The Battle of the Barrier (Chinese: 澳門之戰) was fought between British and Chinese forces at the boundary separating Macao from the Chinese mainland on 19 August 1840 during the First Opium War. Located in modern-day Portas do Cerco, the Macao Peninsula was connected to Xiangshan Island by a narrow isthmus about 100 m (330 ft) wide and 1.2 km (0.75 mi) long. A wall called the Barrier was built across the isthmus in 1573, and it served as Macao's border.

Zhuhai railway station (Chinese: 珠海站; pinyin: Zhūhǎi Zhàn), also known as Gongbei station (拱北站), is an elevated station of the Guangzhou–Zhuhai intercity railway (Guangzhu ICR). It is located in the Gongbei Subdistrict (jiedao) of Xiangzhou in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China, besides the Gongbei Port and parallel to the border between mainland China and Macau. The station is the southern terminus of the Guangzhou–Zhuhai intercity railway and the northern terminus of the Zhuhai–Zhuhai Airport intercity railway.

The Portas do Cerco is an area in Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Macau, China. Located on the northern tip of the Macau Peninsula, it is known by the Barrier Gate separating Macau from mainland China. The Portuguese built the gate in 1849 to replace a crumbling wall that the Chinese erected during the Ming dynasty in 1573. The Chinese built a garrisoned wall to control the flow of people and goods. It was the site of the Passaleão incident, a clash between the Qing dynasty and the Kingdom of Portugal in 1849 over the death of Macau's governor Ferreira do Amaral. Led by Colonel Mesquita, Portugal won the small battle which led to the extension of Macau's border northwards. At the limit of said expansion, the Portas do Cerco was built with the inscription "A pátria honrai, que a pátria vos contempla" (Portuguese for "Honor your fatherland, for your fatherland looks over you") on the façade on its inner arch in 1849. The Barrier Gate served as a de facto boundary, but the precise limits of Macau's border has never been formally demarcated.Macau, now a special administrative region of China, still has an official border with Zhuhai in mainland China a few meters behind the old barrier gate. The new Posto Fronteiriço das Portas do Cerco (Barrier Gate Border Post) was opened on 15 January 2004.

Dr. Sun Yat Sen Municipal Park (Chinese: 紀念孫中山市政公園; Portuguese: Parque Municipal Dr. Sun Yat Sen) is an urban park in Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Macau, China. The park is named for the founding father of the Republic of China, Dr Sun Yat Sen. The park is a 70,000 square meters (17.3 acres) urban park located in northern Macau in Our Lady of Fatima Parish along the border with Zhuhai, Mainland China. The park is located next to Canal dos Patos, but access to the former canal is closed off, and Barrier Gate. It was originally called Canal dos Patos Park to commemorate the friendship between China and Portugal in 1987. The park is one of forty three parks in the world to bear this name. Zheng Guanying Official School (Chinese: 鄭觀應公立學校, Portuguese: Escola Oficial Zheng Guanying, EOZGY) is a primary and secondary school in Toi San, Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Macau. It is named after Zheng Guanying. As of 2016, the headmistress was Wu Kit (胡潔).As of 2021 it was the sole governmantal educational institution in the special administrative region which uses Standard Mandarin as a language of education.

The Our Lady of Fátima Church (traditional Chinese: 花地瑪聖母堂; simplified Chinese: 花地玛圣母堂; pinyin: Huādìmǎ Shèngmǔ Táng; Portuguese: Igreja de Nossa Senhora de Fátima) is a church in Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Macau, China.

Colégio Diocesano de São José 5 (CDSJ5; Chinese: 聖若瑟教區中學第五校) is a Roman Catholic preschool through secondary school in Nossa Senhora de Fátima (Our Lady of Fatima Parish), Macau. It is operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Macau and it is a member of the Macau Catholic Schools Association. The school is not a part of Macau's tuition-free education network.In 2015 and early 2016 the tuition ranged from 28,900 to 32,200 Macau patacas. As of May 2016 the tuition was to increase to a range of 31,900 to 36,400 patacas. In 2016 several parents protested the tuition hike by sending a letter to Stephen Lee, the Bishop of Macau.

