Sjursøya

The Sjursøya train accident was a railway accident that occurred on 24 March 2010 at around 13:15 local time, when a set of 16 freight cars began to roll uncontrollably during shunting on Alnabru, north in Oslo. The train dispatcher central chose to lead the runaway train in the direction of Sjursøya, along the Loenga–Alnabru Line, where it derailed and rolled through a Statoil building in the terminal area at Sjursøya, a peninsula which is part of the Oslo ports facilities. The line leading to the container and petroleum port at Sjursøya is a branch of Østfold Line, and is only used at low speeds. However, the empty carriages crashed into the harbour terminal at an estimated speed of more than 100 km/h (62 mph). At the most, the set of wagons had a speed of 90–140 km/h.According to police reports, three people were killed in the accident while four people were injured. Of these four, three were severely hurt and the fourth person received minor injuries. According to TV 2 Nyhetskanalen, the condition of three of the injured persons was critical.

Ekebergparken (Formerly: Sjømannsskolen) is a light rail station on the Ekeberg Line of the Oslo Tramway. It is located near Sjømannsskolen (the Seamen School) in Ekeberg and Ekebergparken Sculpture Park nearby. The station is located in the borough of Nordstrand, in Oslo, Norway. The station opened on 11 June 1917 as part of the Ekeberg Line to Sæter. The station is served by lines 18 and 19, using both SL79 and SL95 trams.

Grønlia is a neighborhood in the Oslo borough of Gamle Oslo. It is located below Ekebergåsen, along the Oslofjord, south of Sørenga and north of Kongshavn. The area is dominated by the Port of Oslo and railway tracks. As part of the Fjord City urban renewal program, the area will become a residential area.

Ormøya is an inhabited island in the inner part of Oslofjord, in the municipality of Oslo. It is located north of the island Malmøya and west of the mainland at Bekkelaget / Nordstrand. A bridge over the strait Ormsundet connects the island to the mainland. The island covers an area of 0.18 square kilometres (0.069 sq mi) Ormøy Church, designed by architect Bernhard Steckmest, was built in the 1890s. On the island there are beaches, boating ports and a small park. Ormøya belonged to Aker kommune before Aker was incorporated in Oslo in 1948.: 137 

Akerselva or Akerselven (English: Aker River) is a river which flows through Oslo. It starts at Maridalsvannet in Oslomarka, and traverses the boroughs of Nordre Aker, Sagene, Grünerløkka, central Oslo and Grønland, whereby it finally ends at Paulsenkaien and Oset in Bjørvika. The river is considered to be a part of the Nordmarkvassdraget, and has the Norwegian watercourse number 006.Z. The entire river is about 8.2 kilometres (5.1 mi) long, and has a difference in elevation between source and mouth of approximately 149 metres (489 ft). In the past, the river was utilized as a source of energy for local industry, and along the river there are many old industrial buildings. In the 1970s, the river was heavily contaminated after 150 years of industrial and sewage discharge. In the 1980s, a local initiative to limit emissions and revive the flora and fauna of the river began.Akerselva has largely been rehabilitated is now "Oslo’s green lung" and along the bank of the entire river from Grønland to Maridalsvannet there are park areas. Salmon run and spawn in the upper part of the river. Early in March 2011, Oslo's water and wastewater department accidentally discharged 6,000 litres (1,600 US gal) of chlorine into the river near its headwaters, rendering the river virtually dead as of 11 March 2011. According to Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, the discharge occurred at the water treatment plant Oset.

Jomfrubråten is a residential area of Nordstrand in Oslo, Norway. It is located approximately 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) away from the city centre. The area was disintegrated from Ekeberg in 1920, and made a residential area when the Ekeberg Line opened in 1917. A station with the same name serves the area on the Ekeberg Line, and formerly on the Simensbråten Line, but the latter line was closed in 1967.

Ekebergrestauranten is a restaurant and banquet facility in a hillside overlooking downtown Oslo, Norway. Ekebergparken Sculpture Park is the nearest neighbor. The restaurant has been owned by Christian Ringnes since 2005. The Functionalist building was first completed in 1929, drawn by architect Lars Backer. The restaurant has flat roofs, large windows, a terrace and an arched entrance in a corner tower. The architect maximized the number of window seats.The building was once one of the city's most popular dancing restaurants, but in the 1980s the building decayed and was closed in 1997. The restaurant has since undergone an extensive restoration and reopened in March 2005. The interior of the new Ekebergrestauranten was designed by Thomas Ness.The à la carte restaurant on the ground floor serves a seasonal menu of food made from fresh ingredients. There is a banquet hall on the second floor with room for 170 people for dinner and two rooms suitable for smaller events. The terrace has about 300 chairs in the summer months. The menu includes vegetarian, meat and traditional Norwegian fish dishes.Ekebergrestauranten is listed by the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage and protected by law.

