Sacred Heart Cathedral is a Romanesque-style church that serves as the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kamloops. It is located in the downtown area of Kamloops at the intersection of Nicola Street and 3rd Avenue. The construction of the cathedral began in 1921, a few blocks from the site of an earlier church by the same name that had burned down two years earlier. It opened in December 1925 and is now listed on the city's Heritage Walking Tour by the City of Kamloops Museum and Archives.

Kamloops ( KAM-loops) is a city in south-central British Columbia, Canada, at the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers, which join to become the Thompson River in Kamloops, and east of Kamloops Lake. It is located in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District, whose district offices are based here. The surrounding region is sometimes referred to as the Thompson Country. The city was incorporated in 1893 with about 500 residents. The Canadian Pacific Railroad was completed through downtown in 1886, and the Canadian National arrived in 1912, making Kamloops an important transportation hub. With a 2021 population of 97,902, it is the twelfth largest municipality in the province. The Kamloops census agglomeration is ranked 36th among census metropolitan areas and agglomerations in Canada with a 2021 population of 114,142.Kamloops is promoted as the Tournament Capital of Canada. It hosts more than 100 sporting tournaments each year (hockey, baseball, curling, etc) at world-class sports facilities such as the Tournament Capital Centre, Kamloops Bike Ranch, and Tournament Capital Ranch. Logging, beef cattle, vegetable farming, transportation, viticulture, health care, tourism, and education are major contributing industries to the regional economy and have grown in recent years. Thompson Rivers University (~25,000 students) was established as Cariboo College in 1970.

Riverside Park is a park in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada that encompasses a beach next to a river. The park is bordered by the Thompson River and Landsdowne Street. There is a monument in the park that indicates the height to which four different floods reached throughout the history of the park. Riverside Park also included a water park, which was torn down in 2022. There is an 11 PM curfew at the park, but it is not normally enforced. In 1885, the site that would eventually become the park was used as a campsite by Chinese Canadians from Savona's Ferry working on the Canadian Pacific Railway. When members of the On-to-Ottawa Trek stopped in Kamloops on their way from Vancouver to Ottawa, Ontario in 1935, Mayor W.J. Moffat offered the men an empty hospital to sleep in, but the men declined, many choosing rather to sleep in Riverside Park where they had only one blanket to share between three or four men. In 2011, a parking garage was proposed to be built in the park, but a group called the Friends of Riverside Park gathered signatures from more than 10% of the Kamloops electorate opposing the proposal, thereby forcing a referendum on the subject. Before the referendum could take place, however, the city council unanimously voted to put an end to the plans to build the parking garage.

St Paul's Cathedral, Kamloops, is the Cathedral church for the Territory of the People, Anglican Church of Canada. The Territory of the People (the Territory) was formerly known as the Diocese of Cariboo, which was dissolved because of its inability to meet tort judgments against it in respect of abuse in Indian residential schools. After dissolution of the Diocese of the Cariboo the Territory was temporarily known as The Anglican Parishes of the Central Interior. The area officially became a territory in 2015.The original church was built in 1888 on Main Street; in 1924, the building was moved to Nicola Street. The building is an extremely modest one both in size and furniture and fittings. In 2023, the rector was the Rev Dr Kyle Norman. The bishop having responsibility for the parishes of the Territory is the Rt. Rev. Barbara Andrews; Clara Plamondon was consecrated as Bishop in January 2024. The Dean is the Rev. Ken Gray.

The Sandman Centre (formerly known as Riverside Coliseum and Interior Savings Centre) is a 5,464-seat multi-purpose arena in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. It is home to the Kamloops Blazers ice hockey team. The arena is owned by the City of Kamloops. The current naming rights holder is Sandman Hotels. The Arena is located on Mark Recchi Way, named after the NHL player whose hometown and home team (Blazers) is in Kamloops. The Sandman Centre was constructed to replace the Kamloops Memorial Arena, built in 1948 and now a historical landmark. The Sandman Centre opened as the Riverside Coliseum in 1992. The Riverside Coliseum was later called Sport Mart Place due to a sponsorship deal with Sport Mart. The deal between Sport Mart and the City of Kamloops expired during the summer of 2005 and a new sponsorship deal resulted in the commercial name Interior Savings Centre. In the summer and fall of 2005, the Kamloops Blazers Hockey Club, City of Kamloops, and several corporate sponsors constructed new private box seats, increasing the arena's capacity by hundreds of seats.

The South Thompson River is the southern branch of the Thompson River, the largest tributary of the Fraser River, in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It originates at the outlet of Little Shuswap Lake at the town of Chase and flows approximately 58 kilometres (36 mi) southwest and west through a wide valley to Kamloops where it joins the North Thompson River to form the main stem Thompson River. Highway 1, the Trans-Canada Highway, and the mainline of the Canadian Pacific Railway parallel the river. Little Shuswap Lake is fed by the Little River, which drains Shuswap Lake, which is fed by several rivers and creeks. Before 1982 the river was considered to start at the outlet of Shuswap Lake rather than Little Shuswap Lake, but the short river between Shuswap Lake and Little Shuswap Lake was officially renamed Little River in keeping with long-established local usage.The South Thompson's main tributaries are Chase Creek, which joins from the south at Chase, Niskonlith Creek, which joins from the north near Niskonlith Lake Provincial Park, Monte Creek, which joins from the south at Monte Creek, and Campbell Creek, which joins from the south.

