Monte San Martino, also known as Svet Martin in Slovene, is a mountain of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, with an elevation of 987 metres (3,238 ft). It is located in the Julian Prealps, in the Province of Udine. It lies in the territory of the Grimacco, between the Cosizza and Alberone valleys, next to the Priavelo pass (663 m), from which its peak can be reached through a dirt road or a hiking path. A small Romanesque church dedicated to Saint Martin (San Martino), dating to the 13th century, is located just below the summit, while a small mountain hut (Baita CAI Val Natisone) was built in 2016 on its slopes, near Priavelo pass. In April 1848, during the First Italian War of Independence, volunteers of the Republic of San Marco took control of the mountain and exploited its commanding position to halt the advance of Austrian troops heading towards Udine. They laid down their arms after the fall of Udine rendered their resistance pointless. A traditional festival of the local Slovene minority is held at the church of San Martino every year, on the third Sunday of September.

Kamno (pronounced [ˈkaːmnɔ]) is a village on the left bank of the Soča River in the Municipality of Tolmin in the Littoral region of Slovenia.The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and belongs to the Diocese of Koper.

Drenchia (Slovene: Dreka; Friulian: Drencje) is a comune (municipality) in the Regional decentralization entity of Udine in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) north of Trieste and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northeast of Udine, on the border with Slovenia. Drenchia is located on the western slopes of the Kolovrat Range, dividing Italy from Slovenia, and borders the following municipalities: Grimacco, Kanal ob Soči (Slovenia), Kobarid (Slovenia), and Tolmin (Slovenia). Drenchia localities include Clabuzzaro/Brieg, Crai/Kraj, Cras/Kras, Drenchia inferiore/Dolenja Dreka, Drenchia Superiore/Gorenja Dreka, Lase/Laze, Malinsche/Malinske, Obenetto/Dubenije, Obranche/Obranke, Oznebrida/Ocnebardo, Paciuch/Pačuh, Peternel/Peternel, Prapotnizza/Praponca, San Volfango/Svet Štuoblank, Trinco/Trinko, Trusgne/Trušnje, Zavart/Zavart, Zuodar/Cuoder. The municipal hall is located in Cras. As of 31 December 2010, it had a population of 141 and an area of 13.8 square kilometres (5.3 sq mi).

The Battle of Caporetto (also known as the Twelfth Battle of the Isonzo, the Battle of Kobarid or the Battle of Karfreit) was a battle on the Italian front of World War I. The battle was fought between the Kingdom of Italy and the Central Powers and took place from 24th of October to 19th of November 1917, near the town of Kobarid (now in north-western Slovenia, then part of the Austrian Littoral), also was near the river Isonzo. The battle was named after the Italian name of the town (also known as Karfreit in German). Austro-Hungarian forces, reinforced by German units, were able to break into the Italian front line and rout the Italian forces opposing them. The battle was a demonstration of the effectiveness of the use of stormtroopers and the infiltration tactics developed in part by Oskar von Hutier. The use of poison gas by the Germans also played a key role in the collapse of the Italian Second Army.The rest of the Italian Army retreated 150 kilometres (93 mi) to the Piave River, its effective strength declined from 1,800,000 troops down to 1,000,000 and the government of Prime Minister Paolo Boselli collapsed.

The museum also showcases the poet's artistic work, displays a timeline of historic events that occurred in his lifetime, and presents his relatives and notable contemporaries.

Mlinsko (pronounced [ˈmliːnskɔ]) is a small settlement on the right bank of the Soča River just outside Kobarid in the Littoral region of Slovenia.

Kolovrat (Friulian: Colorât, Italian: Colovrat) is a mountain ridge of the Julian Prealps on the border between Slovenia and Italy, west of Tolmin and southeast of Kobarid. It is a geographical border between the Soča Valley in Slovenia and the Venetian Slovenia region of Italy. It extends about 7 km at an elevation between 800 and 1150 m. There are two roads on the ridge, one from the Italian side, accessible from Drenchia, and one from the Slovenian side, accessible from the villages of Livek and Volče. Between the 15th and late 18th centuries, the Kolovrat Ridge used to be the border between the Habsburg monarchy and the Venetian Republic. Between 1866 and 1918, the border between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Italy also ran along the same line. Between 1947 and 1991, it was the border between Italy and Yugoslavia. In 1917, it was an important site in the Battle of Caporetto.
