Kamno, Tolmin

The Battle of Caporetto (also known as the Twelfth Battle of the Isonzo, the Battle of Kobarid or the Battle of Karfreit) was a battle on the Italian front of World War I. The battle was fought between the Kingdom of Italy and the Central Powers and took place from 24th of October to 19th of November 1917, near the town of Kobarid (now in north-western Slovenia, then part of the Austrian Littoral), also was near the river Isonzo. The battle was named after the Italian name of the town (also known as Karfreit in German). Austro-Hungarian forces, reinforced by German units, were able to break into the Italian front line and rout the Italian forces opposing them. The battle was a demonstration of the effectiveness of the use of stormtroopers and the infiltration tactics developed in part by Oskar von Hutier. The use of poison gas by the Germans also played a key role in the collapse of the Italian Second Army.The rest of the Italian Army retreated 150 kilometres (93 mi) to the Piave River, its effective strength declined from 1,800,000 troops down to 1,000,000 and the government of Prime Minister Paolo Boselli collapsed.

Vrsno (pronounced [ˈʋəɾsnɔ]; Italian: Ursina) is a small village in the Municipality of Kobarid in the Littoral region of Slovenia. Vrsno is best known as the birthplace of the poet Simon Gregorčič. Since 1966, Gregorčič's home has housed a small ethnographic museum with some exhibits from the poet's life. The museum also showcases the poet's artistic work, displays a timeline of historic events that occurred in his lifetime, and presents his relatives and notable contemporaries.

Selce (pronounced [ˈseːltsɛ]) is a small village northeast of Kamno in the Municipality of Tolmin in the Littoral region of Slovenia.

Drenchia is located on the western slopes of the Kolovrat Range, dividing Italy from Slovenia, and borders the following municipalities: Grimacco, Kanal ob Soči (Slovenia), Kobarid (Slovenia), and Tolmin (Slovenia). The municipal hall is located in Cras. As of 31 December 2010, it had a population of 141 and an area of 13.8 square kilometres (5.3 sq mi).

Volarje (pronounced [ˈʋoːlaɾjɛ]; Italian: Vollaria) is a village on the left bank of the Soča River in the Municipality of Tolmin in the Littoral region of Slovenia.The local church, built outside the settlement on the road towards Selišče, is dedicated to Saint Bricius and belongs to the Parish of Tolmin.

Koseč (pronounced [kɔˈsɛtʃ]; Italian: Cossis) is a small settlement above Drežnica in the Municipality of Kobarid in the Littoral region of Slovenia. A small church in the settlement dedicated to Saint Justus dates to the second half of the 14th century, making it one of the oldest surviving churches in the Soča area. It is built of travertine and its interior is covered in frescos from the late 15th century.