The Lin Zexu Memorial Museum of Macau (Chinese: 澳門林則徐紀念館; Portuguese: Museu Lin Zexu de Macau) is a museum in Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Macau, China about Lin Zexu's arrival in Macau on 3 September 1839.

The Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome Club (Chinese: 逸園賽狗場), located in Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Macau, China, was a greyhound racing stadium in Asia. Around 120 dogs took part in 16 races five days per week. It had two grandstands, several private boxes and a VIP lounge. It shared the venue with Lin Fong Sports Centre, a sport complex.

Mong-Há Fort (Chinese: 望廈炮台; Portuguese: Fortaleza de Mong-Há) is a fort on Mong-Há Hill, Nossa Senhora de Fátima, Macau, China. The fort is part of a greater military reservation – the Bairro Militar de Mong-Há, which included the Quartel de Mong-Há (Mong-Há Barracks). The Bairro Militar is bound by the Rua Francisco Xavier Pereira and the Colina de Mong-Há. The main fort complex was erected 1849 by Governor Ferreira do Amaral to protect the Macau's northern sector as precaution against a possible Chinese invasion following the First Opium War between Britain and China (1839–1842). The fort's construction began in 1849 and was completed in 1864/66. The Quartel de Mong-Há was constructed in the 1920s. With the complete withdrawal of the Portuguese military establishment in the 1960s following the Sino-Portuguese rapprochement, the fort and the Bairro Militar were deactivated, with the former being turned over to the Instituto de Formação Turística de Macau in the 1980s. In June 1997, the area surrounding the fort was transformed into the Jardim Municipal de Mong-Há. With an overall area of 650 square meters, the brick-walled fort held ten artillery pieces with a firing range capable of reaching the Portas do Cerco. Along with the barracks for Portuguese troops of African origin (Landins), the fort also included a lookout post and a munitions dump. The Quartel de Mong-Há occupied an area of 2244 square meters and was built in the style of 1920s Southern European and Modernist architecture. The government of Macau demolished the Quartel de Mong-Há and the neighboring Escola Keang Peng and put in their place public housing in the name of public security in late 2008.

Nossa Senhora de Fátima is the northernmost and largest civil parish in the Macau Peninsula of Macau. It has an area of 3.2 square kilometers (1.2 sq mi) and a population of 126,000, which constitutes about 40.3% of the peninsula's land mass and one-third of the population. This parish was one of five in the former Municipality of Macau, one of Macau's two municipalities that were abolished on 31 December 2001 by Law No. 17/2001, following the 1999 transfer of sovereignty over Macau from Portugal to China. While their administrative functions have since been removed, these parishes are still retained nominally. It is northeast of the parishes of Santo António and São Lázaro. It borders the Chinese city of Zhuhai to the north.

The University of Saint Joseph (USJ; Chinese: 聖若瑟大學; Portuguese: Universidade de São José) is a Catholic university founded in 1996, previously known as Macau Inter-University Institute (Chinese: 澳門高等校際學院; Portuguese: Instituto Inter-Universitário de Macau; IIUM). It was jointly organized by the Catholic University of Portugal and the Diocese of Macau. It is also connected by structural, academic, and social bonds to the special administrative region of Macau, to Portugal, and to mainland China. USJ expresses its mission as being a private Catholic University in, of and for Macao, in of and for China, concentrating on post-graduate teaching and research, together with professional training in the liberal arts and social sciences. USJ offers a wide range of courses ranging from the humanities to the social and technological sciences. New courses are regularly being added in order to keep pace with the most recent academic and scientific advances in the modern world. There are programs for certificates, diplomas, licentiate (undergraduate/bachelor's), master's and doctoral degrees, and also some interesting Language Programs which include the teaching of Putonghua (Mandarin), Portuguese, Japanese, French, and English.