Royal Inland Hospital is a medical facility located in Kamloops, British Columbia serving a catchment area of 225,000 km2.

The Kamloops Heritage Railway is a heritage railway in Kamloops, British Columbia. The railway operates throughout the year running trains within Kamloops. The train is pulled by restored steam locomotive Canadian National Railway 2141, the "Spirit of Kamloops". 2141 was built in 1912 by the Canadian Locomotive Company, in Kingston, Ontario - built for the Canadian Northern Railway, prior to it being absorbed into the Canadian National Railway. She is a 2-8-0, 'Consolidation' class of steam locomotive built for branch line railways. Originally a coal burner, she was converted to burn oil in 1954, and retired from active duty in 1958. 2141 was sold to the City of Kamloops in 1961, and placed on display in Riverside Park until restoration work began in 1995. The restoration was completed in 2001, and 2141 has been working for KHR from May until December each year since. A second restoration took place from 2013 to 2015, with the engine running again in August 2015. The locomotive was featured in the movie Gold (2013) Tickets for excursions are sold at the ticket office, located at #3-510 Lorne Street, right across from the old Kamloops railway station.As of 2022 the Kamloops Heritage Railway was reduced to temporary static display. This was due to the increased amount of freight traffic, mainly the export of American coal through Kamloops via Canadian Pacific Railway to the Canadian National Kamloops North yard via the rail bridge over the North Thompson River.

Kamloops station is a railway station in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. It serves as the overnight stopover point for the Rocky Mountaineer train service to Jasper, Banff and Calgary from Vancouver. The station was originally built for Canadian National Railway The station was declared a Heritage Railway Station in 1992. Via Rail trains call at the Kamloops North station, not this station. The station building was restored and was previously home to a location of The Keg. As of 2021, it is being remodelled as a local distillery and restaurant.The Kamloops Heritage Railway, offers special excursion steam trains at various times through the year, trains depart from the station with tickets sold from their ticket office at 5-510 Lorne St near the station.

The North Thompson River is the northern branch of the Thompson River, the largest tributary of the Fraser River, in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It originates at the toe of the Thompson Glacier in the Premier Range of the Cariboo Mountains, west of the community of Valemount. The river flows generally south through the Shuswap Highland towards Kamloops where it joins the South Thompson River to form the main stem Thompson River. For most of its length, the river is paralleled by Highway 5, and the Canadian National Railway (both of which cross the river a couple of times). The North Thompson passes by several small communities, the most notable being Blue River, Clearwater, and Barriere. Tributaries of the North Thompson River include Canvas Creek, the Albreda River, Thunder River, Mud Creek, Blue River, Mad River, Raft River, Clearwater River, and Barrière River.The North Thompson's largest tributary is the Clearwater River, which joins at the town of Clearwater. The Clearwater River drains much of Wells Gray Provincial Park. A notable feature along the North Thompson is Little Hells Gate, a mini-replica of the much larger Hells Gate rapids on the Fraser River. About 17.4 kilometres (10.8 mi) upstream from the small town of Avola, the North Thompson River is forced through a narrow chute only about 30 feet (9.1 m) wide, creating a rapid that resembles the Fraser's famous rapid. Many river rafting companies offer a variety of trips through the rapids.

The Kamloops Memorial Arena is an ice hockey arena built in 1948 in Kamloops, British Columbia. It hosted the Western Hockey League teams including the Kamloops Chiefs, Kamloops Junior Oilers and, most notably, the Kamloops Blazers. It was replaced in 1992 by the new Riverside Coliseum (now known as the Sandman Centre). However, the old arena still stands and is used for other levels of hockey, as well as lacrosse. Memorial Arena was the result of a number of community organizations banding together. Innovative fundraising strategies, such as raffles, were strongly supported by the community at large. Accomplishing a project of this magnitude, largely as the result of the efforts by the community, is a testament to how Kamloopsians can come together as well as how much they supported another memorial to World War I and World War II. The arena was designed by architect, C.B.K. Norman and was constructed by J.C. Taylor & Son. opened in 1949.The arena is now home to the North Kamloops Midget AAA Lions who have won the British Columbia Midget AAA championship nine times (1959–69, 1960–61, 1965–66, 1975–76, 1991–92, 1992–93, 1994–95, 1998–99, and 1999–00); the arena is also home to Thompson Rivers University Hockey, who played their first season in 2009–2010.

The Overlanders Bridge is a bridge that spans the Thompson River in Kamloops, British Columbia. It connects Fortune Drive and Tranquille Road in the north with Victoria Street in the south. The bridge opened on November 22, 1961, becoming the third bridge to traverse the Thompson River in this location (1901, 1925). The bridge carries approximately 42,000 vehicles daily. The City of Kamloops rehabilitated the bridge in 2015 following reports indicating significant wear on both the bridge deck and the west sidewalk.Overlanders was the winning entry, submitted by Joan Lyons, to a naming contest run by the Kamloops Sentinel newspaper. The name commemorates the pioneers who travelled overland from Fort Garry, Manitoba to Kamloops in 1862. The incorrect name of Overlander is in common use and previously appeared in official documentation before being corrected to Overlanders.
