The canton of Talence is an administrative division of the Gironde department, southwestern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Talence.It consists of the following communes: Bègles (partly) Talence

In Bordeaux, the Cognitique Institute (IdC) was a public education institution, founded in 2003 by the Bordeaux Segalen University, that includes a cognitive engineering training program (master in engineering), two Masters programs and a PhD program in applied cognitive science. Since 2009, IdC joined the Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux (IPB) and its name change to become : Ecole Nationale Superieure de Cognitique (ENSC). Pr. The University of Bordeaux 1 (French: Université Bordeaux-I) was one of the four universities in the Academy of Bordeaux, together with the Bordeaux Segalen University (Bordeaux 2), Michel de Montaigne University (Bordeaux 3) and Montesquieu University (Bordeaux 4), and one of five in Aquitaine. Talence (French pronunciation: ​[talɑ̃s], locally [taˈlãⁿsə]; Occitan: Talança, [taˈlanso]; Catalan: Talença, [tǝˈlensǝ]) is a commune in the Gironde department, administrative region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. It is the third-largest suburb of the city of Bordeaux, and is adjacent to it on the south side. It is a member of the Bordeaux Métropole. Talence is the home of Décastar, a prestigious yearly international decathlon event. In Talence, there are different universities: Bordeaux University, Architecture School of Bordeaux and KEDGE Business School.

The Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux (Bordeaux INP) (Institut polytechnique de Bordeaux, Groupe Bordeaux INP and before INPB) is a French technological university system consisting of six engineering schools. The institute is a Grand établissement.Bordeaux INP offers through its internal schools nine engineering specialties, in: Agrifood and Biological Engineering Biotechnology Chemistry and Engineering Physics Cognitive Electronics Georesources and Environment Computer science Mathematics and Mechanics Industrial Performance and Aeronautical Maintenance Telecommunications.The institute also offers Masters of Science in: Radio and telecommunications systems, Nano and Micro technologies, Design and processing of inorganic materials, and in Applied Formulation of Polymers and Colloids.

The Institute of mechanics and engineering (in French : Institut de mécanique et d'ingénierie), also known as the I2M, is a French institute of research located in Bordeaux, more precisely in the science Campus of Talence, Pessac and Gradignan. It is under the authority of University of Bordeaux, CNRS / INSIS, Arts et Métiers ParisTech, Bordeaux INP and INRA. It is in addition part of the Carnot Institute ARTS and currently employs more than 300 persons. It was created in 2011 from the merge of 3 "Unités Mixtes de Recherche" CNRS/University laboratories: LMP, TREFLE, US2B and 3 "Equipes d'Accueil" of Research Ministry: LAMEFIP, LGM2B, GHYMAC. The I2M is also part of the IdEX Bordeaux (LabEX AMADEUS, CPU, EquipEx XYLOFOREST) and of the interregional cluster AEROSPACE VALLEY Aerospace Valley.
