York and south of Haxby. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 2,812, reducing to 2,737 at the 2011 Census.The village was historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire until 1974. It was then a part of the district of Ryedale in North Yorkshire from 1974 until 1996. Since 1996 it has been part of the City of York unitary authority.

All Saints' Church lies in Huntington, now a suburb of York, in England. An earlier All Saints' Church was built on the site in the 12th century. It was largely replaced by a new church in the 15th century, but one pier survives in an arcade by the organ, and the south door and its archway also remain, re-set in a new location. Of the 15th-century church, much of the chancel survives, with its east window, piscina and sedilia.The nave, tower and organ chambers of the church were rebuilt in 1874 by C. T. Newstead, in the Geometric Decorated style. The bells were recast in the 1880s. Inside, the communion table is Jacobean, and there are two coffin lids, believed to be 13th-century.The organ was built by Forster and Andrews in 1896 and was restored in 2001. A specification for it can be found on the National Pipe Organ Register.

Earswick station (before 1874, known as Huntington station) was a station on the York to Beverley Line north east of the City of York, England.

Huntington School is a coeducational, comprehensive secondary school situated in Huntington, York, England, with approximately 1,500 pupils.

Haxby Hall was an estate in York Road, village of Haxby, York, England. It was built in 1790 on 22 acres (89,000 m2) of land, and was grade II listed.In 1923, Haxby Hall was the residence of Mr. William Abel Wood, J.P. During the Second World War, the hall was used to billet evacuees from Hull.In 1950, the owner of the estate, Kenneth Ward, donated the pleasure grounds around the building to the village (which is now part of the City of York), to build the Ethel Ward Memorial Playing Field. The playing field now contains a children's playground, ball playing courts, a scout centre, and more. It is also the location of the village fairs and celebrations, and the home of the Haxby football teams, who play in the York and District League.Haxby Hall itself, now with only 3 acres (12,000 m2) of land, was demolished in 1960, and in 1965 it was replaced by the Haxby Hall Residential Home for the elderly (with accommodations for 52 elderly people), and an adjoining ambulance station.

Earswick is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of the City of York in North Yorkshire, England. It lies between Huntington and Strensall about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of York. According to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 819, increasing to 876 at the 2011 Census.The village was historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire until 1974. It was then a part of the district of Ryedale in North Yorkshire from 1974 until 1996. Since 1996 it has been part of the City of York unitary authority.

Haxby railway station was a minor railway station serving the town of Haxby in the City of York, England. Located on the York to Scarborough Line it was opened on 5 July 1845 by the York and North Midland Railway. The Y&NMR became part of the North Eastern Railway in 1854 which in turn became part of the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923. It closed on 22 September 1930. Bradshaws timetable for summer 1927 showed 15 trains in each direction on a weekday with two services on a Sunday. Trains operated between York and Flaxton railway station and a number of these were operated by a bus mounted on rail wheels. The initial rail bus was first put into service in 1922 and was based on the road buses operated by the North Eastern Railway (NER) in the Durham area. An additional driving position was fitted to the back and additional doors were fitted in the centre of the bus. The bus could seat 26 passengers and was initially numbered 110. This conflicted with another NER carriage number and was subsequently renumbered to Y130. In July 1923 Y130 was moved to Selby and a new rail motor (number 2130) started work. This was a slightly bigger vehicle seating 30 passengers, being 38-foot (12 m) long and weighing 17.5 tonnes (17.2 long tons; 19.3 short tons). It was renumbered 22105 in August 1926 and worked the service until increasing bus competition killed off the station (although freight services lasted until 1964). 22105 moved to Hull and was withdrawn in 1934. These two vehicles were predecessors of the many Diesel Multiple Units that proliferate on Britain's railways. The York to Scarborough line generally sees an hourly service operated by TransPennine Express services formed of Class 185 Diesel Multiple Unit trains. A number of steam specials use the line during the year.

The River Foss and Earswick is to the east. It is outside of the York Outer Ring Road (A1237) and near the New Earswick and Huntington areas of York, to the south. It shares a continuous built-up area with the village and parish of Wigginton to the west. Its name is of Old Norse origin with the personal name of Hákr's settlement, in Old Norse bý. It was recorded as Haxebi in the Domesday Book of 1086. Haxby Town Centre, known as "The Village", has been a Conservation Area since 1976. The town's charter was granted in 1992. The Yorkshire village of Haxby was administered by the North Riding County Council and Flaxton Rural District Council until 1974. From 1974 to 1996, Haxby became part of North Yorkshire County Council and Ryedale District Council. Since 1996 the town of Haxby has been part of the City of York, a unitary authority.

Rowntrees Football Club, later Rowntree Mackintosh F.C. and Nestlé Rowntree F.C., was an English association football club from York, North Yorkshire. The team as their name suggests were affiliated to Rowntree's, a confectioner which later merged into Rowntree Mackintosh Confectionery, in turn taken over by Nestlé. The club was founded during Joseph Rowntree's ownership of Rowntree's.

York Railway Institute is a sports club in York, North Yorkshire, founded in 1886. The club plays football, rugby, tennis, and hockey. It is most notable for its football team, which won the Northern Counties East Division One championship during the 1987–88 season.

Huntington Stadium (formerly Ryedale Stadium) is the former stadium of English rugby league teams York Wasps, and York City Knights.

York Community Stadium (known for sponsorship purposes as the LNER Community Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Huntington, York, England. It is owned by City of York Council, and is shared by York City Football Club and York City Knights Rugby League Football Club. The capacity of the all-seater stadium is 8,500. The move to a new stadium was necessitated by the terms of the loan York City secured from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund to purchase their Bootham Crescent ground. Planning permission for the current design, put forward by Greenwich Leisure, was granted in March 2015. After several delays, construction began in December 2017 and was completed in December 2020. In addition to the stadium, the site houses a leisure complex and a community hub. The opening match at the LNER Community Stadium saw York City take on AFC Fylde on 16 February 2021, which ended in a 3–1 victory for Fylde, with Alex Whitmore scoring the opening goal at the stadium. The stadium hosted both women's semi-finals of the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.
