Upstairs at The Gatehouse is an Off West End theatre in Highgate in the London Borough of Camden. The venue is a refurbished 1895 auditorium, upstairs from the Gatehouse pub, which has served over the years as a music hall, cinema, Masonic lodge, and a jazz and folk music club that once hosted a performance by Paul Simon. Today, the venue hosts theatrical and cabaret productions. It has presented a mix of off-beat and mainstream shows, including an all-female version of Hamlet, modernistic interpretation of opera classics and new musicals and dramas.Upstairs at the Gatehouse was created by Ovation Theatres Limited (directors John and Katie Plews). The company has owned the theatre since 1997. The Gatehouse pub is owned and operated by Urban Pubs.Ovation Productions presents a Winter Musical each year at Upstairs at The Gatehouse. In December–January 2017-18 they staged a sellout run of Top Hat which won best choreography in the 2018 Offies Awards. This was followed in December–January 2018-19 by Nice Work If You Can Get It, which was nominated for best Director, Choreography and Musical Director in the 2019 Offies Awards. In 2019-20 they presented a sell out run of 42nd Street which received 5 star reviews from Camden New Journal.TimeOut described it in 2010 as "one of London's most reliable fringe musical theatre venues".

The Gatehouse is a public house in Highgate, London, located at a road junction where Highgate High Street, West Hill, North Hill and Hampstead Lane converge close to Pond Square. It stands on the site of the oldest recorded structure in Highgate Village. A toll road was constructed in the early fourteenth century and an arched gateway was constructed under which all passing had to pay. This gave its name to the area. It was one of five taverns recorded in Highgate in 1552 It became associated with the tradition of Swearing on the Horns for travellers passing through when it was one of the principal approach roads leading to London. However, business suffered with the construction of Archway Road by Thomas Telford and John Nash's Archway Bridge across it in 1813 which meant that much of the traffic now bypassed Highgate. It was subsequently rebuilt in mock Tudor style. From 1993 to 2015 it was part of the Wetherspoons chain. It features a theatre above the pub known as Upstairs at the Gatehouse.

The Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution (HLSI) is an unincorporated society with trustees having charitable status under the Friendly Societies Act. Founded in 1839 in Highgate, north London, with the aim of helping local people to better understand new developments in industry and discoveries in science, it is now one the few surviving membership supported organisations which predate the widespread establishment of public libraries in the United Kingdom. Today its charitable purpose, from its historic building, is to offer opportunities for life-long learning through its courses, library, archives, art gallery, lectures, debates, cultural and social events.

Highgate High Street is located in Highgate in London. A high street, it provides the main shopping thoroughfare for the settlement at the top of Highgate Hill. It runs downhill from the western end and forms of the longer B519 that includes Highgate Hill towards Archway. At its western end is a crossroads by The Gatehouse pub where it meets Hampstead Lane, Highgate West Hill and North Road. Pond Square, the village green of Highgate, is located nearby. Other roads running off the High Street include Southwood Lane and South Grove. The High Street forms the border between the London Borough of Camden to the south and Haringey to the north, reflecting the historic parish boundaries between Hornsey and St Pancras. Highgate developed as a hamlet in the early fourteenth century by the arched gateway on a north–south toll road that gave the settlement its name. The high street didn't take on its recognisable, current layout until the Tudor era. By the Georgian era it had grown into a small town. Most of the present buildings date from the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. It features several pubs including The Gatehouse, the Prince of Wales and The Angel Inn. This is part of its legacy as an old coaching town before the settlement was bypassed by the new Archway Road in the 1810s. A number of the buildings are now listed.

The Grove, Highgate, N6 is a short tree-lined street in north London, running north from Highgate West Hill to Hampstead Lane, known for the notable residents who have lived there over several centuries.

The Flask is a Grade II listed public house at 74–76 Highgate West Hill, Highgate, London. According to the 1936 Survey of London, a pub known as The Flask has stood on this spot since "at least as early as 1663". The present buildings probably date from the early 18th century, and were partially rebuilt in about 1767 by William Carpenter. A Manorial court met there in the eighteenth century. The Flask is currently owned and operated by the London-based Fuller's.

St Michael's Church or Church of St Michael, commonly referred to as St Michael's Highgate, is an Anglican parish church in Highgate, North London and a Grade II* listed building. It is the highest elevated church in London.

5, The Grove is a semi-detached house in Highgate, London. It is listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England.Originally built around 1688, it was rebuilt around 1933 by C. H. James, yet retained its general appearance. The house consists of 3 storeys with a basement, built in red brick. The interior has been substantially altered since it was built. During James's remodeling of the house in the 1930s, several examples of early 18th-century wallpapers were found hidden behind wooden paneling, which were subsequently donated to the Victoria and Albert Museum. Wooden railings surround the front of the house, and a lantern surmounts the front entrance. Prior to his death in 2016, George Michael was the sole tenant of this building.

3, The Grove, Highgate, in the London Borough of Camden, is a 17th-century house built by William Blake. In the 19th century it was home of the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge; in the 20th, the novelist J. B. Priestley; and in the 21st, the model Kate Moss. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Highpoint I was the first of two apartment blocks erected in the 1930s on one of the highest points in London, England, in Highgate. The architectural design was by the Georgian-British architect Berthold Lubetkin, the structural design by the Anglo-Danish engineer Ove Arup and the construction by Kier.Highpoint I was built in 1935 for the entrepreneur Sigmund Gestetner, but was never used for its intended purpose of housing Gestetner company staff. One of the best examples of early International style architecture in London, this block of 64 flats was very innovative in its day. When the building was completed, it became widely renowned as the finest example of this form of construction for residential purposes. When Corbusier himself visited Highpoint in 1935 he said, "This beautiful building .... at Highgate is an achievement of the first rank." And the American critic Henry Russell Hitchcock called it, "One of the finest, if not absolutely the finest, middle-class housing projects in the world." In 1970 this reputation gained official recognition when both Highpoint blocks were classified Grade I within the historic buildings listing programme.The second Lubetkin building in the same style, Highpoint II, was completed on an adjoining site in 1938. This is also a Grade I Listed Building.The gardens at Highpoint contain a swimming pool and two tennis courts. Architectural historian Dan Cruickshank selected Highpoint as one of his eight choices for the 2002 BBC book The Story of Britain's Best Buildings.

Charles Alfred Cruft (28 June 1852 – 10 September 1938) was a British showman who founded the Crufts dog show. Charles first became involved with dogs when he began to work at Spratt's, a manufacturer of dog biscuits. He rose to the position of general manager, and whilst working for Spratt's in France he was invited to run his first dog show at the 1878 Exposition Universelle. After running dog shows in London for four years, he ran his first Cruft's dog show in 1891, and continued to run a further 45 shows until his death in 1938, as well as running two cat shows in 1894 and 1895. He was involved in a range of dog breed clubs, including that for Schipperkes, Pugs and Borzois. He and his wife upheld a story that they never owned a dog, and instead owned a cat, however Cruft admitted to owning at least one Saint Bernard in his memoirs, published posthumously.

Witanhurst is a large Grade II listed 1930s Georgian Revival mansion located on 5 acres (2.0 ha) in Highgate, north London. The house has had several prominent owners since being rebuilt by the soap magnate Sir Arthur Crosfield, and after several decades of increasing dilapidation it underwent substantial refurbishment after its 2008 sale to an offshore company owned by the family of the Russian businessman Andrey Guryev.
