Kanalski Vrh

The Fifth Battle of the Isonzo was fought from March 9–15, 1916 between the armies of the Kingdom of Italy and those of Austria-Hungary. The Italians had decided to launch another offensive on the Soča (Isonzo) River.

At its eastern border, on the left bank of the Soča, runs the Bohinj Railway, the railway track linking the Central Europe and the Mediterranean.

Avče (pronounced [ˈaːu̯tʃɛ], Italian: Auzza) is a settlement on the left bank of the Soča River in the Municipality of Kanal ob Soči in the Littoral region of Slovenia. It includes the hamlets of Dolnji Avšček, Gor(e)nji Avšček, and Langa along Avšček Creek southeast of the main settlement, Nadavče to the west, and Spodnji Log and Vrtače to the north along the railroad.

Ročinj (pronounced [ɾɔˈtʃiːn] or [ˈɾɔːtʃin]; Italian: Ronzina) is a village on the right bank of the Soča River in the Municipality of Kanal ob Soči in the Littoral region of Slovenia.

Bate (pronounced [ˈbaːtɛ]; Italian: Battaglia della Bainsizza or Bainsizza San Lorenzo) is a village in western Slovenia in the Municipality of Nova Gorica. It is located on the Banjšice Plateau. It is part of the Gorizia area of the wider traditional region of the Slovenian Littoral, and is now part of the Gorizia Statistical Region. It includes the hamlets of Dolenji Konec, Gorenji Konec, Na Placu, and Breščaki in the main settlement, as well as Čafarini, Humarji, Sveto, Ježevec, Madoni, Jelaršče, Pičulini, Podlaka, Sedevčiči, and Čeferinovšče.

Krstenica (pronounced [kəɾstɛˈniːtsa]) is a small settlement on the right bank of the Soča River between Kanal and Anhovo in the Littoral region of Slovenia. Until 2007, the area was part of the settlement of Gorenja Vas.The local church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and belongs to the parish of Kanal.

Gorenje Polje (pronounced [ɡɔˈɾeːnjɛ ˈpoːljɛ]) is a small settlement in the Municipality of Kanal ob Soči in western Slovenia. From 1952 to 2008, the village was part of the settlement of Anhovo. The settlement is part of the traditional region of the Slovenian Littoral and is included in the Gorizia Statistical Region.The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint Michael. It belongs to the Diocese of Koper.

Seniški Breg (pronounced [sɛˈniːʃki ˈbɾeːk]) is a dispersed settlement in the hills above Avče in the Municipality of Kanal ob Soči in the Littoral region of Slovenia.

Anhovo (pronounced [ˈaːŋxɔʋɔ]; Italian: Salona d'Isonzo, Anicova Corada before 1927) is a settlement on the right bank of the Soča River in the Municipality of Kanal ob Soči in the Littoral region of Slovenia. It is best known for its cement factory, Salonit Anhovo, built in 1921.There is a small railway station on the outskirts of the settlement.
