Bowbridge is a village in Gloucestershire, England, on the outskirts of Stroud. Bowbridge Lock on the Thames and Severn Canal is in the process of restoration. Field House on Bowbridge Lane is a 17th-century house, now converted into apartments: it was formerly a youth hostel, a Territorial Army base and the headquarters of the county Air Training Corps.

Ham Mill Halt was opened on 12 October 1903 on what is now the Golden Valley Line between Kemble and Stroud. This line was opened in 1845 as the Cheltenham and Great Western Union Railway from Swindon to Gloucester and this was one of many small stations and halts built on this line for the local passenger service. This halt opened with the introduction of the GWR steam railmotor services between Stonehouse and Chalford. The halt was between Brimscombe and Stroud, at the end of Ham Mill Lane, and was originally opened as Ham Mill Crossing Halt before being renamed in July 1957. The halt consisted of a wooden crossing and a pair of platforms, each with GWR pagoda style shelters. Electric lighting was installed 1939 at an estimated cost of £108. Electric treadles and bells were provided either side of the crossing to warn passengers of trains approaching. Closure of the halt came in November 1964 following the withdrawal of local stopping passenger services on the line. No trace of the halt remains today.

Rodborough Common is a 116.0-hectare (287-acre) biological and geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Gloucestershire, notified in 1954. The site is listed in the ‘Stroud District’ Local Plan, adopted November 2005, Appendix 6 (online for download) as an SSSI and a Regionally Important Geological Site (RIGS). The Common is also a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) under the EU Habitats Directive Rodborough Common is sited south of Stroud and is owned and managed by the National Trust. It is north of Minchinhampton Common. It lies on Jurassic limestone and is on top of the Cotswold scarp. It is bounded on either side by the Nailsworth valley and the Frome valley. It is on a hill (a plateau area), and its margins are dissected by dry valleys. The sides of this plateau are steep.Rodborough Common, like Minchinhampton Common, is notified for its biological and geological importance. The grassland is unimproved, herb-rich and calcareous. There is an important geological area for fossils for research purposes.

Frome Banks (grid reference SO851048) is a 1.3-hectare (3.2-acre) nature reserve in Gloucestershire.The site is managed by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust under lease from Gloucestershire County Council and a private owner. The reserve was established in 1990. It is operated in partnership with the Stroud Valleys Project.

A more exacting version of this walk has also been published, as the "Five Valleys Circuit"; this includes an ascent over the high ground of Selsley Common rather than the charity walk's low-level route from Stonehouse to Nailsworth, up the old railway line by the Nailsworth Stream. The Five Valleys Shopping Centre in Stroud is named after the Five Valleys.

Rodborough is a large village and civil parish in the district of Stroud, Gloucestershire, in South West England. It is directly south of the town of Stroud, north of the town of Nailsworth and north-west of the town of Minchinhampton. The parish includes the settlements of Bagpath (not to be confused with Bagpath in the Ozleworth valley), Butterrow, Kingscourt, Lightpill and Rooksmoor, and is adjacent to the Stroud suburb of Dudbridge. The population taken at the 2011 census was 5,334.

The Subscription Rooms is a building in George Street at the centre of the town of Stroud, Gloucestershire, England, erected in 1833 under the architect Charles Baker of Painswick. Funding for its erection was obtained through public subscription, hence its name, in the case of the Subscription Rooms it was a group of wealthy merchants.The Rooms provide entertainment including music, dance, theatre, visual arts, spoken word, exhibitions and workshops. The Beatles performed there on 31 March 1962.The two-storey, detached building is Grade II listed, giving it legal protection against unauthorised alteration or demolition. It is made from Cotswold stone, with a three-story extension to the rear, in brick. The frontage has a portico with Tuscan columns and balustraded balcony, facing onto a forecourt.The building was owned by Stroud District Council but in 2019 passed into the ownership of the Stroud Subscription Rooms Trust (Charity No. 1180350). The forecourt is "owned" by the Subscription Rooms.

Brimscombe and Thrupp (grid reference SO862032) is a civil parish made up of the villages of Thrupp and Brimscombe, in the narrow Frome Valley slightly south-east of Stroud, Gloucestershire, England. The parish also includes the hamlets of Quarhouse and The Heavens. The population taken at the 2011 census was 1,830.
