Harcourt House (Hong Kong)

Seamen's Institute (Chinese: 海員訓練學校) was an institute training seamen in Hong Kong located at 8, Praya East which is now the Harcourt Building at Gloucester Road, Wan Chai. In the early days of Hong Kong Scouting, the Boy Scouts Association, Hong Kong Branch conducted non-regular activities in the institute. The Colony Commissioner, the Reverend George Turner Waldegrave, of the branch was the chaplain in charge of the Seamen's Institute.

The Industrial and Commercial Daily Press Limited was the editor and publisher of the three newspapers in British Hong Kong, The Kung Sheung Daily News (Chinese: 工商日報; lit. 'Industrial and Commercial Daily News'), The Kung Sheung Evening News (Chinese: 工商晚報; lit. 'Industrial and Commercial Evening News') and The Tien Kwong Morning News (Chinese: 天光報; lit. 'Dawn News'). The company also wrote and published some special report, fiction and non-fiction. The limited company was incorporated in 1928 and was winding up in 1996. The predecessor of the company was founded circa the same year with the daily newspaper in 1925. The company was located in Gage Street, and then on 43 Des Voeux Road Central, and then on 18 Fenwick Street, Wan Chai,: 310  all on Hong Kong Island.

Fenwick Street (Chinese: 分域街) is a street in Wan Chai, Hong Kong with a length of about 450 metres. It starts from Johnston Road and ends at the junction of Fenwick Pier Street and Harbour Road. Fenwick Street is cut into two pieces by Gloucester Road, impassable for cars. Pedestrians can take an elevated walkway to cross.

Arsenal Street (Chinese: 軍器廠街) is a north–south running street in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. It marks the division between Admiralty and Wan Chai. It is named after the Old Arsenal at Wan Chai. It is now home to the Hong Kong Police Headquarters to its west side.

The Consulate General of Sweden, Hong Kong is the diplomatic mission of Sweden in Hong Kong. The Consulate General of Sweden in Hong Kong and Macau, established in 1968, plays a vital role in fostering relations between Sweden and the region, focusing on political, economic, and cultural ties. It actively promotes Swedish interests, including marketing products, attracting investments, and fostering educational exchanges. Furthermore, it monitors and reports on political and economic developments in Hong Kong and Macau to Swedish authorities. Additionally, the consulate provides consular services to Swedish citizens, offering support and assistance in various situations. Before 1997, the consulate covered British Hong Kong, and since then, it includes the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau. The consulate's history dates back to 1853 when it was established as an honorary consulate, evolving into a career consulate in 1954 and later elevated to a consulate general in 1968.

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) is a provider of tertiary education in Hong Kong. Located near the north coast of Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island, the main campus also functions as a venue for performances. Apart from the main campus in Wan Chai, Bethanie, the site of the institution's Landmark Heritage Campus in Pok Fu Lam, has housed the School of Film and Television since 2007. The academy provides practice-based and professional diploma, advanced diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Chinese opera, dance, drama, film and television, music, and theatre and entertainment arts. Its educational policy reflects the cultural diversity of Hong Kong with an emphasis on Chinese and Western traditions and interdisciplinary learning. The Academy ranks 1st in Asia for four consecutive years and 10th in the world for two consecutive years in 2022 QS World University Rankings by Subject (Performing Arts). Every year, the academy enrols approximately 750 students for its full-time programmes and around 770 students for its Junior Music Programme and Gifted Young Dancer Programme. Furthermore, its extensive EXCEL (Extension and Continuing Education for Life) programme offers part-time personal enrichment courses and in-service professional training to nearly 8,000 students each year.

Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC; Chinese: 香港藝術中心) is a non-profit arts institution and art museum established in 1977. It promotes contemporary performing arts, visual arts, film and video arts. It also provides arts education. Its rival is the government-managed Hong Kong Museum of Art. These two museums are considered to be the top two art museums in Hong Kong that dictate the discourse of art in Hong Kong.The centre comprises presentation spaces and venues including galleries, theatres, a cinema, classrooms, studios, restaurant and offices. It also includes sculpture, photography, ceramics, illustrations, and sound and visual installations.

Wan Chai District is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. Of the four on Hong Kong Island, it is north-central, and had 152,608 residents in 2011, a fall from 167,146 residents in 2001. The district has the second-highest educationally qualified residents with the highest-bracket incomes, the second-lowest population and the third-oldest quotient. It is a relatively affluent district, with one in five persons having liquid assets of more than HKD 1 million.

Wan Chai is a metropolitan area situated at the western part of the Wan Chai District on the northern shore of Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong. Its other boundaries are Canal Road to the east, Arsenal Street to the west and Bowen Road to the south. The area north of Gloucester Road is often referred to as Wan Chai North. Wan Chai is one of the busiest commercial areas in Hong Kong with offices of many small and medium-sized companies. Wan Chai North features office towers, parks, hotels and an international conference and exhibition centre. As one of the first areas developed in Hong Kong, the locale is densely populated yet with noticeable residential zones facing urban decay. Arousing considerable public concern, the government has undertaken several urban renewal projects in recent years. There are various landmarks and skyscrapers within the area, most notably the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), Central Plaza and Hopewell Centre.

The Hong Kong Police Headquarters (Chinese: 香港警察總部) or HKPHQ are located at 1 Arsenal Street, Wan Chai, on Hong Kong Island. It is the headquarters of the Hong Kong Police Force. The headquarters complex comprises several buildings, including Arsenal House (including main building, East and West Wing) and Caine House. As at December 2010, 5,202 police officers and 2,032 civilian officers are deployed in this headquarters.

Shui On Centre (Chinese: 瑞安中心) is a 35-storey Grade A office building in Wan Chai North, Hong Kong. The building was completed in May 1987.In neighbors the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.

The Revenue Tower is a skyscraper located in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. The tower rises 49 floors and 181 metres (594 ft) in height. The building was completed in 1990. The Revenue Tower, which stands as the 93rd-tallest building in Hong Kong, is composed entirely of office space. The building, along with its twin tower, the Immigration Tower, house government offices. The building is unique in that it houses a sky lobby on the 38th floor; this is designed to ease vertical transportation in the tower.