Ekebergparken Sculpture Park is a sculpture park and a national heritage park close to Ekebergrestauranten with a panoramic view of the city at Ekeberg in the southeast of the city of Oslo, Norway.The Sculpture Park has been initiated and financed by property director and art collector Christian Ringnes (born 1954). The park is located in a wooded area of 25.5 acres, and was inaugurated 26 September 2013.A total of 31 sculptures were installed when the opening ceremony took place in 2013, many of them with women as subjects. The park is owned by the City of Oslo and sculptures owned by the Christian Ringnes instituted foundation, C Ludens Ringnes Foundation. It was fully established in February 2015, including accrued trails, water surface and at least 25 sculptures deployed. The capital of NOK 350 million was set aside at the time to cover purchases of additional sculptures, up to a total of eighty, and the operation of the park for at least 50 years.

Ormøy Church is a church on the island of Ormøya in Oslo, Norway. It was built of wood in 1893 and has 200 seats. The church is listed by the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage. The architectural drawings was made by the German architect Bernhard Steckmest and built in a log technique, characterized by gothic and Swiss chalet style. The outer walls are painted red, while the interior is stained brown and oiled. The pictures of the Four Evangelists are recessed in the pulpit and was painted by Trygve Torkildsen. The small church organ was made in 1924. On the night of September 19, 1992, the church was set on fire, but a quick reaction from a watchman prevented the church from burning down.

Sørengautstikkeren is a neighborhood in the borough Gamle Oslo in Oslo, Norway. It is an artificial peninsula that sticks out into the Oslofjord form Bjørvika and Sørenga. It is part of the Port of Oslo, but will be redeveloped as part of the Fjord City urban redevelopment program, after the Bjørvika Tunnel is completed in 2010, and the European Route E18 will run under the area. Until then, it is used as a container port, a quay for cruiseships and as a storage area for earth and bulk. The quay is 880 metres (2,890 ft) long.The redevelopment is organized by Sørenga Utvikling and HAV Eiendom, a subsidiary of the Port of Oslo. The area was sold from the port to Sørenga Utvikling for 940 million kr. Sørenga Utvikling is owned by Backe Prosjekt, USBL, Oslo Areal and financial investors. Four architect companies, LPO arkitekter, Jarmund/Vigsnæs, Arkitektselskapet Kari Nissen Brodtkorb and MAD, will each receive two blocks to design. Forty-seven companies had offered bids in the contest. The four companies will cooperate to create a common identify for the buildings. Construction will start in 2009, and will be completed by 2011 or 2012. The area is planned to feature 950 new apartments, plus some commercial areas, including some stores. The Sørenga area will have 100,000 square metres (1,100,000 sq ft) of buildings. The apartments will be among the most expensive in the country, as they are located within walking distance of the city core.

Jomfrubråten is a light rail tram stop on the Ekeberg Line of the Oslo Tramway. It is located near Jomfrubråten in Ekeberg, in the borough of Nordstrand, in Oslo, Norway. The station opened on 11 June 1917 as part of the Ekeberg Line to Sæter. The station is served by lines 13 and 19, using both SL79 and SL95 trams. From 30 September 1931 to 29 October 1967, the Simensbråten Line split from the Ekeberg Line after Jomfrubråten. The next station along the Simensbråten Line was the old Ekebergparken.

Oslo Port Authority (Norwegian: Oslo Havn KF) is a kommunalt foretak (municipal enterprise), and accountable to the Municipality of Oslo. For many years, Oslo Havn KF was known as Oslo havnevesen (OHV) but was renamed on June 8, 2004, to its current name. As of 2021, the enterprise has around 100 employees and is managed by an elected board, Havnestyret and a Port Director, havnedirektøren. The organisation as a whole is divided into five branches: market, communication and environment, administration, finance and IT, real estate and urban development. Oslo Havn KF's principal objectives are to ensure an effective and sustainable enterprise at the Port of Oslo by facilitating green and efficient maritime transport. Apart from the daily management of the port, it is also Oslo Havn KF's task to monitor the traffic in and out of the port and manage the port's estates in a responsible and sustainable manner.
