The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) is a provider of tertiary education in Hong Kong. Located near the north coast of Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island, the main campus also functions as a venue for performances. Apart from the main campus in Wan Chai, Bethanie, the site of the institution's Landmark Heritage Campus in Pok Fu Lam, has housed the School of Film and Television since 2007. The academy provides practice-based and professional diploma, advanced diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Chinese opera, dance, drama, film and television, music, and theatre and entertainment arts. Its educational policy reflects the cultural diversity of Hong Kong with an emphasis on Chinese and Western traditions and interdisciplinary learning. The Academy ranks 1st in Asia for four consecutive years and 10th in the world for two consecutive years in 2022 QS World University Rankings by Subject (Performing Arts). Every year, the academy enrols approximately 750 students for its full-time programmes and around 770 students for its Junior Music Programme and Gifted Young Dancer Programme. Furthermore, its extensive EXCEL (Extension and Continuing Education for Life) programme offers part-time personal enrichment courses and in-service professional training to nearly 8,000 students each year.

CITIC Tower (Chinese: 中信大廈) is a 33-storey office building on Tim Mei Avenue, Admiralty, Hong Kong. It is the corporate headquarters of CITIC Pacific Ltd, a conglomerate publicly traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and listed on the Hang Seng Index, and also a subsidiary of the CITIC Group. CITIC Tower is also the headquarters of another development partner, Kerry Group. It is one of the participants in the nightly A Symphony of Lights (幻彩詠香江) light show on both sides of Victoria Harbour. In an authorised protest in 2019, police surrounded the tower on both sides, trapping protesters and fired tear gas into the crowd of protesters. International experts called the use of tear gas excessive, "actually inciting and causing what looks like a stampede".

Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC; Chinese: 香港藝術中心) is a non-profit arts institution and art museum established in 1977. It promotes contemporary performing arts, visual arts, film and video arts. It also provides arts education. Its rival is the government-managed Hong Kong Museum of Art. These two museums are considered to be the top two art museums in Hong Kong that dictate the discourse of art in Hong Kong.The centre comprises presentation spaces and venues including galleries, theatres, a cinema, classrooms, studios, restaurant and offices. It also includes sculpture, photography, ceramics, illustrations, and sound and visual installations.

Arsenal Street (Chinese: 軍器廠街) is a north–south running street in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. It marks the division between Admiralty and Wan Chai. It is named after the Old Arsenal at Wan Chai. It is now home to the Hong Kong Police Headquarters to its west side.

Seamen's Institute (Chinese: 海員訓練學校) was an institute training seamen in Hong Kong located at 8, Praya East which is now the Harcourt Building at Gloucester Road, Wan Chai. In the early days of Hong Kong Scouting, the Boy Scouts Association, Hong Kong Branch conducted non-regular activities in the institute. The Colony Commissioner, the Reverend George Turner Waldegrave, of the branch was the chaplain in charge of the Seamen's Institute.

Harcourt House (Chinese: 夏愨大廈), located on Gloucester Road in the Wan Chai area of Hong Kong, is a 27 floor Grade A commercial office building. It lies between Admiralty and Wan Chai MTR stations opposite the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. The building won the Hong Kong Institute of Architects Architectural Design Award. It was built by Hongkong Land in December 1987 who retained ownership until it was sold to Chinese Estates Holdings in 1996. Major tenants include the Hong Kong Law Reform Commission Secretariat on the 20th floor.

The Hong Kong Police Headquarters (Chinese: 香港警察總部) or HKPHQ are located at 1 Arsenal Street, Wan Chai, on Hong Kong Island. It is the headquarters of the Hong Kong Police Force. The headquarters complex comprises several buildings, including Arsenal House (including main building, East and West Wing) and Caine House. As at December 2010, 5,202 police officers and 2,032 civilian officers are deployed in this headquarters.

Tim Mei Avenue (Chinese: 添美道; Jyutping: tim1 mei5 dou6; pinyin: Tiānměi Dào) is a street in Admiralty, Hong Kong. The street is built on land reclaimed as part of the Central Reclamation Phase II, which was completed in 1997 and reclaimed 5.3 hectares of land at the former Tamar naval base. The area was subsequently known as the Tamar site. Tim Mei Avenue connects Harcourt Road and Lung Wo Road (龍和道). Buildings along the street include CITIC Tower and the Central Government Complex.

On 1 July 2019, anti-government activists in Hong Kong sieged, broke into, and subsequently occupied the Legislative Council Complex during the campaign to halt the enactment of the Fugitive Offenders amendment bill. Hundreds of protesters broke through the glass walls and metal doors and entered the building, ransacked and vandalised the interior with anti-government and anti-PRC slogans. It is considered a watershed event in the 2019–2020 Hong Kong protests. Nine days later, on 9 July, the Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, announced that the extradition bill was "dead".

The Industrial and Commercial Daily Press Limited was the editor and publisher of the three newspapers in British Hong Kong, The Kung Sheung Daily News (Chinese: 工商日報; lit. 'Industrial and Commercial Daily News'), The Kung Sheung Evening News (Chinese: 工商晚報; lit. 'Industrial and Commercial Evening News') and The Tien Kwong Morning News (Chinese: 天光報; lit. 'Dawn News'). The company also wrote and published some special report, fiction and non-fiction. The limited company was incorporated in 1928 and was winding up in 1996. The predecessor of the company was founded circa the same year with the daily newspaper in 1925. The company was located in Gage Street, and then on 43 Des Voeux Road Central, and then on 18 Fenwick Street, Wan Chai,: 310  all on Hong Kong Island.

The East Wing Forecourt of the Central Government Office, or Civic Square, is an open space in front of the East Wing of the Central Government Complex, Hong Kong, which is located in Tamar. It was once an area where protesters took part in protests and demonstrations. It was closed in July 2014, and reopened on 10 September 2014. For many, it represents democracy and freedom, and a place to express their discontent. It was occupied for a rally opposing the moral and national education school curriculum proposal in August 2012, and during the 2014 Hong Kong protests (Umbrella Revolution) in September 2014. Since then, the square is closed by the government in order to prevent protests.

The University Grants Committee (UGC) of Hong Kong is a non-statutory advisory committee responsible for counselling the Government of Hong Kong on the financing and expansion needs of its subsidised higher education institutions. Appointed by the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, its members consist of local and overseas academics, university administrators and community leaders.
