Trench, Telford

Trench Crossing railway station was a station in Trench, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1854 and closed in 1964. The line was lifted following closure but was relaid in the late 2000s as a single track to serve the Telford International Freight Park at Donnington.

Telford International Railfreight Park (known as TIRFP) is rail freight depot and construction development site located in Donnington to the north of Telford, on the former route of the Stafford–Shrewsbury line. The terminal was opened in 2009.The development of TIRFP was initiated through a partnership between Telford and Wrekin Council, the Ministry of Defence, and the Homes and Communities Agency (then English Partnerships) in 2001. Located on the former Wellington to Stafford railway line of the Shropshire Union Railway, the 46 acres (0.19 km2) is located 2.5 miles (4.0 km) northeast of Wellington railway station and is connected to the (Network Rail) Wolverhampton–Shrewsbury line just to the east of that station. Located on the former MoD Donnington stores, it is adjacent to existing manufacturing and warehousing facilities in Hadley Park and Hortonwood Industrial Estates. Located off Hortonwood Roundabout on the A518, it closest motorway access is via Junction 5 of the M54.With development started in 2008, TIRFP was officially opened by Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, Theresa Villiers MP, on Wednesday, 10 June 2009. Owned by Telford and Wrekin Council, the site, when opened, was operated under lease by John G Russell Transport Ltd. In 2010 the sidings at the railfreight park have also been used to store redundant rolling stock, including Class 508 EMUs (taken to Telford using diesel locomotives), as the park is currently suffering from low freight usage. Wrockwardine Wood and Trench Parish Council approved the original planning application, forwarded to Telford and Wrekin Borough Council with only minor opposition. In 2012, John G Russell pulled out of running the terminal and DB Schenker Rail (UK) were appointed to take over control of the terminal. DB Schenker have been running the only regular service into and out of the terminal since it reopened (that of a once-a-week MoD train).Class 196 Diesel multiple units operated by West Midlands Railway were being stored here while awaiting service on their brakes which emit excess noise compared to other multiple units. Unused sections of the site have been utilised as long term van storage for hire firms. This has enabled the terminal to employ its first full-time worker. The vans arrived on site in March 2015 and DB Schenker Rail (UK) hope that incoming vehicles can be delivered via the rail connection.

The Wrekin is a constituency in the House of Commons of the British Parliament, located in the county of Shropshire in the West Midlands of England. It has existed continuously since its creation by the Representation of the People Act 1918, and is named after a prominent landmark hill in the area, The Wrekin. It has been represented by the Labour and Conservative parties since the 1920s, a post held since 2005 by Conservative MP Mark Pritchard.

Wombridge Priory was a small Augustinian monastery in Shropshire. Established in the early 12th century, it was supported by a network of minor nobility and was never a large community. Despite generally good financial management, it fell within the scope of the Suppression of Religious Houses Act 1535 and was dissolved in the following year.

Telford Priory School is a coeducational secondary school located in the Wrockwardine Wood area of Telford in Shropshire, England. The school opened in September 2015 in a new campus, following the merger of Wrockwardine Wood Arts Academy (formerly Wrockwardine Wood Secondary School) and Sutherland Co-operative Academy. The school is sponsored by the Community Academies Trust.The school facilities include full size 3G Astro with the leisure centre next door holding a 400m athletics track, sports hall, 2 netball courts, fitness suite, dance studio and is located next to an indoor tennis centre and 4 outdoor courts. Elina Pagett famously attended Wrockwardine Wood - the precursor to Telford Priory School.

Wrockwardine Wood (pronounced "Rock-war-dine") was originally a detached piece of woodland, then a township, formerly belonging to the manor and parish of Wrockwardine. Wrockwardine is located approximately 7 miles west from Wrockwardine Wood. Wrockwardine Wood is located in north east Telford in Shropshire and is bordered by Donnington, St Georges, Trench, The Nabb and Oakengates. The local government parish of Wrockwardine Wood and Trench comprises most of the Church of England parish of Wrockwardine Wood. In the eighteenth century industrial revolution Wrockwardine Wood was inhabited by coal and iron mine workers and their families. So many people had become Primitive Methodists that the Church of England set up a new parish in 1833 and built a very attractive red brick church (Holy Trinity). The 2 Methodist chapels recently closed, being replaced by Oakengates United Church (Methodist and United Reformed Church.)Wrockwardine Wood & Trench Parish Council has a Labour Party majority.

Telford Town Football Club is an English football club from Wellington, Shropshire but currently located in Telford. The club plays in the West Midlands (Regional) League Division One. After many years in the Wellington League, the team was promoted to the Shropshire County Football League. They were promoted to the West Midlands (Regional) League in 2006. "The Ams" won Division One three times in four seasons and gained promotion to the Premier Division for 2012–13. In 2024 the club was taken over by businessman and former Hednesford Town owner Hayden Dando and renamed Telford Town Football Club.

Oakengates is a constituent town of Telford and a civil parish in the borough of Telford and Wrekin, Shropshire, England. The towns parish population was recorded as 8,517 in the 2001 census.

New Hadley Halt was a minor station between Oakengates and Wellington on the former Great Western Railway's London Paddington to Birkenhead via Birmingham Snow Hill line. It was opened by the Great Western Railway in 1934. It was closed on 13 May 1985 due to uneconomic required repairs and it was demolished in 1986.

Oakengates Market Street railway station was a station in Oakengates, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1860 and closed in 1952. The station was demolished after closure and the site is now occupied by the A442.

Oakengates railway station serves the town of Oakengates, Telford and Wrekin, Shropshire, England. It has two platforms. Rail services are primarily provided by West Midlands Trains seven days a week with Transport for Wales providing a service on late evenings through the week, and a limited service on Sundays. Avanti West Coast do not currently call at Oakengates station. Between Oakengates and Telford Central is the Oakengates Tunnel.

Hadley is a village and part of Telford in the borough of Telford and Wrekin and the ceremonial county of Shropshire, England. Hadley is about 3 miles (5 km) north-west of Telford Town Centre, and is in the civil parish of Hadley and Leegomery (previously called simply "Hadley"). The population of the civil parish mentioned at the 2011 census was 14,166.It neighbours Wellington, a market town also part of Telford, and that town's two colleges of Telford College of Arts and Technology (TCAT) and New College (NC), all to the west of Hadley. Ketley is immediately to the south of Hadley.Hadley Learning Community, opened in 2006, is a coeducational all-through school for students from 5 – 16 years of age located in Hadley.Hadley's parish war memorial, to men of Hadley and district who died serving in the two World Wars, is an imitation of the Cenotaph in London's Whitehall. It stands in Manse Road near the Methodist Church.
