Lome, Idrija

Predgriže (pronounced [pɾɛdˈɡɾiːʒɛ]; German: Predgrische) is a settlement northeast of Črni Vrh in the Municipality of Idrija in the traditional Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. The village includes the hamlets of Gornje Griže (German: Oberpredgrische), Klavžar, Nagode, Na Vrhu, Smrekar, Spodnje Griže (German: Unterpredgrische), and Žgavec.

Javornik (pronounced [ˈjaːʋɔɾnik]) is a small dispersed settlement on the slopes of Javornik Hill south of Črni Vrh in the Municipality of Idrija in the traditional Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. Its remoteness and high elevation have resulted in people moving away from their farms, and there is only a single resident in the settlement.

The Črni Vrh Observatory (Slovene: Observatorij Črni Vrh, IAU code: 106) is an astronomical observatory located in western Slovenia, close to the settlement of Črni Vrh, near the town of Idrija.

Črni Vrh (pronounced [ˈtʃəɾni ˈʋəɾx]; sometimes Črni Vrh nad Idrijo, German: Schwarzenberg) is a settlement in the hills south of Idrija in the traditional Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. It includes the hamlets of Zgornja Vas (Slovene: Zgornja vas), Spodnja Vas (Spodnja vas), Trate, Trebče, and Zidiše.

Kanji Dol (pronounced [ˈkaːnji ˈdoːu̯]; German: Kanidol) is a dispersed settlement in the hills south of Črni Vrh in the Municipality of Idrija in the traditional Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. The settlement no longer had any permanent residents according to the 2002 census, but it has been repopulated in recent years.

Carniola (Slovene: Kranjska; Slovene pronunciation: [ˈkɾàːnska], German: Krain; Italian: Carniola; Hungarian: Krajna) is a historical region that comprised parts of present-day Slovenia. Although as a whole it does not exist anymore, Slovenes living within the former borders of the region still tend to identify with its traditional parts Upper Carniola, Lower Carniola (with the sub-part of White Carniola), and to a lesser degree with Inner Carniola. In 1991, 47% of the population of Slovenia lived within the borders of the former Duchy of Carniola.

Vodice (pronounced [ʋɔˈdiːtsɛ]) is a small dispersed settlement in the hills east of Col in the Municipality of Ajdovščina in the Littoral region of Slovenia.

The Godovič Pass is a mountain pass in Slovenia's traditional Inner Carniola region between Ajdovščina and Črni Vrh. It connects the Slovenian Prealps with the Dinaric Alps and conventionally represents the southeastern end of the Alps, as the Bocchetta di Altare represents the opposite end of the range.

Strmec (pronounced [ˈstəɾməts], in older sources also Strmica, German: Stermza) is a small dispersed settlement in the hills south of Črni Vrh in the Municipality of Idrija in the traditional Inner Carniola region of Slovenia.Strmec belongs to the cadastral municipality of Kanji Dol. Strmec has 12 numbered houses with traditional oeconyms: pri Šemrl (or Vodnar; no. 1), Tič (no. 2), Cenck (no. 3), Medved (no. 4), Podobnik (no. 5), Peter (no. 6), Skokec (no. 7), Štorc (no. 8), Skalar (no. 9), Renk (no. 10), Zajc (no. 11), and Strmec (no. 12). The Skalar house is now in ruins and it is no longer officially numbered. It was assigned number 8 c. 1823, but was reassigned the number 9 in 1959.

Podkraj (pronounced [ˈpoːtkɾai̯]) is a village southeast of Col in the Municipality of Ajdovščina in the Littoral region of Slovenia. It also includes smaller clusters of the hamlets of Trševje, Sreboti, and Hrušica (German: Birnbaum) as well as a number of isolated farmsteads along the road from Col to Kalce.The Ad Pirum archaeological site is located in the hamlet of Hrušica.

Hotedršica (pronounced [xɔˈteːdəɾʃitsa], in older sources Hotedražica, German: Hotederschitz) is a village west of Logatec in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia.

Claustra Alpium Iuliarum (Latin for 'Barrier of the Julian Alps'; hereby, the term Julian Alps refers to the wider mountainous and hilly region from the Julian Alps to the Kvarner Gulf) was a defense system within the Roman Empire between Italia and Pannonia that protected Italy from possible invasions from the East. It secured the Postojna Gate, the land link between the eastern and western part of the empire, and thus the Claustra represented an inner border defense of the empire. Unlike a linear rampart, the Claustra consisted of a series of interconnected fortifications with its center at Castra ad Fluvium Frigidum (in the area of today's town of Ajdovščina, the Vipava Valley); other important fortresses were Ad Pirum on today's Hrušica Plateau and Tarsatica, now a part of the city of Rijeka. They had been governed from the town of Aquileia.
