Zeuthener See

Schmöckwitz (pronounced [ˈʃmœkvɪts] (listen)) is a German locality (Ortsteil) within the Berlin borough (Bezirk) of Treptow-Köpenick. Until 2001 it was part of the former borough of Köpenick.

The Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau ('UAS Wildau' for short) is the largest of five universities of applied sciences in the federal state of Brandenburg, Germany. TH Wildau was founded as a technical university of applied sciences in 1991, but its connection to engineering education dates back further to the late 1940s. Today it sits on a modern and compact campus, with direct S-Bahn access to Germany's capital city, Berlin.

The Oder–Spree Canal (German: Oder-Spree-Kanal pronounced [ˌoːdɐˈʃpʁeː.kaˌnaːl] (listen)), is a canal in the east of Germany. It links the Dahme river, at Schmöckwitz in the south-eastern suburbs of Berlin, with the River Oder, at Eisenhüttenstadt. It provides an important commercial navigable connection between Berlin and the Oder, and hence Poland.The canal has several connections to the River Spree. For a stretch of about 20 kilometres (12 mi) near Fürstenwalde the canal utilises the river as part of its route, and there is a navigable connection to the river upstream of this section, although these reaches are relatively shallow and are generally only used by leisure craft. However the principal connection is via the River Dahme, which joins the River Spree at Köpenick, to the east of the centre of Berlin.

Müggelheim (German pronunciation: [ˈmʏɡl̩ˌhaɪ̯m] (listen)) is a German locality (Ortsteil) within the Berlin borough (Bezirk) of Treptow-Köpenick. Until 2001 it was part of the former borough of Köpenick.

Notte is a river of Brandenburg, Germany. It flows into the Dahme in Königs Wusterhausen.

The Langer See is a lake situated in the south-eastern outskirts of Berlin, the capital city of Germany. The lake is aligned south-east to north-west and forms part of the course of the River Dahme. The Langer See is approximately 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) long, with an average width of 221 metres (725 ft) and an area of 2.43 square kilometres (0.94 sq mi). The Dahme flows into the Langer See from the Zeuthener See, at the south-east end of the lake by the Berlin suburb of Schmöckwitz. It flows out to the north-west near Köpenick and its confluence with the River Spree. At Schmöckwitz the Langer See also mingles with the Seddinsee. Like the River Dahme, the Langer See is navigable. Besides traffic to the upstream reaches of the Dahme, the lake also carries traffic to the Oder-Spree Canal, which links with the Seddinsee and provides a commercial waterway link between Berlin and Poland.The Langer See is crossed by two of Berlin's passenger ferries that are operated by the BVG, the municipal transport operator. The F12 crosses from Müggelbergallee (in Köpenick) to Wassersportallee (in Grünau), and operates all year. The F21 crosses from Krampenburg via Große Krampe (both in Müggelheim) to Zum Seeblick (in Schmöckwitz), and operates only in summer.The regatta course on the Langer See at Grünau was used for the Olympic canoeing and rowing events at the 1936 Summer Olympics.

The Seddinsee is a lake in the south-eastern outskirts of Berlin, the capital city of Germany. The lake is aligned south-west to north-east, with its south-western end adjacent to the Berlin suburb of Schmöckwitz. Here the Seddinsee meets the Zeuthener See and Langer See, two lakes that form part of the course of the River Dahme. The Seddinsee is navigable. It has a length of about 2.9 kilometres (1.8 mi) and a width between 500 and 1,000 metres (1,600 and 3,300 ft). Several little islands are in the lake. Besides its natural connection to the River Dahme, the Oder-Spree Canal enters the lake on its eastern shore, whilst the Gosen Canal links the lake's northern end to the Dämeritzsee. Besides seeing considerable sightseeing and leisure traffic, the lake also forms a link in several commercial navigation routes, including the route from Berlin to Poland via the River Dahme and the Oder-Spree Canal.

The 1972 Königs Wusterhausen air disaster occurred on 14 August when an Interflug Ilyushin Il-62 crashed shortly after take-off from Berlin-Schönefeld Airport in Schönefeld, East Germany, on a holiday charter flight to Burgas, Bulgaria. The accident was caused by a fire in the aft cargo bay. All 156 passengers and crew died. To date, it is the deadliest aviation accident in Germany.
